As long ago as I can remember I have always been fascinated by the natural world. That childish fascination has not left me but deepened over the years. This interest has led me to my love of biology, ecology, animal behavior and evolution.
Following my graduation from High School I studied Biological Sciences for two years at the Catholic University of Chile in Santiago. From March to November I was obliged to take a break from my studies at university as my father was moving from the city to a more remote rural area. While helping my father I was able to work closely with birds of prey among others and I was successful in breeding the endangered chinchillas. During my time away from university I continued to deepen my knowledge of my subject and studied evolutionary thinking and the biological basis of behavior. I also worked for a brief time as a translator which made me think that perhaps my English was good enough o complete my studies in an English speaking country.
Since coming to Oxford and studying at OLT I have improved my written English a great deal. I am a member of The Natural History Museum (London) and recently attended a course called “The History of Evolution.” The course was organized by Birkbeck Collegeand took place at the Natural History Museum in London each Wednesday. The course has been fascinating and has served to confirm my suspicion that the more I learn of this subject the more I want to know.
I am hopeful that my previous studies in Santiago, my maturity and my experience in this field will allow me to enter the second year of an undergraduate programme in the UK. After completing my undergraduate it is my wish to continue studying at postgraduate level and ultimately conduct my own research in this area.
My other academic interests include Paleoanthropology, and the history and development of science. I am most interested in the writings of Darwin and Thomas and Henry Huxley.
I am keen on fitness training, horse riding, trekking and diving. I am most interested in all outdoor pursuits. I am also keen to develop my newly found skills in classical singing and dance.
I realize that as a non-native student I will be required to work harder than my contemporaries and I am prepared to do that. I have a cheerful and open-minded disposition and look forward to sharing and exploring new ideas.

These two weeks helped me develop many skills such as concentration and independent working, work experience has also provided me with experience in a trade which can be used to fall back on, due to the fact that this is a family trade I therefore I have a platform in which to start up
Within college I play an active role within college and also within my tutor group. I was elected student Council Representative, which has not only developed my communications skills but furthered my organisation skills. Within my tutor group I interact as much as possible by taking part in the tutor football team, and helping out my tutor with international dimensions week, which consists of helping younger students to develop skills they can use in the future. Performance Art explores the whole range of human emotion and can produce tremendous performances and visual experiences and with Drama, in particular, we can go further than flesh and blood and express ourselves as somebody else and take on this ‘mask’. The most profound thing I have found when studying Drama is that we can become any person in the entire world, and still be us
I have always had a love for the performing arts since I can remember; for there has never really been anything else I have ever wanted to do apart from act. But acting is not just a subject to study people, narratives or social issues – we can discover so many things about ourselves, why we perform a character this way: is it because this person is so much like us? There have been numerous qualities I have discovered about myself while participating in drama. In teaching, I have learn how to really connect with people and help them to explorer what their feelings produce and more notably, how we learn about others, about a single person just by the way they say a monologue
Teaching has been a great experience for me because it has given me the time to evaluate my own performance and teaching skill, learning to become that character just a little but more. These subjects have greatly complemented my time in Drama, and increased my confidence and ability in being a performer. 不管学生就读的学校是公立还是私立，都需要交一笔学生身份的注册费，这笔费用除了是大家入学的证明，还会发放学生出行一定区域内的交通卡，即大家公共出行不需要花钱。

德国留学注意事项
1、留学门槛
德国大学录取程序中对语言的要求相对是比较低的，不像去美国或英国，要先考托福、gre或雅思之类。德国是先凭你一定的德语学时(一般在800至1000学时)证明就可以拿到大学录取通知书，到了德国之后再过大学真正的语言关。德语主要难在入门和语法上，而后者正是中国学生的长项。一般中国学生只要努力，都可以在两年内通过德国大学的语言考试。
2、留学费用
德国留学费用在海外留学中算是中低档的，英美留学，尤其是美国留学，是出了名的烧钱。英国留学费用每年大概是20万～40万，美国则30万～50万。
而德国公立院校不收学费，每学期只收300欧(2400rmb)左右的注册费。生活费也比周边国家便宜很多，生活费在10万左右，整体下来，德国留学十几万即可。虽然前几年北威州的学部分校开始取消学费免费的政策，个别联邦州对攻读第二个学位(Zweitstudium)或者学习时间超长(Langzeitstudium)的学生收取学费，才使留学成本一度上调，但就算每年额外加上3000欧的学费，也远比欧美其他学校来的便宜。
注册费的构成是学生管理处的费用，学生会费用，用于学生工作的费用和学期票的费用。学期票占注册费的大部分，而且与其说是支出，不如说是是帮助你程度的节省开支的一项服务，是德国这个教育大国对学生群体的支持。因为对比成人的城市交通月票或是年票，学期票每半年一张，总共200多欧，只有原价的四分之一左右，所以对依赖公交出行的学生党来说是极友好的。
3、学生福利
在德大学生日常生活中可以享受各种优惠和便利，这些优惠首先体现在“交通”上。一般来说，学生每学期缴纳的注册费里，包括了大学所在城市的所有公共交通费用(如公交车、地铁、区间火车等)。在有些州，甚至包括往返附近城市的火车票。此外，大学生外出旅行还可以购买折扣票(一般限定在26岁以下)。
其次是“住”。德国绝大多数城市的大学都提供学生宿舍，国家给以补贴，租金比较便宜，通常在每月100-200欧元之间，远胜过自己找房子。但学生必须事先登记申请，而且由于德国的外国留学生越来越多，通常学生宿舍都是供不应求。除此之外，学生找房还可以求助于当地的教会组织。
4、食堂
德国的大学都设有食堂，价廉物美，通常每顿饭在2欧元左右，而在快餐店里一餐需5欧元。当然，如能自食其力更好。一般在学生宿舍大楼里均设有公共厨房，每天花上半小时，每月可以节约50-100欧元。此外，有的学生公寓还可以给新生提供一个学期的“食宿包干”，每月交纳200-250欧元，除住宿外，还提供周一至周五的午餐。
5、医疗保险
在德国，学生可以享受非常优惠的医疗保险。不论是在哪家医疗保险公司投保，保险费每月不超过50欧元，远低于正常的保险费，并且保险领域涵盖面广，除了牙齿美容等极少数医疗项目，几乎所有大病小病全在保险项目内，而且可直接划卡，不需自己付钱。甚至连看病乘坐出租车都可以找保险公司报销。尽管去年下半年德国医疗改革，要求病人每季度交纳10欧元初诊费和小部分药品费，但相对于昂贵的医疗费用还是微不足道的。
6、勤工俭学机会

一、衣

二、食

In the spring of , I will be presenting my results at a poster presentation at the University of Rhode Island, and am planning to eventually publish my findings. 留学德国入境注意事项
一、签证
你办的德国的短期签证的有效期应该要和你在德国停留的期限是一致的，也就是你的签证的到期日是你离开德国境内的日期，所以要在签证的有效期内出入境德国。你办的签证的种类应该是和你真实去德国的目的是一样的，比如如果是到德国去读书的学生应该是办理留学签证。
二、允许携带物品
现金：到德国去规定可以带的现金必须要在10000欧元以内，这个范围的数值包括了股票、支票和贵重金属，如果所携带的现金超过了10000欧元的话，要去书面申报。
药品：如果是个人使用的药品是可以携带的，你也可以写药品的申报单为了防止出什么麻烦，申报单要提供三种语言的有德、法、英语。
免税消费品：如果是个人使用的话是可以携带限量的烟酒和咖啡的，对于携带的香烟不能超过200支或者是烟草不能超过250克，携带的烈酒不能超过1升或者是啤酒不能超过16升。

I have a particular interest in drama. During High School I was a member of the Wolsey Youth Theatre in Ipswich. This involved me in various productions; The Railway Children, Watership Down, A Christmas Carol, and Roald Dahls Boy. I also participated in High School productions. I think that these skills are very important, because I have already found that drama can be a useful educational tool, especially in the early stages of learning.
I have completed my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, which I found a great challenge, but very rewarding. I also hold Grade 5 in Trombone, Grade 1 cornet, and Award 6 in trampolining.

1.行前准备

“One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar” I must say that I am genuinely grateful to Helen Keller for articulating what I have long cherished in the innermost recesses of my mind. At the same time I also congratulate myself on having chosen flying as my one-time career, for it has imparted to me both the impulse and the desire to soar in my life.
Ten years ago when I was an undergraduate from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Tsinghua University, or even 5 years ago when I just entered the China Civil Aviation Flight University, I had the stubborn notion that, for the rest of my life, I would stay on the ground working either as a mechanist engaged in mechanical designing and the technical improvement of materials. It never dawned on me that I would transcend all the matter-of-course outcomes resulting from my five-year undergraduate studies to become a pilot of international flights, for at that time the idea had never occurred to me that a person could fly so freely in the infinite universe of his life.
In 1990, I sailed through the highly competitive National University Entrance Examination to become an undergraduate in Tsinghua University. Out of my instinctive interest, I chose to study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. My 5-year solid studies at this most prestigious university in China allowed me to establish a profound theoretical groundwork in mechanical engineering and to develop an in-depth understanding of mechanical dynamics and its operation principle. During my graduation internship, I discovered that, because of the airborne sand, the cylinder piston ring of the desert vehicle which did not receive alloy surface treatment frequently incur friction damage and breaking. This not only created great hindrance to the normal operation of desert vehicles but also seriously jeopardized the life and security of personnel doing field work in the desert. In order to arrive at the perfect ratio of different substances to be contained in the alloy, I undertook innumerable experiments which were coupled with innumerable failures. Sometimes I would stay in the laboratory for days without knowing the lapse of time. During this difficult but equally exciting period, it was Edison's motto Success Means Standing up Once More After Failure that sustained me. With due efforts, we concluded the research satisfactorily, not only scoring significant technological breakthroughs but also yielding impressive practical profitability.

On account of my prominent performance in my studies and flying practice, together with my strong adaptability, especially with my impressive organizational and communicational capacity, I was dispatched by Air China in July to the Flight Safety Academy located in Florida of the United States to undergo a one-year specialized training in order to develop myself into an outstanding pilot on international flights.
During my studies at Flight Safety Academy, I was confronted with even greater challenges. I made utmost efforts to perfect my English aptitude within the shortest possible time. I continued to study advanced courses in flight principles, aerodynamics, federal regulations and a series of subjects directly or indirectly related to flying. At the same time, I was subjected to the most rigorous flight training. I did not shrink from any of those challenges. Instead, I surmounted them one by one, supported by the powerful spirit of perseverance and confidence cultivated in me in my early childhood. At the end of this one-year training, I received the Certificate for Flying Commercial Multi-Engineer Aircrafts issued by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States. Hard as it was, the one-year experience in the United States not only enabled me to acquire the necessary qualifications as a pilot of international flights, but also helped me to develop some initial understanding of the American society. In July , I returned to Air China and formally became its qualified pilot on international flights.
As a pilot, one must be in possession of a strong sense of responsibility and the spirit of teamwork. This requires that a pilot must be meticulous in every detail, able to deal with emergencies, and effective in interpersonal communication. Before each routine flight, I would make detailed flight plans, conduct careful analysis of the conditions of the airfields that we would land on, familiarize myself with the air routes and the weather conditions. I pay special attention to enhance my ability in analyzing and handling emergency situations. On those occasions when the flight is delayed due to irresistible factors, my patient explanations to the passengers tend to make them satisfied and their excited emotions would naturally calm down, facilitating the smooth settlement of the problems. In recognition of my prominent achievements, my company conferred on me the Model Pilot Award. All those gradually cultivated qualities serve as my strong assets for commencing new stages of my career.
Over the past four years, I have traveled to virtually all the major countries of the world and I have accumulated a 3000-hour record of safe flight. After arriving at each destination, I can enjoy a brief vacation of 3 to 4 days in the local city. I would invariably take advantage of such occasions to make extensive visits to the local society, coming into close contacts with local traditions and customs. Those experiences have not only significantly broadened my cultural perspective and enriched my mind, but also developed my ability to accommodate myself to different cultural backgrounds. Exposure to new ideas, a cosmopolitan awareness, and increased receptivity are the greatest benefits that I have been able to derive from those experiences.
My pleasant work experiences make me increasingly interested in my career as a pilot. But at the same time I have also come to develop a strong concern for the existing condition of China's civil aviation industry. Because of its lack of fund and backward technology, plus its belated development, China's civil aviation industry currently lags far behind the developed countries, particularly in the field of aerospace engineering. Once again, motivated by my sense of responsibility to help develop China's civil aviation industry, I am determined to relinquish my present career and apply to study Aerospace Engineering at your distinguished university, to embark on a new stage of life. Technically, I have established a solid foundation for apply for an advanced degree program in aerospace engineering because of my undergraduate training in mechanical engineering. 德国留学生活常识解读
一、货币体系
加入了欧盟之后，德国就逐步开始普及欧元的使用，原本的货币体系慢慢退出了大众生活，因此留学生出国，一定要提前换好欧元的现金，并且多准备一点零钱，会更方便使用。

二、购物选择

而大型的生活超市，则会有更加齐全的商品，适合比较大型的采购活动，例如需要进行生活用品的添置的时候，可以在之前列一个清单，会有更明确的目标，大家采购会更加方便。
三、医疗服务
在德国读书，一定要尽快的确认下自己要购买的保险的类型，作为福利很不错的国家，如果大家没有加入医疗体系，那么自费的话会非常昂贵，留学生至少需要买好基础医疗险。
一般生病建议就近选择诊所，需要提前进行预约才能够顺利的获取相应的服务;如果比较严重的话则需要去医院，能够自己去，因叫救护车价格很贵不能报销;买药要按照医生的医嘱来。
四、物价水平

德国留学教育体系详解
一、考核制度
对学生考核有一个硬性的标准，就是大家必须要完成学分的要求，每一个学年的学分都需要达标，才有资格参加考试，申请毕业的要求之一，就是在读学生获取了合格的学术数量。

1、入学考试优异者奖学金

My industry in high school studies ended up in my success of being admitted into ZheJiang University without being required to take entrance examination, which was itself a special honor. There, the liberal academic atmosphere and heavy coursework effectively augmented my horizon of knowledge and my perspective. In the first year of my undergraduate studies, as the 150th top student out of a total of 3000 students, I was selected to study in the “Mixed Class” which consisted of top students of the University with inter-disciplinary backgrounds. In this class, competitions were unusually fierce. All the basic courses including physics, general chemistry, and mathematical analysis were taught in English and all the textbooks were in English. The curriculum was characterized by great diversity and the level of difficulty of all examinations far surpassed those administered to average students, and even surpassed those in Tsinghua University and Peking University. In my undergraduate studies, I chose to specialize in computer science and engineering. In that part of project that I am in charge of, my work is to implement a more effective method for the texture mapping module. On one hand, some of the principles and methods in this project can be derived from 3-D reconstruction technology. On the other hand, I have found that many aspects in the development of the CAD/CAGD are far from mature. I hope that I can undertake further research in this area. I believe that I will be qualified for this research because I have received systematic trainings in mathematics, physics, logic, and computer programming. In addition, I have accumulated relatively abundant practical experience in actual experiment operations and developed my ability to conduct independent research.
The 3-D Reconstruction is an important subject within the general framework of computer graphics that has the widest application. Currently, its methodology comprises of two major categories: dynamic reconstruction and static reconstruction. In view of the limitations in terms of the size of the object processed and the cost of processing in dynamic reconstruction, I have put forward a new algorithm based on static reconstruction, that is, the algorithm embodied in the reconstruction of a convex singly-connected 3-dimensional object by means of 2-dimensional photos. Compared with conventional algorithm, this algorithm that I have designed saves more space, and is quicker in speed. The effect is especially salient in processing relatively large-sized real objects like a building, rockets, space shuttles, and mountains. It is conceivable that my approach of reconstructing 3-D information by utilizing the 2-D geometric and topological information of real objects will enjoy a very bright prospect of application.
Nevertheless, to translate my design concepts into reality so as to work out many problems in graphics will be impossible without more advanced levels of knowledge. Therefore, I apply for a high-level degree program in the University of --------------------------.
