Good evening. It’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech. What I am going to talk about today is the road to success.

There is no doubt that everyone wants to achieve success. Me either. But what is success and how can we succeed? In my opinion, success is just like climbing mountains. All these achievements, you know, it’s not about a single moment of inspiration or brilliance, it’s about years and years of hard work and practice. When it comes to success, there are no shortcuts.

To clarify my view, I would like to give an example. Michael Jordan, the basketball superstar, it's easy for you to see his achievements. However, what you don’t see is the price of blood and sweat that he has paid on the court in order to come out on top. If you think that he was born to play basketball and is destined to succeed, I’d like to say that you couldn’t be more wrong. Do you know the story that Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team because of his height? Instead of giving up,he trained harder and made more effort to shoot on court. Finally, he succeeded and became a popular basketball player. To Jordan,it’s not about a single moment of inspiration or brilliance, it’s about years and years of hard work and practice.

At last I would like to share a famous saying with all of you, that is: no pains, no gains. I just want you to know that success doesn’t come easily ,anything that’s really awesome takes a lot of work. I grew up with the idea that college was more an aspiration than an expectation. I saw my parents struggle most of their lives and the daily battle to keep afloat sometimes even drained what hopes and dreams they had for me. They didn't go to college and neither did my only, older sibling.

Growing up, my biggest goal was just to get out of East New York. I took the college entrance exam and committed myself to getting into college. I did. The day I left for college was one of the first trips I made out of New York City.

I'm proud that LaGuardia and Goldman Sachs have teamed up to support small businesses. Through this partnership, I've seen how many LaGuardia students are juggling school, job and family. And, I've seen how these students and all of you push yourselves and persevere.

This is certainly not the easiest of economic times, but there's always an economic cycle. In the course of the next 50 years of your life, you'll see alot of cycles, and like this one, you'll get through it. Don't get caught up in unrealistic optimism or detached pessimism.

Still, a lot can change rapidly and with a lot of force. Your security rests in knowing how to do a variety of things -- and being able to do them better than others.

And that knowledge and ability can be obtained only through a willingness to strike out for something better. That could mean changing careers or pushing for a new idea or strategy in your current one. In either case, push yourself to try something new and to grow with each move.

After college, I went to law school for three years, and then into my dream job at a big NY law firm. But even though it had been my dream, I didn't like it once I got there.

For some it was fun; for me it was always going to be a chore.

First, confidence really matters.

Recognize you have earned the right to be confident. Most of you have made great sacrifices and overcome great obstacles to get where you are today. You built up muscles that others who've had an easier time don't have. Those muscles will serve you for the rest of your life.

My struggle to get to and through college turned out to be an advantage for me. The disadvantages you have had become part of your personal history and track record, all advantages in your later life. So confidence is justified.

Second, find a job that you like.

You'll be more interesting to others, more interesting to yourself and you'll be more successful in your job. Most of the books I've read didn't apply directly to my job or industry, but I've applied their lessons in unexpected ways.

Fourth, be involved in the community.

Find ways to contribute to make yourself proud and set an example to your kids. making a living is not life. It is a means to an end, not the end. You have to feel proud of yourself. There are always going to be people who struggle and for whom community work is not a realistic option, but try.

Pollution has been a serious problem for a certain time around the world.There are many causes for it. Transportation is the main factor of pollution.When the waste gas from cars is released, the air is polluted. People breathingin the polluted air can develop respiratory disease. Another factor is thatpeople throw their garbage everywhere.

All kinds of garbage not only spoil the splendid environment, but alsocause environmental pollution. What's more, industrial pollution also deservesour attention. Wastewater from factories is poured into rivers and this causeswater pollution. As a consequence, the greenhouse effect becomes a problem whichneeds our immediate caution and how to solve is urgent all over the world.

At present, some measures have been taken to prevernt. For example, peopleclassify the garbage and some is recycled after being collected. People are alsoencouraged to use paper products instead of plastic products because we knowthat our living condition will be worse if we keep ignoring this problem. And Ibelieve we can prevent pollution if everyone makes the efforts.

In the center of your heart and my heart there's a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.

However, now the situation is not optimistic. In the tide of commodity economy today,it seems that more and more people believe in money at the sacrifice of honesty. This is a reason why phenomena of dishonesty upward trend. In people basic necessities of life, it is flooded with fake and shoddy milk, drainage oil; in the political field, many officials have no honesty carring some false bureaucratic activities or movements; in the social life field, many people believe that good faith is a kind of stupid behavior. They don’t understand that honesty is the biggest fortune humans own, and that it is the pre requisite for doing everything well. Do we really want to live in a world full of lies? I think the answer is no. Paradoxically, we all want to have a good faith society. At the same time, the good faith is also the requirement of economy society.
