(一)书信
概述
书信是人们在日常生活和工作中进行交际的工具,也是高考书面表达中常见的考试文体。由于民族语言和习惯上的差异,英语信件在书写格式及表达方式上与汉语不大一样,有些地方迥然不同。本章将向大家介绍一般格式及各种常见信件,如家信、祝贺信、道歉信及自荐信等。
一般格式
英文书信的构成可分为8个部分:
信头(Heading), 日期(Date), 收信人姓名及地址(Inside Name and Address), 称呼(Salutation), 信文(Body of the letter), 结束语(Complimentary close), 署名(Signature), 附言(P. S.)
(1)信头(Heading)
信头是指发信人的单位名称或地址。一般情况下发信人只需把自己的地址写(打字,手写均可)在信的右上角,离开信纸的顶头约1英寸,占二三行或四行均可,格式如下:①齐头式 ②缩进式
注意:写地址的次序与中文不同,应先写门牌号码街道,然后城市和国名。写地址时采用齐头或缩进式,以及每行后要不要加标点符号,都没有固定的规定。如写给经常往来的亲友,这项地址也可以省略。
(2)日期(Date): 写日期注意下列各点:①年份应写全,例如不能用“99”来代替“”;②月份应写英文名称,除May, July外,可用缩写,如:Sep., Oct.。但不要用数字来代替,如7/4/99 或7, 4, 99,因为在英国此日期代表 7th April,1999,而美国则代表4th July,1999。 ③日期可用1,2,3,4…11,12…21,22…31等,也可用lst,2nd,3rd,4th…11th,21th…22nd…31st等。
日期的几种写法:a.July 7, b.1st October, 1998 c.30 Nov., d.Sep. 3rd, 1999
④特别注意英文书信日期应紧接着写信人地址下一行,不能像写中文书信那样写在书信签名之后,这是很多学生的常见错误。
(3)收信人姓名及地址(Inside Name and Address)
写信人的地址和日期写好以后,接着就要写收信人的姓名和地址,一般的事务信件或给较生疏的朋友的信件要写,而在给极熟的朋友的信中则可省去。这一项写在日期下一行的左上角。收信人姓名写一行,收信人地址可分两行或三行写,和写信人的地址一样,上下可取齐,也可以向右缩进。在姓名前一般要加上称号,称号因人而异。
①对普通男子用Mr;②对未婚女子用Miss;③对已婚女子用Mrs,对婚姻状况不明确的通常用Ms(后跟本人姓);
④对男子用Master;⑤对教授或博士(医生)用Prof.或Dr.
(4)称呼(Salutation)
称呼指的是信文开头的那种称呼,如Dear , Mr, Uncle,各种称呼因人而异。在称呼后面一般是用逗号,但也有用冒号的。现归纳如下:①对父母、兄弟、姐妹等;a.Father, b.My dear Mother, c. Dear Sister, d. Dear Tom,
②对亲戚:a.My dear Auntie, b.Dear Cousin, c.My dear Cousin,
③对朋友、同学a.My dear friend, b.Dear Mr Jackson, c.My dear Mr Jackson, d.Dear Sir,
④对未婚女子:a.Dear Miss Luce, b.My dear Miss Luce,
⑤对一般女子,不论是否结婚:a.Madame, b.Dear Madame,
⑥对已婚女子:a.Dear Mrs Helen Jackson, b.My dear Mrs Helen Jackson,
⑦对公司、工厂、学校等:a.Dear Sirs, b.Sirs, c.Gentlemen,
(5)信文(Body of the letter)
信文是信件的主体部分,也就是信的内容。正文应在称呼下两行开始。信的开头第一个字母通常和称呼开头第一个词平齐。也有往后退四个或八个字母的。下面介绍一些开头语和结尾语。
开头语
①相当于中文的“敬君者”。

②相当于中文的“接读某月某日来信,一切知悉”。

结尾语
采用三种方法:
①采用分词短语:句末用逗号,不用句号。例如:
a.Waiting for your good news,
b.Looking forward to your early reply,
c.Hoping to hear from you soon,
d.Hoping you are enjoying good health,
e.Regretting that I can't give you a more favorite reply,
f.Regretting the trouble I'm causing you,
g.Wishing you every success,

②采用介词短语,例如:

③采用完整句子:

(6)结束语(Complimentary Close)
结束语的一般写法如下:
① 业务书信常用:Yours faithfully, Faithfully yours, Yours truly, Truly yours, Sincerely yours,
② 公函常用:Yours respectfully, Respectfully yours, Yours sincerely,
③私人书信常用:Sincerely yours, Yours very sincerely, Yours affectionately, Yours ever,
④给亲戚朋友的信常用:Love, All my love, Your(ever)loving son/daughter/cousin , etc.

(7)署名(Signature)
下面是署名的例子:

(8)附言(Postscript)
发信人有时在写完信后又想起一件比较重要的事没有说,可以在信末署名下面几行写上, P. S. (Postscript
的缩写),然后将要补充的话写上。不过要注意写信时最好将事情一次讲清楚,尽量少用或不用P.S.。

第一,写好句子
1) 熟悉并掌握形成完整句子的基本框架结构。我们知道,单词、语法是学习、掌握和运用语言的基础,然而只靠它们拼凑句子是远远不够的,耗时费力不说,拼凑出来的也多是汉语式的英语,很不地道。因此,考生平时必须牢记所学过的“固定搭配”及“词组句型”,并会活用。写句子要注意以下几点:(1)主谓要一致;(2)正确使用动词的时态、语态、语气;(3)名词的格要与代词的格一致;(4)句子结构成分完整,特别注意不要漏掉或添加成分。
2)一个句子一个重心,句意清楚,合乎逻辑。

初中英语书面表达探讨
英语书面表达是学生笔头交际的一个重要方式。但是我通过对新课程改革后的115名级学生的跟踪调查与分析,得出了目前初中生英语写作能力较差,总体上呈现下滑趋势的结论。那么如何提高学生的写作水平呢?我认为需从以下两方面入手。
一、了解学生英语书面表达存在的问题
老师要帮助学生提高英语书面表达的水平,就要先看看学生在英语书面表达上主要存在哪些问题,这样才能确定教学的方向和目标,以下列出了扬州市这几年中考英语书面表达学生失分的情况:
(一)内容要点的完整性。
内容要点齐全,这是中考书面表达的首要要求。评卷时,阅卷老师先根据考生的内容要点初步确定作文的档次。若缺少一个要点,往往要降低一个档次,也就是要减少2分。
(二)语言表达的准确性。
准确性是指要求写出语法正确的句子,包括时态、语态、用词和句法等,但是不少考生受汉语思维习惯的影响,在写作时不自觉产生不规范的表达,比方:“有很多学生正在操场上玩耍。”学生会这样译:“There are many students are playing on the playground.”要做到准确、地道地表达文章,首先必须牢记掌握一些常用的句型或习惯表达,避免中文式英语,在实践中不断总结中英表达差异,养成用英语思维写作的习惯。
(三)语篇结合的连贯性。
连贯性是指根据整篇文章意思的需要,有效采用不同的连接手段,以使文章层次清晰,行文连贯。关联词就是常用的连接手段之一。这些表示逻辑关系的关联词语,使文章前后连贯,结合紧凑,过渡自然,如表示顺序的first,then,finally;表示时间的in the past,now at present in the future;表示转折的but,however等。
(四)文章的层次感要强。
不少学生从上向下一气呵成,没有开头的提出话题,主体的细节描述,文章结尾的归纳总结。其中还含有很多次重点的构建,这是对学生思维能力的挑战。
(五)篇幅在允许的词数范围之内。
文章词数的多少直接影响对文章的评分。这是一个很容易让考生忽视的问题,所以考生在写作时要确保文章词数在题目要求的范围之内。
二、加强书面表达能力的培养
(一)夯实基础,培养能力。
1.过好词汇关,踏实词汇与短语。英国语言学家D.wilkins说:“我们不能接受语法比词汇更重要的说法,没有语法,人们表达的事物寥寥无几,而没有词汇,人们则无法表达任何东西。”一定的词汇量是学生发展语言能力的必要基础,而听写是促使学生掌握单词和短语拼写的有效方式。江苏省丰县第二中学周兴东提出的“3.8”效果很不错,每节课进行8分钟的听写,他主张听写内容有三:单词与词组、单句、段落;听写难度有三:基础、中档、高档各占30%,以及听写形式、听写作业的布置批改等。听写的内容尽量以学生们的兴趣、爱好或熟知为出发点。
2.加强语法训练。熟悉语法规则是英语写作得以顺利进行的条件。学习语法可帮助学生更准确地理解语言现象并表达思想感情,使学生在写作时少走弯路,少出错误,提高正确运用语言的自觉性,降低盲目性。
3.日常教学细思量,写作意识长培养。培养写作能力不是一蹴而就的事情,日积月累才有质的飞跃。牛津初中英语教材每个单元分有八个板块,在每单元Main Task板块要求学生习作。自初一起,我就加强对十级学生书面表达能力的培养。初一学生笔头作文刚起步,于是我总是让学生仿写。随着知识积累的增加,到初二时,就逐渐地和学生分析研究话题文章的结构,总体上有三部分:Introduction,Main body,Conclusion,并在平时的教学中不断为学生创设新的情境,让他们拓展想象的空间,发散思维,学生的综合运用能力在老师的一次次点拨中就无形地提高了。比方:我市多家中小学响应市政府的倡议“家在扬州・文明餐桌行动”,展开相关“光盘行动”的活动。请以“Against Food Waste”为题,用英语写一篇短文。我和同学们就此话题进行讨论,列举同学们展开光盘行动的一些实际做法。
(二)掌握技巧,训练提高。
虽然英语书面表达形式灵活多变,但万变不离其宗,把握完成书面表达的基本方法和技巧是关键。
1.审题。根据题目所提供的信息,分析、判断出题意图,明确文章体裁与时态。不同的题材对应不同的时态。现将几种常用时态及所用体裁总结如下:
2.谋篇。围绕题目给出的信息,编排文章的体系:开头如何交代所发生的事情,主体部分如何对话题进行阐述补充,结尾如何对文章总结归纳。并要考虑好句与句之间的.过渡衔接,拓展性的地方的合理发挥,简洁扼要的结尾归纳。比方说:4月20日雅安发生重大地震,人员伤亡很大,针对该话题我和同学们展开小组讨论。经过热烈的讨论,大家达成这样的共识:在第一段介绍这次地震的时间、地点及后果。在第二段阐述地震后各地人们及政府都积极采取行动。第三段提出对雅安人民的祝福。
3.认真誊写,卷面美化。“见文如见人”,“文如其人”,所以誊写过程要求整洁美观,字体要端正清晰。
(三)当场展示,明白得失。
对学生的写作要做到有问题必究,以及让学生欣赏优美文章是如何写的,这就需要老师做作文后的诊断,收集问题作文进行归类探究,挑选高质量的优秀作文学习。在不断的探讨中,学生的作文会有很大的改变。下面是一篇学生的习作:

首先,审题,条理清楚
保证不跑提示写作当中第一任务,第二个重要任务就是要做到条理清楚。对于议论文来说,正反面要清楚,对于说明文来说条理要清楚,对于描述文来说,谁干什么要清楚。
写主题句
主题句是确保不跑题的前提,只有不跑题才有可得及格分。写主题句嘴保险的'方法就是把中文提纲的各句译成英语。
问题阐述
适当用被动替换主动,这样能更客观地反映事实。一句话用不同的句式来表达。
保证作文符合字数要求
作文120-150个字,考生一般都希望作文达到字数而又不至于写得太多,因为写得太多一方面暴露自己语言上的弱点,另一方面又会占用过多

一、考点聚焦
书面表达题旨在测试考生的英语表达能力,看其是否能够运用学过的英语知识和掌握的技能进行思想交流。从历年高考试卷来看,书面表达是指导性写作,即按照题目所给的目的、时间、对象、地点、内容、长度等条件去完成写作。它不同于命题作文,可以随意发挥;也不是简单的句子翻译。必须做到行文切题,紧扣中心思想,不漏要点,并且意思连贯,文理通顺,语言准确、得当。
二、应试技巧点拨
1.首先要认真审题。读懂题目所给信息,初步确定要点内容,并可用序号标出以免遗忘。
2.列题纲使用要点条理化,序化,统筹安排布局。
3.勿要直译,需意译。尤其对看图情景作文要构建完整故事结构,不可逐句罗列了事。
4.要刻意把好语言关。要用自己最熟悉的句型结构和词语,力求文理通顺,语言准确。没有把握的词句不要写,确有把握的的可以锦上添花。
5.遇到一时想不起的词语,需变通。可以用同义近义词代替,也可以用否定词加反义词来表达,亦可变换句式。不可钻牛角尖,更不能生造词语,汉化表达。
6.注意文章的长度。看具体内容而定,如果内容多应多用复杂句式,如果内容不多,为了达到词的限数应多用简单句式,并适当增补合理内容。
7.注意保持卷面整洁,书写工整清楚,书写的好坏会直接影响阅卷老师的情绪。
8.最后应注意复查全文。看内容要点有无遗漏,标点、格式、大小写是否规范,是否有语病等。
