A→Q→A(A=Article,Q=Question),即先从整体去阅读文章,后看问题,还是Q→A→Q,即先把整个问题快速看一遍,然后带着问题在文章中找答案?

Talk? Were friends.(全国,C)

Betty shrugs. Why are we talking so long? Were friends.

某一段的主题句也常出现在段首或段尾,而且常有一些表归纳关系的信号词,如in short, In a word, in brief, to sum up, to conclude等。 What is the main idea/topic of the passage? The central point of the se-lection is that. The author is mainly concerned with. The passages mainly about等。

The word“…”in the context means. The word“…”could be best replaced by… Which of the following is nearest meaning to? The word“…”probably refers to.

Which of the following is NOT included(mentioned)in the passage? Which of the following sentences is NOT true?

We can infer/learn from the(last) paragraph that. It can be concluded from the passage that. The pas-sage implies/suggests that. What can be concluded from the passage? The authors purpose of writing the passage is.

然后写出词组drown one’s sorrow in drink和looklike a drownedrat让学生猜测,学生们很快根据语境猜出意义。

This one consists of a long chain of compounds called cresol groups linked in a polymer. Cresol contains reactive components that make it highly unstable in its polymeric form,a feature…(全国高考江苏卷)由过去分词短语called cresol groups和linked in a polymer做后置定语,分别修饰a long chain of compounds 和cresol groups;定语从句that make it highly unstable in its polymeric form修饰reactive components,补充说明Cresol特性。

比如,Many students study hard. In order to improve their English, many students study so hard in the classroom that they forget to go out after class. 把The 2012 Olympic Games were held in London. The 2012 Olympic Games, which was a great success, were held in London. It was in London that the 2012 Olympic Games were held.

As for ANWR’s impact on the California power crisis, environmentalists point out that oil is responsible for only 1% of the Golden State’s electricity output and just 3% of the nation’s.

In my view,I would be very happy if we could see over night a situation in which all homes in the U.K. were cabled to receive extra services.主句是I would be very happy,主干后接if引导的状语从句,if从句中又带一个由in which引导的定语从句。

What’s the best title for the text?

The best title for this passage is ___.

Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?

What is the general/main idea of the passage?

Which of the following expresses the main idea?

What is the subject discussed in the text?

What’s the article mainly about ?

有些段落,在主题句后面有明显引出细节的信号词,如for example, an example of; first, second, next, last, finally; to begin with, also, besides; one, the other; some, others等。

如so,therefore,thus,consequently;in conclusion,in short;in a word, to sum up等来确定主题句的位置在段尾。

(1)表述过于片面,只涵盖该段个别细节;

(2)表述太过于笼统,已经超出该段的内容;

What can we learn from the passage?

All the following are mentioned except

Which of the following is mentioned (not mentioned)?

Which of the following statements is true/right/false/wrong about…?

Which of the following is the correct order of…?

Which of the following shows the path of signals described in Paragraph…?

题干关键词:infer(推断), indicate(象征,暗示), imply/suggest(暗示), conclude(作出结论), assume(假定,设想).

It can be inferred/ concluded from the text that __________.

The author implies/ suggests that_____.

We may infer that _________.

Which of the following statements is implied but NOT stated?

What do you think will happen if/when…?

At the end of this passage, the writer might continue to write_____

The passage is probably take out of_____

The passage would most likely be found in_____

Where does this text probably come from?

询问写作目的的题,选项里常出现的词是:explain(解释), prove (证明), persuade(劝说), advise(劝告), comment(评论), praise(赞扬), criticize(批评), entertain(娱乐), demonstrate(举例说明), argue(辩论), tell(讲述), analyze(分析)等。

询问语气态度的题,选项里常出现的词是:neutral(中立的), sympathetic(同情的), satisfied(满意的), friendly(友好的), enthusiastic(热情的), subjective(主观的), objective(客观的), matter-of-fact(实事求是的), pessimistic(悲观的), optimistic(乐观的), critical(批评的), doubtful(怀疑的), hostile(敌对的), indifferent(冷淡的), disappointed(失望的)。

The purpose of the text is_____

What is the main purpose of the author writing the text? By mentioning…, the author aims to show that_____

What is the author’s attitude towards…?

What is the author’s opinion on…?

The author’s tone in this passage is _____.

心译:读一句心译一句,句句必须借助汉语译文方能理解;

指读:阅读时总是用指头或笔尖等指着句子,边移边读;

逐字逐句:一字一句,字字重视,句句关心,生怕漏掉一个单词,眉毛胡子一把抓;

见生即查:阅读时欲将生词各个击破,完全扫清阅读障碍,认为只要没有生词,便可洞悉文章;

出声:阅读时发出声音,全篇诵读,字字句句,丝毫不拉;

唇读:阅读时虽没有发出声音,但唇随句变,词带舌移,只是声带未颤,声音未出;

以xx年中考xx卷b篇为例,我们可以将重点表达先进行连线:a happy new mother------a baby without ears------was called freak------someone donated his/her ears------a new person appeared------married and lived a happy life------his mother’s body without ears; 再对文本进行情景联想,一出由伟大的母亲、无耳的畸形男孩和老成持重的爸爸三人联合演绎的动情故事便会顿时跃入脑海,一幕幕催人泪下的感人场景便会浮现在眼前。

Some of the concerns surrounding Turkey’s application to join the European Union, to be voted on by the EU’s Council of Ministers on December 17th, are economic-in particular, the country’s relative poverty. Its GDP per head is less than a third of the average for the 15 pre- members of the EU. But it is not far off that of one of the ten new members which joined on May 1st 2004 (Latvia), and it is much the same as those of two countries, Bulgaria and Romania, which this week concluded accession talks with the EU that could make them full members on January 1st .

Furthermore, the country’s recent economic progress has been, according to Donald Johnston, the secretary-general of the OECD, stunning. GDP in the second quarter of the year was 13.4% higher than a year earlier, a rate of growth that no EU country comes close to matching. Turkey’s inflation rate has just fallen into single figures for the first time since 1972, and this week the country reached agreement with the IMF on a new three-year, $10 billion economic programme that will, according to the IMF’s managing director, Rodrigo Rato, help Turkey... reduce inflation toward European levels, and enhance the economy’s resilience.

Resilience has not historically been the country’s economic strong point. As recently as , GDP fell by over 7%. It fell by more than 5% in 1994, and by just under 5% in . Indeed, throughout the 1990s growth oscillated like an electrocardiogram recording a violent heart attack. This irregularity has been one of the main reasons (along with red tape and corruption) why the country has failed dismally to attract much-needed foreign direct investment. Its stock of such investment (as a percentage of GDP) is lower now than it was in the 1980s, and annual inflows have scarcely ever reached $1 billion (whereas Ireland attracted over $25 billion in , as did Brazil in every year from to ).

One deterrent to foreign investors is due to disappear on January 1st . On that day, Turkey will take away the right of virtually every one of its citizens to call themselves a millionaire. Six noughts will be removed from the face value of the lira; one unit of the local currency will henceforth be worth what 1m are now-ie, about 0.53 ($0.70). Goods will have to be priced in both the new and old lira for the whole of the year, but foreign bankers and investors can begin to look forward to a time in Turkey when they will no longer have to juggle mentally with indeterminate strings of zeros.

But it is not far off that of one of the ten new members which joined on May 1st 2004 (Latvia), and it is much the same as those of two countries, Bulgaria and Romania, which this week concluded accession talks with the EU that could make them full members on January 1st 2007.

主体句式:it is not far off that…and it is much the same as..

【English literature】

Some of the notebooks George Washington kept as a young man are still in existence. They show that he was learning Latin, was very interested in the basics of good behavior in society, and was reading English literature.

Passage 1

【resources】

The resources of the library can be helpful even when we are doing something very informal, such as trying to devise a better way to measure attitudes toward music or looking for a better way to teach mathematics The library can be equally helpful when we are doing something very formal, such as writing a dissertation(学位论文)or preparing an article for publication in a professional journal. In either case, our goal should be to use the library as a useful tool to help us understand and solve our problem

The following sections of this chapter will describe specific resources available in many libraries. In some cases you may already be aware of a resource and may use it frequently and successfully. In other cases you may be completely unfamiliar with a resource.Your goal should be to become aware of what is available and to know how to use each of these resources to help you solve the problem they are designed to solve.

【The Best of Friends】

The evidence for harmony may not be obvious in some families. But it seems that four out of five young people now get on with their parents, which is the opposite of the popularly-held image(形象)of unhappy teenagers locked in their room after endless family quarrels.

An important new study into teenage attitudes surprisingly shows that their family life is more harmonious than it has ever been in the past.“We were surprised by just how positive today’s young people seem to be about their families,” said one member of the research team. “They’re expected to be rebellious(叛逆的)and selfish, but actually they have other things on their minds: they want a car and material goods, and they worry about whether school is serving them well. There’s more negotiation(商议)and discussion between parents and children, and children expect to take part in the family decision-making process. They don’t want to rock the boat.”

So it seems that this generation of parents is much more likely than parents of 30 years ago to treat their children as friends.“My parents are happy to discuss things with me and willing to listen to me," says 17-year-old Daniel Lazall. “I always tell them when I’m going out clubbing. As long as they know what I’m doing, they’re fine with it.” Susan Crome, who is now 21, agrees. “Looking back on the last 10 years, there was a lot of what you could call negotiation. For example, as long as I’d done all my homework, I could go out on a Saturday night. But I think my grandparents were a lot stricter with my parents than that.”

Maybe this positive view of family life should not be unexpected. It is possible that the idea of teenage rebellion is not rooted in real facts. A researcher comments,“Our surprise that teenagers say they get along well with their parents comes because of a brief period in our social history when teenagers were regarded as different beings. But that idea of rebelling and breaking away from their parents really only happened during that one time in the 1960s when everyone rebelled. The normal situation throughout history has been a smooth change from helping out with the family business to taking it over.”

67. What is the popular image of teenagers today? A. They worry about school.

B. They dislike living with their parents. C, They have to be locked in to avoid troubles. D. They quarrel a lot with other family members.

68. The study shows that teenagers don’t want to__________ . A. share family responsibility B. cause trouble in their families C. go boating with their family D. make family decisions

69. Compared with parents of 30 years ago, today’s parents__________ . A. go to clubs more often with their children B. are much stricter with their children

C. care less about their children’s life D. give their children more freedom 70. According to the author, teenage rebellion__________ . A. may be a false belief B. is common nowadays

C. existed only in the 1960s D. resulted from changes in families

71. What is the passage mainly about?

A. Negotiation in family. B. Education in family. C. Harmony in family. D. Teenage trouble in family.

根据第一段“which is the opposite of the popularly-held image of unhappy teenagers locked in their room after endless family quarrels.”

根据第二段最后一句“They don’t want to rock the boat.”

根据第三段第一句“So it seems that this generation of parents is much more likely than parents of 30 years ago to treat their children as friends.”和Susan Crome的描述“Looking back on the last 10 years, there was a lot of what you could call negotiation.”

根据最后一段第二句“It is possible that the idea of teenage rebellion is not rooted in real facts.”

Questions 21 to 25 are based on the following passage:

Joblessness is far more than an economic misfortune. It can be a psychological disaster for the unemployed and their families. It can cause illness, divide families and create a downward spiral of feelings of worthlessness and lack of self esteem.According to research done by M. Harvery Brenner, associate professor of health at Johns Hopkins University, every 1% increase in the unemployment rate translates into 37,000 deaths over the next 6 years, including over 20,000 deaths from heart attcks,900 suicides and nearly 500 deaths from cirrhosis of the liver. In addition,Brenner estimates that 7,500 unemployed or their families will be admitted to prison after committing a crime or to a mental hospital.

“The impact goes well beyond the individual who loses a job,”said Brenner.“stress caused by economic factors affects our national life at every level.”Men who have been socialized as the family breadwinner are especially hard hit by unemployment. They suffer greater depression and anxiety and have a higher possibility of psychotic behavior than men who are employed.

“Nine months seems to be a crucial point when hope and patience give out,”said a leading psychologist. After that,“illness, suicide, alcoholism, divorce, and even crime grow at epidemic rate.”Left without a job, many workers feel they have nothing to look forward to.They miss their coworkers and the routine of going to work. For many, the sense of hopelessness grows worse every time they are rejected for a new job. When this happens often enough, the rejection unemployed workers feel may be exacerbated if some friends and neighbors avoid them as if they had a contagious disease.
