森林，是我们地球不可缺少的一部分。森林资源作为陆地生态系统，是生态环境中最重要的组成部分，它除了提供木材和各种林副产品外，还具有涵养水分、保持水土、防风固沙、调节气候、保存生物物种、维护生态平衡等作用。

我国是一个森林资源贫乏的国家，我国森林覆盖率只有全球平均水平的2/3，排在世界第139位。人均森林面积0。145公顷，不足世界人均占有量的1/4-。严重的问题是，我国的森林资源在数量和质量方面却处于不断下降的趋势。1981年与1976年相比，全国森林面积减少了309万公顷。据调查，我国有二十三个省、市、区的森林面积是减少的，其中主要原因是乱砍滥伐、毁林开荒，和破坏生态平衡。森林资源的减少，引起气候恶化、沙尘暴、海啸，甚至还会导致物种灭绝等。

后来，通过查阅资料我了解到：沙尘暴是一种风与沙相互作用的灾害性天气现象，它的形成与森林锐减、物种灭绝、气候异常等因素有着不可分割的关系。其中，人口膨胀导致的过度开发自然资源、过量砍伐森林、过度开垦土地是沙尘暴频发的主要原因。沙尘暴作为一种高强度风沙灾害，并不是在所有有风的的地方都能发生，只有那些气候干旱、植被稀疏的地区，才有可能发生沙尘暴。在我国西北地区，森林覆盖率本来就不高，贫穷的西北人民还想靠挖甘草、搂发菜、开矿发财，这些掠夺性的破坏行为更加剧了这一地区的沙尘暴灾害。裸露的土地很容易被大风卷起形成沙尘暴甚至强沙尘暴。

这些资料都显示出：我们北京遭遇的沙尘暴其实就是因为人类过度的`砍伐森林而造成的。而乱砍树木也不只会造成沙尘暴，还可能造成泥石流、全球变暖、动物灭绝……也许我们砍伐一棵大树只要用几分钟，但是如果一棵树要长成苍天大树，又要用多少年的时间呢？
