As part of an ongoing study on genes and aging, researchers found this year that certain personality traits seem to be associated with a longer life, including the propensity to laugh -- a lot!

In the same study on aging, optimism was also linked to living longer. The 243 subjects over the age of 95 “were outgoing, optimistic and easygoing. They considered laughter an important part of life and had a large social network. They expressed emotions openly rather than bottling them up,” study researcher Dr. Nir Barzilai, M.D., director of Einsteins Institute for Aging Research, said in a statement.

Adults in their 60s and 70s were 9 percent less likely to die over a three-year period when they took vitamin D supplements with calcium, compared to the elderly who went without either supplement.

只此纪念一二·九运动六十六周年之际,能够站在这里演讲我感到高兴与荣幸。
经过了六十六年的一二·九运动,早已记入了中国革命的历史。它的事迹,它的精神也早已铭刻进了我们在座每一位的心中。我在这里就不再多作赘述了,因为它永远不会退色,在我们心中,它的精神只会越来越崇高,越来越伟大。
今天,站在这里回眸20世纪,我们发现,科学技术从来没有像今天这样深刻地影响和改变着社会、经济、文化、观念——以至我们赖以生存的地球。当人告别茹毛饮血,刀耕火种的蒙昧时代,经过了数千年的血雨腥风,艰辛跋涉,终于迎来了一个新时代。蒸汽机的出现和电的发明,把人类从农业经济社会带入工业经济社会。机器的轰鸣打破了往日的宁静,灿烂的灯光照亮了千家万户,目不暇接的新发现、新发明使人类成就了超越过去数千年创造的文明总和几百倍的业绩。
历史悠久的中国却因为没有跟上工业革命的步伐而在近代落伍了,并因落伍而遭受帝国主义列强的凌辱。为了重新崛起、雪洗国耻,中华民族的仁人志士在黑暗中探索,奋斗了100多年,直到新中国的成立为中华民族点燃了重新崛起的希望。在中国共产党的带领下,我们的先辈们使中国发生了翻天覆地的变化,创造出了10多亿人的大国连续保持10多年的高速增长。
奇迹啊!
中国站起来了!
但是,笼罩在我们头上的阴影还远没有散去。
就在这个新的世纪来临之时,我国的驻外使馆无端被炸,它国的侦察机公然侵入我国的领空,直接导致了我海军航空兵王伟同志的牺牲。一个泱泱大国的主权为何一再受到挑衅?这,就是国力的差距。
我想,日本人现在已经达到了他们在“二战”中没有达到的目的。“二战”中他们用飞机、用大炮无非是想征服中国人,从中国人那里掠夺财富。现在,他们可以笑嘻嘻地,把大量的中国财富掠夺到日本去!这,就是技术差距。
这些差距摆在眼前,压抑在心头,使我无法心安理得地自称为“炎黄子孙”。
我的话可能有些人不爱听,不愿意听,因为在座的有些人听不得带有任何革命性的语言,容不得带有任何传统意义的词汇。谁使用了这样的语言和词汇,就说你是“马列主义老太太”,说你是在喊“空洞的革命口号”。
我理解这样的心情。在学业上我们都是不幸的失败者,都曾落了榜。规律是无情的,我们不能怨天尤人,我们必须向前看,必须面向未来。我们又是幸运的。不管我们愿不愿意承认,我们都是江泽民同志<<关于教育问题的谈话>>的受益者,都是教育制度改革的受益者,被负于了新的使命。我们要肩负起我们国家在21世纪初叶发展高新技术的重任,我们是使我们国家在知识经济发展道路上赶上发达国家的最关键的一代。
同学们,你们可曾感到了肩上的压力?你们应感到,你要感到。因为,这,中国的天由你们来撑,中国的地任你们来踏,你们是中国的未来。
和你们一样作为大学生,我们必须具有艰苦奋斗的思想,我们必须发扬中华民族的优良传统,我们必须提倡爱国敬业,艰苦奋斗的精神,去重现中华民族新的辉煌。
等到有一天,我们在这里一跺脚,美国佬伸向轰炸我国驻外使馆巡航导弹按钮的罪恶之手就得缩回去——到了那时,我才能心安理得、问心无愧地对祖**亲,对全世界所有的民族高呼,我是炎黄子孙!
六十六年前,先辈们是为了“中国崛起而读书。”他们做到了。今天,即将踏上历史舞台的我们,作为新世纪大学生,我们要为“中国腾飞而读书!”

各位领导、老师,亲爱的同学们:
大家好!
在这万物复苏,阳光明媚的春天,在这团结奋进、喜讯不断的美好时刻,我们共同迎来了我校第xx届春季田径运动会的隆重召开。
在此,我很荣幸地代表全体运动员向本次运动会的召开致以热烈的祝贺!对前来参加大会的各位领导、家长、同学们表示热烈的欢迎和衷心的感谢!
本届田径运动会的开展是我校在推行素质教育、发展体育运动、提高学生身体素质方面的重要举措,是磨炼学生意志,增强拼搏精神的一次大型体育盛会,它将充分呈现出我校素质教育的新风貌,展示出我校体育教育的新成果,我相信,我们的运动员同学一定能在这次运动会上大显身手,充分展示自己平时刻苦训练的成果,赛出风格,赛出水平。同时我也希望,通过这次运动会进一步推动我们的群体活动,让同学们学会健体,学会强身,真正成为全面发展的人才。
在这庄严的主席台上,我谨代表全体运动员宣誓:听从指挥、服从裁判,在比赛中坚韧顽强、拼搏进取、赛出风格、赛出水平、赛出成绩。
