Drunken Driving
Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that drunken driving has been a grave problem with which we are confronted. Generally speaking, there are several reasons accounting for /behind this phenomenon. Firstly, recent decades have witnessed the rapid development of people’s living standards. As a result, cars gained ever-increasing popularity and have found their way into our everyday life. Secondly, people participate in more activities or banquets than ever before, where they will drink liquor/strong wine. Then, they may get drunk but continue to drive.
Drunken driving is bound to generate severe consequence if we keep turning a blind eye to it. Firs and foremost, this behavior will directly threaten the safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians/goers, resulting in traffic accidents, injuries and even deaths. Besides, treating the injured and repairing broken cars mean a grievous waste of money, time and resources. Last but not least, this irresponsible driving will make the road a nightmare, and thus, it will causes serious losses of faith in governments and the society.
In view of the seriousness of this problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. First, it is essential that the supervisory role of laws and regulations should be strengthened to punish those performing drunken driving. Secondly, the public, especially drivers, should enhance their awareness of public safety. With stringent laws and alert public, it will only a matter of time for drunken driving to become things of past.

Strong earthquake hits China
A powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 has hit China's southern province of Sichuan, shaking buildings as far away as Beijing, Shanghai and Bangkok.
It was not immediately clear if there were any casualties or damage from the tremor which the the US Geological Survey (UGS) earlier put at 7.8.
The epicentre of the quake was 93 kilometres north of Chengdu.
Wenchuan, which took full force of the quake, has a population of 111,000 people.
It is in an ethnic Tibetan area in Aba county which recently saw violent clashes between Tibetans and Chinese authorities.
According to some reports there was a second earthquake measuring 3.9 which hit the Beijing district of Tongzhou at roughly the same time.

来到了营地，看到了他们教练—莫教官。莫教官是个山东人，普通话里带着很浓的地方口音，所以他在喊‘一二一’的时候，就好像在喊‘鸭儿鸭’。
还有一天莫教官把同学们带到一个叫木马山的地方进行排雷比赛，每一个小分队都要选出一个队长，而肥猫却意外地当上了这个队长，他为了过官瘾，瞎指挥，把小分队带到了一条偏僻的小道上，结果迷路了，后来肥猫耍小聪明，骗一位老爷爷说他不敢把他们送回松林营地，后来终于回归了集体。
读了这个故事后我有几点想法：1、我觉得要养成独立的习惯，自己的事情自己做，不要什么事情都依赖父母。2、我们要学习肥猫，遇到事情要沉着、冷静，不能慌。否则什么事情都办不好!

飞雪连天射白鹿，笑书神侠倚碧鸳”这是金庸大师的十四部武侠小说。今年寒假，我有幸读到了一代武侠小说大师金庸先生的《射雕英雄传》。
在书中，我最佩服的人就是郭靖。郭靖虽然笨，但他却努力用功，练就了一身盖世的武功。郭靖不光努力，还具有认真这个优秀品质。光这两点，即使他再笨，也可以学会一身盖世武功了。虽然有点夸张，但认真是人必须具备的品质。郭靖也就是因为在练功时专心致志，不三心二意才有所成就的。他身上的那种刻苦学习、永不言弃的精神非常值得我们学习。在这点上，我和郭靖比起来，真是自行惭愧啊!
另外郭靖十分守信用。郭靖想拜江南七怪为师学习武艺，江南七怪就对郭靖说如果他真想学武艺的话，半夜时就一个人到后山的小树林里去找他们。半夜，八岁的郭靖克服了心里的恐惧，到小树林里去找他们，七怪见他这么守信用，学武的心又这么真诚，就收他为徒传授武艺。郭靖的守信用和对待学习的态度也很值得我们去学习。
书中另一个人物令我感到十分厌恶——“金玉其外败絮其中”的杨康。他虽然有着英俊的外表，但是内心却如同蛇蝎一般狠毒。他一生做尽了坏事，他认贼作父、因为贪恋荣华富贵一而再，再而三的辜负穆念慈对他的一片真情，谋害结义兄弟郭靖……用恶贯满盈来形容他一点也不为过。杨康的所作所为也让我明白了：多行不义必自毙。
这两个个性相反的人物给予我一名小学生以很大的人生启示，也许这就是大师的魅力所在吧!
小说中还有很多个性鲜明的人物，如聪明伶俐的黄蓉、武功盖世却贪吃的洪七公、武功高强却顽皮的周伯通、阴险狡诈的欧阳锋、脾气古怪的黄药师……也同样给我留下了深刻的印象。
《射雕英雄传》给我的暑假生活带来了很多乐趣!

那女子慢慢弯下腰，双手轻轻将小猫放下，放在她那双精致的高跟凉鞋下。鞋跟大概有十几公分高，很细，直径像是才有一分钱硬币那样。抬起身前，它还不忘“爱抚”几下那只小猫，脸上依旧挂着笑容。
然后缓缓抬起脚，轻轻将鞋跟扎进小猫的眼睛，鲜血一下子涌了出来，红的触目惊心。小猫奋力挣扎，爪子胡乱抓着，口中像是在发出一声声令人心悸的叫声。那女子又向下压了压，脸上还是那副得意的表情，像是在欣赏着什么，眼神中流露出鄙夷和不屑。
坐在电脑前的我，早已经义愤填膺了，鼠标被捏的吱吱作响，汗水早已沾满了。
简直就是变态，太可耻太可恨了，怎么会有这样的人，怎么会有呢？看着那么可爱的小生灵，她竟然下得去脚，无法可想，她究竟是抱着一种什么心态，能使得她如此残酷地去对待一只自己没有保护能力的小猫。
尤其那笑容，让我有种很想上去把它撕碎的冲动，她居然笑着去做这样一个让人唾弃的刽子手，仿佛这件事情能使她的'心灵感到愉悦。魔鬼，她是一个魔鬼，一个很彻底的魔鬼！
闭上眼睛，脑海中浮现着那只惨遭蹂躏的小猫，地面上的一道道划痕，她那只血肉模糊的眼睛，耳中充斥着那一声声揪心的惨叫。我仿佛看见它颤巍巍的身体瑟缩在墙角，那么孤立无援，那么孤单无助。
心中久久不能平静，为那只命运悲惨的小猫，也为那个人面兽心的女人。我想，这样的心情会持续下去，可能会很长很长一段时间……
