Title: The Little Prince

Author: Antoine de St-Exupery

Main Characters: The little prince, the pilot, the rose, the fox, the snake, etc。

Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories。 The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children。 This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940。 It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince。

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex。 “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara。 In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612。 The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet。 In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids。

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer。 From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd。 Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth。

Traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before。 At that time a fox appears。 The fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word “tame”, becomes his new friend。 At the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him。 From that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose。

At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’s advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake。 “It’s too far。 I can not carry this body with me。 It’s too heavy。” he said。 He tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back。 At the end the author doesn’t tell us the ending directly。 Maybe it’s more significant for us to imagine, and for more, think over。

One of the important characters is the rose。 Growing on the planet, she is very beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot。 In spite of they love each other, he soon becomes unhappy。 On the time of his departure, he just knows she certainly loves him。 The character of the little prince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds。 On the contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, the businessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in the grown-up’s world。 The real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, I guess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but not others “matters of consequence” of the grown-ups。

小王子读后感

A Critical Book Review on The Little Prince

It’s the second time that I have read the book called The Little Prince. Although I am no longer a child, I still prefer this kind of fairy tales. “Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects, selling over a million copies per year with sales totaling more than 140 million copies worldwide, The Little Prince has become one of the best-selling books ever published, whose total circulation is only behind the Bible. And it can be regarded as the miracle in the history of publishment.

From my viewpoint, The Little Prince is not only for children, but also for adults who have ever owned playfulness. And it’s more a tragedy than a fairy tale. The leading character in the book is a lovely little prince with blond hair. He conquers a great many readers’ hearts by its unique charm. Meanwhile, the narrator of the story is a pilot forced to land in the Sahara because of something wrong with his plane.

Compared with some other long novels, I think, the outline of The Little Prince is relatively simple and clear.

The protagonist and the narrator made the acquaintance of each other in Sahara when the little prince arrived on the earth following the instruction of a geographer. Gradually, they became good friends. The lovely prince told the pilot a lot of his precious experiences in different planets. Once upon the time, the prince had lived a quiet life in Asteroid B-612, a planet hardly any bigger than he was. Then one day, he left it because of a beautiful and fragile rose. On his all-alone journey in six different planets, he encountered a great variety of people, including an arrogant king, an avaricious businessman, a pedantic lamplighter, a geographer and so on. From these different people, the little prince felt that the adults were very strange and odd.

Here I think the author showed us the emptiness, blindness and ignorance of grown-ups from the perspective of children. What’s more, he also told us the inner loneliness and confusion of adults.

When the little prince reached the earth, he also met with a fox. The story's essence is contained in the lines uttered by the fox to the little prince. The fox solved his confusion of love which the fragile rose had brought to him. In addition, the fox made him understand that love meant responsibility and mercy, without it, anything in life would be meaningless.

Indeed, love is a magic and complicated thing. It can make us feel upset and painful. At the same time, it can also help us escape from loneliness. As the little prince said:“when you look up at the sky at night, since I’ll be living on one of them, since I’ll be laughing on one of them, for you it’ll be as if all the stars that can laugh!” (P322,The Little Prince)

When finishing reading the novel, my heart is deeply touched again. What’s more, I start to reflect on lives of grown-ups. Nowadays, adults are always occupied with their work and study, and put themselves in the cruel competitions. They all want to succeed, sometimes they even abandon their principles and become selfish, blind and avaricious. How terrible it is! What I want to stress is that the essence of things can only be understood by our hearts. We everyone should cherish our friendship and love rather than temporary things such as wealth and fame.

丑小鸭读后感英语版

Ugly duckling illustrated, many tribulations into a white swan, it is because it has a dream of mind. It supports dream. In fact, no trajectory fate lies in the realm of beautiful, beautiful pursuit of ideals. The frustration and pain of life is inevitable, they should learn to walk the feet. Every child will have a dream of their own, as long as they learn to establish life goals, self-confidence, self-improvement, Independence grow up, they will really struggle through the original can also become aware of their “white swan” like the ugly duckling can achieve the same dream in the heart

After reading THE UGLY DUCK,I have a lot to say.

In the story, the ugly duck lost his self-confidence.But after having a talk with the old duck,he became confident. At last,he even turned into a beautiful swan.

If we do not have a pretty appearance,we can also be successful in the future. We can even go beyond others. When we are trapped,we should not lose our confidence but raise our heads and believe succeis waiting for us.

The author pays homage to Hans Christian Andersen‘s compassionate tale with this faithful adaptation. Kids can relate to the duckling‘s dilemma; part of the growing-up proceis pulling away from those around you and developing a strong sense of self. Children have also witnessed or experienced the teasing that is part and parcel of childhood.

This agelestory speaks acrogenerations with its reaffirming message. In this age of instant gratification, Andersen‘s tale reminds readers that some things are worth waiting for and that a pleasure deferred (whether by choice or necessity) is often the sweetest one of all.

Pinkney‘s descriptive passages resonate with the splendor of nature‘s beauty. The glowing watercolors, filled with intricate details, make each blade of gravisible, and the delicately drawn, nearly transparent mosquitoes are as ethereal as they are in life. The subtle details incorporated into the scenes--a frog catching a passing fly at the pond and a tiny mouse perched by a crate in the old woman‘s cottage--make children take another look.

One day he heard a sound of whirring wings, and up in the air he saw a flock of birds flying high. They were as bright as the snow that had fallen during the night, and their long necks were stretched southward. Oh, if only he could go with them! But what sort of companion could he be to those beautiful beings?

‘I am too ugly even for a dog to eat,‘ the duckling thought. Jerry Pinkney‘s poignant text and rich artwork convey the timeleappeal of this tale of hardship and redemption. Anyone who has suffered the sting of ostracism can sympathize

I read the Chinese version of “Calle” a few years ago. At that ti I was deeply ved by the in character Marguerite Gautier. “Calle” or “The Lady of the Callias” by Alexandre Dus, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept won, in Paris in the d 1800's, and how she falls in love with a young n, Arnd Duval, and then tries to escape froher questionable past.I think Marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted sothing froher, the only exceptions being Arnd and Julie Duprat. Of course, the Coe de G. and Coe de N. wanted her body and appearance. The Duke needed to “wake up and sll the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. If he truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifestyle without “keeping” her hielf. And lastly,()

Prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used Marguerite alst worse than the n. I also think she was jealous of the fact that Marguerite had so ch re courage than herself and soone truly loved her.

The story tells of a little girl named Dorothea rolled into a strange place by a tornado, away from her home. They all share the same wish and return to their hometown. At last they found the great magician, but the magician said that only the Oriental witch could realize their own wishes and tell them how to find the Oriental witch, and they found the Oriental witch according to their instructions. Finally, the Oriental witch used magic to help them all return to their hometown.

Every reading of a book has a lot of feelings, and she is a brave and kind girl who can always stick to it and come up with a solution. 篇9:绿野仙踪读后感英语版

Wizard of Oz is a fairy tale carefully written by American writer Lyman Frank Baum. The article contains the authors inspiration to the desire - dont think that the desire can never be realized. As long as you work hard and strive for it, then the desire will be realized by us.

The wizard of Oz paints a moving story full of friendship, courage and trust. Let us know that friendship is a kind of quiet and calm love, guided by reason, the habit of forming, the combination of long - term understanding and common, without jealousy, and no fear. True perseverance is that when a man is in trouble or danger, he can calm himself and do his duty.

The images depicted in the wizard of Oz are Rosie, scarecrow, iron man, lion, and oz. They have experienced a lot of things together: bravely defeated the evil Western wicked witch; they worked together through the exquisite porcelain country and the wooded Schwarzwald; found the good Southern witch Genda, finally finished the desire to go home with Rosie, and lived happily with Aunt Amy and uncle Henry.

By reading the work of Wizard of Oz, we must learn more about Rosies steadfast spirit and optimistic attitude. Although there are some frustrations and hardships to realize the ideal desire, as long as we have persevered efforts, one day, we feel that the desire to be impossible will be realized.

篇11:老人与海读后感英语版

老人与海读后感英语版

The old man Santiago from The Old Man and the Sea is a character seen in many perspectives, as a hero, an ordinary fisherman, an unlucky old man, and a wise man. Throughout the novella he is made out as a person of motivation, passion, and hope. Despite what others do or do not think he is a man of action, and not one consumed by regret. The young and old villagersa? view of Santiago is an important one, but not a differentiating one.

The villagers are split into two groups. The older fishermen that respect Santiago and wish him luck, and the younger fishermen that see him as little more than bad luck. While neither group is particularly important to the plot, each of their views sets an ambiance of Santiagoa?s forthcoming adventure. Without their views Santiago would be little more than a lucky old fisherman.

Santiago has a resolute grip upon reality and lives by it. He sees himself as a man with little direction but enough determination and experience to live. He chose not to see what others thought but instead lived by how he perceived the world. His constant struggles and his persistent resolve to overcome the marlin and himself show his earnest desires to live and fish.

The boy is a crucial element to Santiagoa?s world. Manolin is always at the edge of Santiagoa?s mind when he thinks of convenience. At times with the fish, Santiago thinks to the boy and then to his own lack of ability. He may deny it, but at times it is his relationship with the boy that both makes him realize he needs help, and compels him to go on.

Christian imagery and concepts are important assets to the old fishermana?s personality. He is seen as a kind man, and although expresses his frustration towards certain points, only conveys his anger towards the evil representation of the sharks. His kind, infinite eyes, and he carrying his mast like Jesus and his cross only augment his Christ-like personage. His loneliness and greatness are both shown as Manolin is assigned a new boat after 40 days with Santiago, the same length of time as Christ spent in the wilderness.

Santiagoa?s change at the end of the novella turns him into almost a universal hero. By being at sea, his ventures were never limited and the events of the story just seemed to happen. After he rebukes himself for his arrogance with the marlin, Santiago goes home and dreams of the lions playing in Africa, signaling a cycle of a child-like rebirth through Manolin.

Throughout the story many aspects can be found about Santiagoa?s personality merely by the content of his 3-day fight with the marlin. The ideology that encompasses the story is only consumed by Santiagoa?s pure will to persevere. Certainly Santiago is a man of many themes and personality traits.

I believe that in the past three decades, the way society has treated he elderly has remained primarily the same. Some younger citizens have looked up to the elderly with respect, yet most continue to shun them and

consider them useless and hopeless in a society such as ours. I think that the elderly population is continually losing respect from the new generations. Santiago, the elderly man in the novel The Old Man and the Sea, is respected by a young boy, Manolin, yet he is also looked down upon

by many of the younger fishermen in the Cuban fishing village where he lives. This book is set in the late 1930's and, I as I see it, shows that societies all around the world have had a decline in respect for the older people in their environment since the beginning of the nineteenth century.

An enormous number of issues have changed since Santiago's time, allowing the elderly to have the ability to do more in their old age and live in areas specifically designed for their needs. However, there is still an enormous lack of respect for the older people in society, and it is becoming worse every day. Younger citizens of our country make fun of older people, call them names, and believe that they are incapable of doing most things that the younger ones are capable of doing. When we believe they can no longer support themselves, we place our elderly relatives into retirement homes and “old folks' homes” as many call them. Sometimes they, themselves, do not wish to go to such a place, but we force them to, which many times is the wrong choice. Some younger people help the elderly, though, and try to support them, but few of these people can be found. It is a fact that when people get beyond a certain age, their memories begin depleting and they atrophy physically. However, as Santiago shows in the novel, older people have much knowledge about the world around them and enough strength to make it through hard situations if they are determined and have the will and courage to believe in a better tomorrow.

In Santiago's community, it is shown that their is still a natural respect for elders, as is seen in Manolin's support of the old man. He was one of the dying breed that truly looked up to his elders and regarded their feelings and experiences with much respect. He greatly aided Santiago by giving him support and courage and helping him through every day chores. Their are still some people with such feelings in the world today, yet many have had their opinions swayed by others and begin to think badly of the elderly.

Their is also a lack of respect for Santiago and the elderly in the novel, which can be found in the actions of the young fisherman. Some laugh at him when he passed by, and some thought of him to be too old to be a fisherman. They believed he was not in good enough shape to catch a fish, yet it was only his bad luck that deterred him from doing such a thing. He was much better and more exact than most of the other fisherman in the village, yet they could not see past his age to view his accomplishments.

I think the false beliefs about the weakness of the elderly can be turned around only if society looks much harder at their abilities and their goals. We must begin to see that although they may not have great physical strength, they still have a mind that is capable of many things. Their are many jobs that they can hold in the workplace and many things they can do to help society of which we, the younger generation, are not aware. We must realize that they have gone through many experiences that we have not and that they hold a vast amount of knowledge about the world around them. There will come a time when one's age does not determine the value of one's life, but we can change that dream to reality only if we try.

篇12:英语版呼啸山庄读后感

The whole story make people’s mood heavy. Fortunately, the end is happy.

The author Emily Bronte lived an eccentric, closely guarded life. She was born in 1818, two years after Charlotte—the author of Jane Eyre and a year and a half before her sister Anne, who also became an author. Her father worked as a church rector, and her aunt, who raised the Bronte children after their mother died, was deeply religious. Emily Bronte did not take to her aunt’s Christian fervor, the character of Joseph, a caricature of an evangelical, may have been inspired by her aunt’s religiosity. The Brontes lived in Haworth, a Yorkshire village in the midst of the moors. These wild, desolate expanses—later the setting of Wuthering Heights—made up the Brontes daily environment, and Emily lived among them her entire life. She died in 1848, at the age of thirty.

I like this book because it rest on the unforgettable characters. Wuthering Heights is based partly on the Gothic tradition, a style of literature that featured supernatural encounters, crumbling ruins, moonless nights, and grotesque imagery, seeking to create effects of mystery and fear. I would like to recommend this book to other readers.

篇13:英语版呼啸山庄读后感

wuthering heights was not well received by the reading public, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural--and author emily bronte went to her grave in 1848 believing that her only novel was a failure. it was not until 1850, when wuthering heights received a second printing with an introduction by emily's sister charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership. and from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back. today it is widely recognized as one of the great novels of english literature.

even so, wuthering heights continues to divide readers. it is not a pretty love story; rather, it is swirling tale of largely unlikeable people caught up in obsessive love that turns to dark madness. it is cruel, violent, dark and brooding, and many people find it extremely unpleasant. and yet--it possesses a grandeur of language and design, a sense of tremendous pity and great loss that sets it apart from virtually every other novel written.

the novel is told in the form of an extended flashback. after a visit to his strange landlord, a newcomer to the area desires to know the history of the family--which he receives from nelly deans, a servant who introduces us to the earnshaw family who once resided in the house known as wuthering heights. it was once a cheerful place, but old earnshaw adopted a gipsy child who he named heathcliff. and catherine, daughter of the house, found in him the perfect companion:wild, rude, and as proud and cruel as she. but although catherine loves him, even recognizes him as her soulmate, she cannot lower herself to marry so far below her social station. she instead marries another, and in so doing sets in motion an obsession that will destroy them all.

篇14:英语版呼啸山庄读后感

Thoughts or reflections on reading Wuthering Heights

The book was written by Emily Bronte, it published in 1847.But at that time, it seemed to hold little promise, selling very poorly and receiving only a few mixed reviews. I found this in our school library, I chose this book because the title attracted me. The book is structured around two parallel love stories, the first half of the novel centering on the love between Catherine and Heathcliff, while the less dramatic second half features the developing love between young Catherine and Hareton. In contrast to the first, the latter tale ends happily, restoring peace and order to Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. In the story, the two houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, represent opposing worlds and values.

I spent twenty days reading this book. After reading this book, I felt for Heathcliff at first. Heathcliff begins his life as a homeless orphan on the streets of Liverpool, and then he tyrannized by Hindley Earnshaw. But he becomes a villain when he acquires power and returns to Wuthering Heights with money and the trappings of a gentleman. His malevolence proves so great and long—lasting. As he himself points out, his abuse of Isabella—his wife is purely sadistic, as he amuses himself by seeing how much abuse she can take and still come cringing back for more.
