to whom it may concern:

i am very pleased to recommend xxx for admission to your university program.

as her guidance counselor for three years i have watched this young woman develop both academically and personally into a mature individual ready in every way for her college years.

x is bright, energetic, compassionate and genuinely well rounded.

her grades have been consistently above average in all of her courses, and she has actively participated in a diverse assortment of extracurricular activities ranging from track and field and chorus to the school yearbook and our drama club.

x has also spent considerable time outside the school involved in the community.

this has included work with meals on wheels and volunteering 10 hours a week at one of our area's shelters for battered and abused women.

they think so much of her at the shelter they have offered her a paid internship for next summer.

previously, this internship had never been awarded to anyone before the end of their college sophomore year.

despite all the preparations that will be required for going off to college next fall, x told me she is absolutely thrilled about this opportunity and feels it will enhance her university studies.

unlike many students who are not sure which field to pursue, x has made clear to us all that her goal is to do social work.

to this end she has worked tirelessly in our pilot program for mentoring special education students mainstreamed into our school.

in closing, let me take a moment to recount an incident which i believe speaks volumes about the superior nature of this candidate.

two years ago i was returning from lunch to my office when i saw ahead of me in the hallway 90 pound x, arms stretched out between two 180+ pound students, one a special ed student and the other a school bully.

other students were standing by motionless or laughing while x showed the leadership and courage to immediately put an end to the embarrassing fight that had erupted.

London, 29-07- Recommendation letter for Lee

Dear Sir or Madam,

It is my pleasure to recommend Miss Lee who is one of my favorite students for her application to postgraduate studies in your university. I am James Spencer Abbey, the statistics lecturer in the London School of Economics and Political Science.

I got to know Miss Lee personally when she was taking the course—Elementary Statistical Theory, having served as her class teacher and lecturer. As I observe, she showed great attitude in her English. She scored 7.5 points in her IELTS examination which shows that she has superb written and verbal skills and I feel proud of her. As we know even tutors incoming high school freshmen who are struggling with their English courses. She deserved the scores. In -, Miss Lee has been achieved A-level certificate at Bellerbys College; she learnt professional courses, such as: Accounting, Core Math, Economics, and Business. Furthermore, she got 3 A's and a B in four subjects. After graduation, she was not satisfied with her present achievement and she started to study BSC Accounting& Finance at our LSE University. She performed activity in class and assisted me to do

research, and all the work handed to her completed satisfactorily. Through five years business study, she already found a solid academic foundation, which helps her further postgraduate study well.

Apart from course work, Lee also possesses outstanding leaderLeep and extensive practical work experience. She performed Charity Team Leader of Chinese Scholars and Students Association at LES in 2008-. She worked conscientiously and responsibly, and involved in taking lead in specific events, for instance, annual volunteering teaching programme in Sichuan and Tibet, photo exhibitions, Charity Run in London, Charity Concert, and weekly fundraising events. One thing should be pointed out is that she successfully raised £1388 fund for the Overseas Chinese Students Children. In the event, she leading her peers to contact with many enterprises outside the university, gets support for school’s activities and Chinese embassy, so that she established well corporation relationship with Chinese embassy, sponsors and charity teams in universities across the UK. How brilliant she is. It is not everyone can do.

She also worked as operator and analyst at Shanghai Launch Tech.Ltd during summer holiday in 2008; furthermore, she became a guider at Grant Thornton International – Hong Kong Member Firm in 2009. All these work experience shows that she owes analytical skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work under stress.

Meanwhile, she is very cheerful, optimistic and independent. I really

consider myself very fortunate to have such a capable student. I am certain her diligence, coupling with a good competence and pleasant personality, will assure her of academic achievements in her future academic pursuits. I strongly recommend her admission without any hesitation. If you need any further information, please feel free to contact me.

King regards,

James

The lecturer of LSE

听那种一个材料配好多题(选择题)的时候,要做到耳听、理解、记录相结合的办法,这样,就算不确定,也可以在听力听完后的十分钟誊答题卡时间去回想、分析、揣摩;

Complete sentence/table/summary

a.日期,写法很多,推荐写May 22这种,简单,不怕错;

b.时间,写4.30(四点半,我们习惯写4:30,但是在真题里面出现的时间是打点的);

c.出现填人名时,如果不是一般的如Jane这种特别常见简单的名字,一般念材料的人会拼出字母,大家要做的只是听清楚每个字母,快速写下,一个不漏,首字母大写;

d.£17.50(seventeen pounds fifty 记17p50 誊答案时变£17.50);

Which paragraph contains the information?

Which paragraph contains the information?

由于是二上考场,反而想的很开了,我一再告诉自己,没事的,我的英语很好,雅思阅读这样简单的阅读难不倒我,只要快快做就好了。吸取了一战的教训,我没有在考试过程中一再抬头看时间了,我快速扫读定位抓答案,第一篇做完时二十分钟没到;

我紧接着去做第二篇,结果第二篇的前几题又是第一次碰到过的Which paragraph contains the information?题,这次我没有怕,一是因为时间充足,而是文章我搞的定(不像一战时那种让我有些无措的题材),我就一点点看一点点做,第一题确实不确定,我就大方的放下,先丢着了,直接做后面的题去了,第二篇做完四十分钟还没到;

但是一战时我碰到一个很纠结的事情,我的小作文是两个柱状图,横轴有好多元素,于是我要排一下序,进行比较,考前一晚我在笔记本上看过我自己整理的一个从第一到第九的表达法(most.../least...; X ranks second with.../X comes second in the table ; X is ranked at number three ; ...the same quantity of X as... ; 第五直接把具体数值甩出来说明(例子是The Finish and the British drink 33 and 29 litres per year respectively.); the top six countries... ; X and Y come next in seventh and eighth positions, with... ; X is placed at the bottom of the table

上升可以记动词的rise/ascend/increase/rash/go up/boom,名词的an increase of/a rise of/an upward trend of/ a grow of/ a boom of ,记住这么多同意表达之后,如果你要在一篇小作文里用三到四次上升的话,词汇随便换,名词动词表达换着来,换角度换主语,主被动结合来。

1. ,whereas/while 2.than 3.

a. In other words, ... ; b. By that I mean ; c.-that is to say

写年份 a. In 1978, b. The year 1860 saw... C.X years later/After X years

存在 a. have b. There be c. Lie/be located/situated d.倒装(eg. On the desk is a book./ In the west was a river.)

Do you study or work? / Do you have a bicycle?/ How often do you go to parks?...

Part2你会得到一张卡片,上面有让你describe什么的说明 还会有you should say:要点1、2、3 and explain why...

That’s the end of the speaking test today, thank you... You too~Have a nice day!

Dear Sir/Madam;

To Whom It May Concern:

“It is a pleasure to recommend to you (name), a former student of mine at (name of university).”

“I an very happy to have this opportunity to recommend (name), who is presently applying for admission to your graduate (or undergraduate) program in (name of program).”

“I understand that (name) is applying for admissions to your graduate (undergraduate) school, and has requested that I write this letter of recommendation for her/him.”

“In my capacity as professor at xxxx University, I have known xxx for three years, as both his/her advisor and professor.”

“(name) took two of my courses during the 1984-85 academic year, as follows; “xxxxx” and “xxxxx”.”

“(Name) was enrolled in three of classes from September 1984 to June 1986 “xxx” and “xxx”.”

“In my class (es), (name) did excellent work. She always listened attentively, participated activitely in class, and handed in very good written assignment.

“In particular, his/her research paper on (topic) was of exceptionally high quality, and showed that s/he fully understands and has a strong background in his/her field.”

“When (name) held the position of (job title) in this company she was one s/he was one of my best employees. His/her job responsibilities included (describe them), and s/he carried out his/her duties with exceptional skill and professionalism.”

“S/he not only did his/her own work, but also helped other employees, and made many valuable contributions to the efficient running to our firm.”

Dear Colleagues:

As Dean and President of Academic Committee of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering Department in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, which enjoys high reputation in Asian telecommunication field,

I am very pleased in recommending Mr. Gregory Tang to study in your renowned university.

I was his teacher of the compulsory course of encoding and data processing and the director of his graduation thesis. And we also had very close contact when he was the chief editor of our departmental newspaper,

so I knew him quite well about his academic performance and personal character.

In my course of encoding and data processing, he revealed keen appetite for knowledge by his attentive and active class participation. His well-founded mastery of the course supported by his solid mathematics background

won him the first place in the class with the term final score of 96, topping all of his fellow students. His remarkable performance in this course had given me very deep impression.

Mr. Gregory Tang is well known in the department for his diligence and perseverance in study and researches. When he was taking part in SONY Cup National University and College Students Electronic Design Competition,

I could always find him doing experiments in the lab, even late at night. And the AI Electric Scoreboard System designed by his team finally won the 2nd prize after intense competition with electronic aces from every corner of this country.

In November 1999, the appraisal team decided to recommend Mr. Gregory Tang to be enrolled as graduate students with exemption of entrance exams. But at last because of his personal pursuit and plan of development,

he abandoned this recommendation. I respected his choice of personal orientation though I felt his refusal of this offer a pity. Before his graduation, he mentioned to me in a conversation that he planned to work for
