Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen:
Today I would like to begin with a story. There was once a physical therapist who traveled all the way from America to Africa to do a census about mountain gorillas. These gorillas are a main attraction to tourists from all over the world; this put them severely under threat of poaching and being put into the zoo. She went there out of curiosity, but what she saw strengthened her determination to devote her whole life to fighting for those beautiful creatures. She witnessed a scene, a scene taking us to a place we never imaged we've ever been, where in the very depth of the African rainforest, surrounded by trees, flowers and butterflies, the mother gorillas cuddled their babies.
Yes, that's a memorable scene in one of my favorite movies, called Gorillas in the Mist, based on a true story of Mrs. Diana Fossey, who spent most of her lifetime in Rwanda to protect the ecoenvironment there until the very end of her life.
To me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a timeless reminder that we should not develop the tourist industry at the cost of our eco-environment.

One day in 1819, 3,000 miles off the coast of Chile, in one of the most remote regions of the Pacific Ocean, 20 American sailors watched their ship flood with seawater.
They'd been struck by a sperm whale, which had ripped a catastrophic hole in the ship's hull. As their ship began to sink beneath the swells, the men huddled together in three small whaleboats.
These men were 10,000 miles from home, more than 1,000 miles from the nearest scrap of land. In their small boats, they carried only rudimentary navigational equipment and limited supplies of food and water.
These were the men of the whaleship Essex, whose story would later inspire parts of “Moby Dick.”
Even in today's world, their situation would be really dire, but think about how much worse it would have been then.

what do i learn from this experience? never give up lightly! life's full of opportunities, and lots of them! to realize your dreams and fulfill your potential, you must learn to work hard and smart and steer your lifeboat wisely! as a li ling's sportswear commercial goes “everything is possible!” but not without sweat, devotion, and tears sometimes!
life is a long journey, during which we are surely going to face many challenges, experience lots of failures, and equally, many opportunities are waving to us, while sweet rewards are waiting for us! to transform these opportunities into fruitful results, or turn those challenges and failures into valuable assets, we must learn to seize the good ones and not to retreat lightly in front of difficulties.
winners can never be quitters!
thank you all!

ladies and gentlemen, teachers, my fellow students:
i am very excited and feel it's a great honor to stand here to deliver my speech. what i'm going to talk about is “choice in my life”
i can still remember the first time i failed in a singing contest. i immediately ran to my grandma, shedding lots of tears of course! i cried loudly and could hardly utter a word!
then, badly needed comforting words and touch came from grandma. i gradually regained my sense of pride and a sensible control of my feelings. yet, head down, i said: “grandma, i have no choice, and i have to give up, right?” “look at me, my dear!”she said gently. i looked up, straight into her eyes. what i saw was a shining, sweet, and loving stream from the bottom of her heart! then, there came the gentle voice of hers: “no, no, no…” her head shaking, while eyes smiling. “why don't you give more attention to the details?” she continued.
no other words were needed any more! i started practicing and rehearsing once again, paying special attention to those little things that i used to ignore. as a consequence, my overall performance was quickly elevated to a new high! without much trouble, in another singing contest held months later, i won!

英语小故事演讲稿
today i am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. what is success? it is what everyone is longing for.sometimes success would be rather simple. winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now i am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success. however, as a person's whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. is fortune success? is fame success? is high social status success? no, i don’t think so. i believe success is the realization of people's hopes and ideals.nowadays, in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful. and the most obvious characteristics of them are money, high position and luxurious life. so most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. but the problem is wether it is real success. we all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. if we keep chasing them, where is the end? what will satisfy us at last? therefore, we can see, to get the real success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people's hopes and ideals. different people have different ideas about success; cause people's hopes and ideas vary from one another. but i am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. these are the best treasures. so now i am very proud that i have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. it is my success, cause i raise up to challenge my hope. what is success? everyone has his own interpretation as i do. but i am sure every success leads to an ever-brighter future. so ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life! wish you all good success!

Best Reward
A naval officer fell overboard. He was rescued by a deck hand. The officer asked how he could reward him.
“The best way, sir,” said the deck hand, “is to say nothing about it. If the other fellows knew I‘d pulled you out, they‘d chuck me in.”

篇9:英语小故事
There was a sturdy ram with a pair of thick horns upright on its head.
It strutted about proudly and saw a fence built with bamboo and wood in front, which blocked its way. It cast a sidelong glance at the fence, lowered its neck and lunged at the fence, hoping to knock it down. The fence remained intact but the ram injured its own horns.
If it had not injured its horns, the ram would have persisted obstinately in butting against the fence, even against the spokes of a wheel until it bled with a fractured skull.
As a result, with its horns caught in the fence, the ram could neither advance nor retreat butbleat helplessly.

Ping Gong of Jin ordered someone to make a stringed musical instrument. The strings of the instrument were of the same size, with no difference between the small strings and the large string. After the instrument was made. Ping Gong of Jin asked Shi Kuang, an official in charge of music, to tune the instrument. Shi Kuang spent a whole day doing it, but failed to tune out a melody.
Ping Gong blamed Shi Kuang for his incompetence. Shi Kuang explained: “The large string of a musical instrument is like the king of a state, and the small strings are like his subordinates. The large string and the small strings have their own functions. Only by coordinating with one another can they compose temperament, and only by being orderly can they playharmonious and pleasant music. Now there is no difference in size between the large string and the small strings. This ruins the system and regularity which they should have. How can I tune an instrument like this?”

“Little Prince” is about to tell a story of alien children to live in avery small planet, that planet there is only one him, he has to take care of theplanet, he is the planet the little prince, grown up, he went to other planetstravel, has encountered all sorts of people (aliens)。 Finally he came to theauthor encountered on Earth, and then died here
Look at this book, adults should not ripe to look at the mentality, to thepoint of view of your heart to understand it. the Little Prince has a pure heartand a rich imagination.
When the little prince left his planet, on the road, when a king, and thatKing would just like to control all rational, this is not like us? Especiallywhen the teacher, like to go to other people, because order that other peoplecan find themselves high up above and become a king, others only obeys.
The second encounter is love are people who love to be admired him, praisehim anything except hear, in fact, we ourselves do they not? Others as long asone to praise himself, we do not carried away on it? Through this we can easilybecome conceited person, but also easy for the offensive.
There drunkard, but also a businessman, even to light lamps and geographer,I think those people is equivalent to our portrayal of the real world, love theorder, and love to be admired, I would like to re-occupy the possession, finallyleft with nothing … …
I think the Little Prince This book is a family book, in this book, I canfeel that for whom fame for modern day busy round, but not know they have a deepimpact on the younger generation, small Prince did not understand why adultswant to do that? Like all children have the same do not know. So I felt, howmany more to understand the needs of children, and is no longer a randomperfunctory, more children to learn about the ideas, interests, rather thanrestraint.
I am prince from an early age I learned one thing, the really importantthings, the eyes are invisible. Really important things is to look atmotives.
篇12:英语小演讲稿
in order to enrich my summer vacation, which the extracurricular reading,my mother bought me a book titled the little prince is. i was wondering, what isthe prince to man? a: i can't wait to get books and read it.
see the introduction section, i just know, this book in the east and westare very famous, adults and children are like books. no wonder the teacher toldus to buy the book. this book is about the little one lives in only one room, the planet for his roses watering everyday. later, he left the planet, travel, saw many strange people, in order to develop their horizons, and he came to thedesert, he met an airplane pilots of broken. prince offered to help him, and heforged a deep friendship, in the book describes the prince since leaving, hemissed his star rose to leave earth, he tried every way, even a little snakebites, and since then pilot never saw his wonderful description, etc.
reading this book, i finally understood the purity of heart. like theprince deeply in love with him, in order not to let the rose flower, he wasstill please sheep eats sheep pilot drew a mask, for him, as he rose, if notjust like all planets are lost. this is how sincere feelings! still say thatfox, even little left, it will forever remember him.
this story has many implication, tell us, not deceive, also don't puffedup, also do not have meaning in the waste of time and money, we should maintainthe balance of baby mindset to finally, earnestly do every thing. ...
i like the book, read a book, i learned that many human reason, alsoincreased my knowledge, and maybe i know the original adults will have many dowrong. the grown-ups do every thing, all is not correct, and so we see thingsshould go to watch it, just like the teacher to our request, and we hope thatthe child in the growth process, always keep a pure heart, to treat every thing,to find something we really must find in study, therefore, we should also withthe same attitude to study hard, pursuing ideal goal.

once when i was six years old, i saw a magnificent picture in a book, calledtrue stories from nature, about the primeval forest. it was a picture of a boaconstrictor in the act of swallowing an animal. here is a copy of thedrawing.
in the book it said:“ boa constrictors swallow their prey whole, withoutchewing it. after that they are not able to move, and they sleep through the sixmonths that they need for digestion.”
i pondered deeply, then, over the adventures of the jungle. and after somework with a colored pencil i succeeded in making my first drowing,my drawingnumber one. it looked like this:
i showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups, and asked them whether thedrawing frightened them.
but they answered:“frighten? why should any one be frightened by ahat?”
my drawing was not a picture of a hat. it was a picture of a boaconstrictor digesting an elephant. but since the grown-ups were not able tounderstand it, i made another drawing: i drew the inside of the boaconstrictor,so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. they always need to havethings explained. my drawing number two looked like this:
the grown-ups response, this time, was to adviseme to lay aside my drawingof boa constrictors, whether from the inside or the outside and devote myselfinstead to geography, history, arithmetic and grammar. that is why, at the ageof six, i gave up what might have been a magnificent career as a painter. i hadbeen disheartened by the failure of my drawing number one and my drawing numbertwo. grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it si tiresome forchildren to be always and forever explaining things to them.
so then i chose another profession, and learned to pilot airplanes.
i have flown a little over all parts of the world:and it is ture thatgeography has been very useful to me. at a glance i can distinguish china fromarizona. if one gets lost in the night, such knowledge is valuable.
篇14:英语小演讲稿
Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-talestories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me thinkof some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. Thissummer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s theworld-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The LittlePrince.
As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not verycomplex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has somethingwrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes theacquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, theAsteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because hehas some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he lefthis own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.
On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds ofpeople, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, alamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that thegrown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descendsin the Sahara, on the earth.
Traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden offive-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considershis rose is unique in the universe before. At that time a fox appears. The fox,who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word “tame”, becomes his newfriend. At the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose isunique because she is his rose and tamed by him. From that the little princebegins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.
At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’sadvice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. “It’s too far. I cannot carry this body with me. It’s too heavy.” he said. He tells his friend, thepilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. At the end theauthor doesn’t tell us the ending directly. Maybe it’s more significant for usto imagine, and for more, think over.
One of the important characters is the rose. Growing on the planet, she isvery beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot. Inspite of they love each other, he soon becomes unhappy. On the time of hisdeparture, he just knows she certainly loves him. The character of the littleprince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds. Onthe contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, thebusinessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in thegrown-up’s world. The real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, Iguess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but notothers “matters of consequence” of the grown-ups.
Unbelievable, this little book moved me a lot. I seldom think about thetrue meaning of love and life before. Well, now I can say, with my shortsixteen-year’s life experience, it’s like the stars in the sky that lit myheart. The little prince is not only an ordinary fairy-tale for children, butalso for grown-ups, and our teenagers. Nevertheless, when I read this book, Ifeel a little sad – about ourselves, whom are losing more and more innocence
