Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions - who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.

The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach f; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart - not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

大家好，大家今天都好吗?我现在是和弗吉尼亚州韦柯菲尔德高中的学生在一起。全国各地的学生，从幼儿园到20xx年级，也都在收听。我很高兴你们大家今天都参与了进来。
我知道对你们中的很多人来说，今天是开学第一天。而对于那些在幼儿园或是刚刚开始初中或高中生涯的你来说，今天还是你们在新学校的第一天，所以你们难免会有一点紧张，这是很可以理解的。我还想象着今天会有一些高年级学生这会儿可能感觉挺不错的，因为还有一年就可以毕业了。不管现在你们上几年级了，有些人可能希望现在还是夏天，今天早上可能还会有点不想起床。
我完全理解这种感觉。在我小的时候，我们家在印度尼西亚生活过几年。那时候我妈妈没有足够的钱送我去全是美国孩子念书的学校。所以她决定自己给我额外补一些课，开始于周一到周五的每天早上4:30。
起这么早我可是不怎么有愉快的心情。很多次，我就趴在厨房的桌子上睡着了。但是每一次我要抱怨的时候，我妈妈就会那样看着我说：“这对我来说也不是什么享受，小家伙。”
所以我知道你们中有一些人还在调整自己重返学校。但是我今天在这里的原因是有一些重要的事情想和你们商讨。我在这里是因为想和你们谈谈你们的学习，在新学年里对大家的期望。
关于教育我做了很多次演讲了。而且有关责任我也谈了很多。我已经谈过了你们的教师启发你们，推动你们学习的责任。我讲过了你们的父母让你们坚持学习，做家庭作业，不要整天看电视，玩Xbox的责任。我讲了很多政府制定高标准，支持教师和校长，改善那些运转不良以至于学生得不到应有机会的那些学校的责任。

This is my first time traveling to China, and I'm excited to see this majestic country. Here, in Shanghai, we see the growth that has caught the attention of the world -- the soaring skyscrapers, the bustling streets and entrepreneurial activity. And just as I'm impressed by these signs of China's journey to the 21st century, I'm eager to see those ancient places that speak to us from China's distant past. Tomorrow and the next day I hope to have a chance when I'm in Beijing to see the majesty of the Forbidden City and the wonder of the Great Wall. Truly, this is a nation that encompasses both a rich history and a belief in the promise of the future.

The same can be said of the relationship between our two countries. Shanghai, of course, is a city that has great meaning in the history of the relationship between the United States and China. It was here, 37 years ago, that the Shanghai Communique opened the door to a new chapter of engagement between our governments and among our people.

However, America's ties to this city -- and to this country -- stretch back further, to the earliest days of America's independence. Washington wanted to see the ship carry the flag around the globe, and to forge new ties with nations like China. This is a common American impulse -- the desire to reach for new horizons, and to forge new partnerships that are mutually beneficial.

A different kind of connection was made nearly 40 years ago when the frost between our countries began to thaw through the simple game of table tennis. The very unlikely nature of this engagement contributed to its success -- because for all our differences, both our common humanity and our shared curiosity were revealed. As one American player described his visit to China -- “[The] people are just like us…The country is very similar to America, but still very different.” Of course this small opening was followed by the achievement of the Shanghai Communique, and the eventual establishment of formal relations between the United States and China in 1979. And in three decades, just look at how far we have come.

In 1979, trade between the United States and China stood at roughly $5 billion -- today it tops over $400 billion each year. The commerce affects our people's lives in so many ways. America imports from China many of the computer parts we use, the clothes we wear; and we export to China machinery that helps power your industry. This trade could create even more jobs on both sides of the Pacific, while allowing our people to enjoy a better quality of life. And as demand becomes more balanced, it can lead to even broader prosperity.

There are nearly 200 “friendship cities” drawing our communities together. American and Chinese scientists cooperate on new research and discovery. And of course, Yao Ming is just one signal of our shared love of basketball -- I'm only sorry that I won't be able to see a Shanghai Sharks game while I'm visiting.

It is no coincidence that the relationship between our countries has accompanied a period of positive change. China has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty -- an accomplishment unparalleled in human history -- while playing a larger role in global events. And the United States has seen our economy grow along with the standard of living enjoyed by our people, while bringing the Cold War to a successful conclusion.

Indeed, because of our cooperation, both the United States and China are more prosperous and more secure. We have seen what is possible when we build upon our mutual interests, and engage on the basis of mutual respect.

It took time for women to be extended the right to vote, workers to win the right to organize, and for immigrants from different corners of the globe to be fully embraced. Even after they were freed, African Americans persevered through conditions that were separate and not equal, before winning full and equal rights.

None of this was easy. But we made progress because of our belief in those core principles, which have served as our compass through the darkest of storms. That is why Lincoln could stand up in the midst of civil war and declare it a struggle to see whether any nation, conceived in liberty, and “dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal” could long endure. That is why Dr. Martin Luther King could stand on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and ask that our nation live out the true meaning of its creed. That's why immigrants from China to Kenya could find a home on our shores; why opportunity is available to all who would work for it; and why someone like me, who less than 50 years ago would have had trouble voting in some parts of America, is now able to serve as its President.

And that is why America will always speak out for these core principles around the world. They should be available to all people, including ethnic and religious minorities -- whether they are in the United States, China, or any nation. Indeed, it is that respect for universal rights that guides America's openness to other countries; our respect for different cultures; our commitment to international law; and our faith in the future.

These are all things that you should know about America. I also know that we have much to learn about China. For while China is an ancient nation, you are also clearly looking ahead with confidence, ambition, and a commitment to see that tomorrow's generation can do better than today's.

I've said many times that I believe that our world is now fundamentally interconnected. The jobs we do, the prosperity we build, the environment we protect, the security that we seek -- all of these things are shared. And given that interconnection, power in the 21st century is no longer a zero-sum game; one country's success need not come at the expense of another. And that is why the United States insists we do not seek to contain China's rise. On the contrary, we welcome China as a strong and prosperous and successful member of the community of nations -- a China that draws on the rights, strengths, and creativity of individual Chinese like you.

It must be rooted in our people -- in the studies we share, the business that we do, the knowledge that we gain, and even in the sports that we play. And these bridges must be built by young men and women just like you and your counterparts in America.

Hi, everybody. Sunday is Father’s Day. If you haven’t got Dad a gift yet, there’s still time. Just barely. But the truth is, what we give our fathers can never match what our fathers give us.

I know how important it is to have a dad in your life, because I grew up without my father around. I felt the weight of his absence. And every chance I get, I encourage fathers to get more involved in their children’s lives, because what makes you a man isn’t the ability to have a child – it’s the courage to raise one.

Now, when I launched this initiative, I said that government can’t play the primary role in a young person’s life. Taking responsibility for being a great parent or mentor is a choice that we, as individuals, have to make. No government program can ever take the place of a parent’s love. Still, as a country, there are ways we can help support dads and moms who make that choice.

Moms and dads deserve affordable child care, and time off to care for a sick parent or child without running into hardship. Women deserve equal pay for equal work – and at a time when more women are breadwinners for a family, that benefits men, too. And because no parent who works full-time should have to raise a family in poverty, it’s time for Congress to follow the lead of state after state, get on the bandwagon, and give America a raise.

Buses full of volunteers coming from hundreds of miles away. Neighbors sharing whatever they have – food, water, electricity – and saying again and again how lucky they are to have a roof over their heads.

After all, elections are often where we emphasize what sets us apart. We face off in a contest of “us” versus “them.” We focus on the candidate we support instead of some of the ideals we share.
But a few short weeks later, Thanksgiving reminds us that no matter our differences, we are still one people, part of something bigger than ourselves. We are communities that move forward together. We are neighbors who look out for one another, especially those among us with the least. We are always, simply, Americans.
That's why, through the fog of Civil War, President Lincoln saw what mattered most - the unalienable truths for which so many gave their lives, and which made possible “a new birth of freedom.” And so precisely when the fate of the Union hung in the balance, he boldly proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving, when the nation's gifts “should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice by the whole American people.”
Today, we continue to give thanks for those blessings, and to all who ensured that they would be our inheritance. We remember the determined patriots who landed at the edge of the world in search of freedom. We give thanks to the brave men and women who defend that freedom in every corner of the world. And we honor all people - from the First Americans to our newest arrivals - who continue to shape our nation's story, enrich our heritage, and give meaning to our founding values, values we must never take for granted. That in America, we are bound not by any one race or religion, but rather an adherence to a common belief - that all of us are created equal. That we may think, worship, and speak, and love as we please. That the gift of democracy is ours, and ours alone, to nurture and protect.
Never doubt, that is what makes us American - not where we come from, what we look like, or what faith we practice, but the ideals to which we pledge our allegiance. It's about our capacity to live up to the creed as old as our founding: “E Pluribus Unum” - that out of many, we are one. And as long as we continue to welcome the contributions of all people, as long as we stand up for each other, speak out for what is right, and stay true to these ideals - not just when it's easy, but when it's hard - then no one can ever take away our liberty. Our best days will always be ahead. And we will keep building a future where all of our children know the promise of America.

在很多方面，罗格斯大学的历史反映了美国的进化史：我们变得越来越大，越来越强，富有而充满活力，也越来越开放包容。
但美国的进步从来不是一帆风顺或者平平稳稳，进步不是沿着直线前进的。它所走的道路曲曲折折，脚步时快时慢。美国的进步从来都是艰难而充满矛盾的。事实上我们每向前走两步，就会回退一步。
进步总是跌跌撞撞，从来如此。马丁·路德·金曾经说过：“在道德的宇宙里有一条很长的弧线，但是无论多长，最终会靠向公平。”然而我认为，在我们生活的这个国家和这个世界里，这条弧线是不会自己选择公平的。
这个世界是否公平取决于我们自己，取决于我们做出的选择，特别是在历史的某个转折点上，特别是在重大的变化正在发生的时候，在一切的界定都是模糊不清的时候。
而你们，20xx届的毕业生们，你们就处在这样一个转折点上。从这个新千年的开始，我们就看到了令人颤栗的恐怖袭击、局部战争、经济萧条。(精彩英语演讲，最值得关注的英语演讲类公众号)我们看到，经济、技术和文化的变革深刻地改变了我们工作、沟通、生活和建立家庭的方式。这些变化的速度不是在放慢而是在加快。它们不仅带来伟大的机会，也孕育着巨大的危险。
然而，幸运的是，我相信你们完全有能力做出正确的选择。我对此深信不疑，因为你们这一代比我们这一代人更聪明，获得了更好的教育——虽然你们字写得没有我们这一代人好看，而且我们的语法拼写也比你们的强(笑)。
你们不但接受到了更好的教育，而且你们与世界的连接更加密切，你们的价值观更加多样化，对环境问题也更为敏感，你们对于“传统的智慧”抱有一种健康的怀疑态度。
正因为我对你们抱有极大的信心，所以我不会把接下来的时间都花在告诉你们，应该怎样做，才能让这个世界变得更美好?这一点你们自己会想到办法的。
你们懂得用更加新鲜的眼光来看待事物，不受偏见、盲点和惰性的约束，也不会像你们的父母、祖父母以及像我这样的旧式头脑那样，有各种各样偏执的念头。(精彩英语演讲，最值得关注的英语演讲类公众号)但是我确实有几点建议要给你们，在你们走出校园去征服这个世界的时候，你们可能会觉得这几点建议能用得上。
第一点，当你听到有人对“过去的好时光”充满怀念的时候，要带一点怀疑。
我们生活在一个伟大的国家里，我们对自己的历史感到骄傲。我们直接受益于祖辈们的勤劳、坚韧与勇气。但我知道，在变化交替、充满未知的关键时刻，很多人都会喜欢回顾过去：那是一个想象中的过去，一切都是那么美好。经济欣欣向荣，政客们充满智慧，所有的小孩子都很有礼貌，而美国作为一个国家似乎无所不能。
然而事实是，美国的现在比过去更好。自从我大学毕业之后，我是1983年大学毕业的，好像时间也没有那么久啊(笑)。(精彩英语演讲，最值得关注的英语演讲类公众号)从那时起，犯罪率、青少年怀孕比率、贫困率都下降了，拥有大学学历的人数大幅增长，我们的平均寿命延长了，非裔和拉丁美洲裔的人群在商界和政界的地位提高了，更多的女性走上了工作岗位(鼓掌)。
我说这些不是为了让你们骄傲自满，而是要告诉你们，在我们的历史中，变化一直都从未停止过。美利坚现在是一个更好的国家，因为它从不留恋过去，也从不畏惧未来。我们将未来握在手中，并把它变成属于我们的。这恰恰就是为什么像你们这样的年轻人会带来巨大的变化——因为你们对未来无所畏惧。
第二点，这个世界比以往任何时候都更加密切地联系在一起，而且这些联系正在变得越来越密切，建造围墙不会改变这一点。
如果过去的20xx年教会了我们什么，那就是我们面对的最大挑战不是能够孤立解决的。当其他的国家开始分崩离析的时候，它们就成了恐怖分子和意识形态主义者滋生的温床，这些**和不幸最终会降临在美国。(精彩英语演讲，最值得关注的英语演讲类公众号)当发展中国家没有很好的医疗条件时，那些传染病如寨卡、埃博拉也会传染和威胁我们的同胞。建造一堵高墙并不能够阻挡它们。
围墙毫无用处。它不能给我们带来经济繁荣，也不能够让我们更加安全。孤立和诋毁穆斯林教徒，让他们更难进入这个国家，这不仅是对我们自身价值观的背叛，对我们自己的背叛，也会使得我们反抗暴力极端主义的努力变得孤立无援。
在我们的国境线上造一堵高墙，把我们的问题都推给外来移民，这不仅仅悖离了我们作为全世界“熔炉”的历史，而且否认了我们的成长、创新和活力都来自于能够吸引全世界各地优秀的人努力建设美国的事实。唯有如此，我们才能成为美国。
第三点，事实、证据、理性、逻辑，对科学的认知——这些是很好的东西。这些是一个决策者身上应有的品质。
我知道，这显而易见。但是如果你留意我们最近的政治辩论，你会奇怪这种“反知识”的论调是从哪里来的。所以，20xx届的毕业生们，让我非常明确地告诉你们，无论在政治还是在生活中，无知都不是美德。
今天，在你们每个人的口袋里都有一个手机(笑)，我们比人类历史上任何时候都更容易获取信息，只需要点一下就可以。然而，更多的信息洪流并没有让我们更容易分辨真相。在很多方面，它让我们对自己的无知更加充满自信(鼓掌)。我们总是认为网上的东西都是真的，(精彩英语演讲，最值得关注的英语演讲类公众号)我们会去搜索那些支持我们观点的网站，意见被伪装成了事实，最不可思议的阴谋论也被当做了圣经福音。
我相信你们在大学都学习过这些，如果没有，你们也很快会学到这一点——这个世界上有很多会啃书本却缺乏常识的人，你们很快就会遇上这样的人(笑)。善良、同理心、诚实和勤奋，这些比懂得技术或窍门都更为重要(鼓掌)。
第四点，要对民主抱有信念。
我知道民主看上去并不总是很美。是的，我知道(笑)。我就生活在其中。然而，就是通过民主，一点一滴的积累，一辈又一辈的努力，我们的国家取得了今天这样的成就。正是因为有了民主，我们废止了童工雇佣制，恢复了清洁的空气和水源，获得了社会保障、医疗救助保险，让更多的年长者可以在晚年免受贫穷困顿之苦。
所有这些变化不是一夜之间发生的，不是一个充满个人魅力的领袖召集所有人开会，就可以达成一致的。(精彩英语演讲，最值得关注的英语演讲类公众号)这些变化是在数年甚至数十年持续的呼吁、组织、结盟、谈判，以及民意的转变之后实现的。这些变化得以实现，是因为我们都关心并参与了这一过程。
第五点，要着眼于长远。
不管你选择走哪条路——商业、公益、政府、教育、医疗、艺术——不管你选择做什么，你都会遭遇挫折。(精彩英语演讲，最值得关注的英语演讲类公众号)你会有时候不得不和愚蠢的人打交道，你会有挫败感，你会有一个不太好的老板，你会无法得到自己想要的东西。
然而，你必须坚持，你必须有足够的意志力。而成功，不管有多么微小，多么的不完整，都是成功。我总是告诉我的女儿们：进步就是“好”的。进步可能不是完美的，它可能不是伟大的，但它是“好”的。我们的社会和生活会变得更美好，皆因如此。

各位领导、同志们：
区残疾人体育工作在市残联的指导下，在区体育局、区民政局、区教育局的大力支持下，认真贯彻执行《中华人民共和国残疾人保障法》、《中华人民共和国体育法》，按照《全民健身计划纲要》、中国残疾人事业“十五”计划纲要对残疾人体育工作的要求，积极动员广大残疾人参与体育活动，创造各种条件满足残疾人参加体育锻炼的需求，促进了残疾人体育事业的发展。
一、工作回顾
（一）积极参加大型体育比赛和活动，在全社会营造关爱残疾人的良好社会氛围。
残疾人是社会中最为困难的特殊群体，残疾人体育是残疾人事业的一个重要组成部份，开展残疾人体育运动，是残疾人平等参与社会的一个有效渠道，也是社会文明进步的一个重要标志。近几年来，我们组织动员各类残疾人开展形式多样的群众性体育活动，积极参与市、区大型残疾人体育比赛和活动，在全社会营造了关爱残疾人的良好社会氛围。
1999年，我们一是组织30名残疾人运动员参加了市第五届特奥会，取得了10金7银8铜的优异成绩；二是组织16名残疾人运动员参加了市第五届残运会，取得了男子T46级别400米第一名，200米第二名，男子T37级别800米、1500米第三名的佳绩。
2000年，我们选送了两位运动员参加上海市残疾人体育代表团，代表上海市参加了全国第五届残运会。并组织5名辅读学校的弱智运动员参加了“中国特奥世纪行”上海段乒乓球赛，获得了青年组金牌、银牌、铜牌各一块的好成绩。
2001年，我区运动员在南京市召开的残运会锦标赛上获得了F36级别标枪世界最好成绩。
2002年，我们组织了有119名残疾人运动员参加的体育代表团，参加区第二届运动会，分别进行了田径、乒乓、象棋等三个大类的12个单项比赛，其中39人获得了各比赛项目的名次。
2003年，我们组织50名残疾人运动员参加了市第六届残运会，运动员在比赛场上挥汗如雨、顽强拼搏，有19名运动员获得了田径、跳绳、乒乓等项目的9块金牌、2块银牌、1块铜牌、3个第四名、1个第六名和表演展示项目团体三等奖的佳绩，并获得了体育道德风尚奖。
2004年，我们组织开展了群众性体育活动，组织22名听力残疾人、盲人、肢残人参加了市残疾人群众体育竞赛，比赛项目有定点投篮、俯卧撑、飞镖、扑克、仰卧起坐等，获得盲人仰卧起坐团体第6名、肢残组飞镖个人第三名、聋人组飞镖个人第四名。组织14名智残运动员参加市特奥运动专项比赛，项目有弱智人乒乓、举重、俯卧撑、仰卧起坐、滚球等，获得了乒乓男子单打两个第一名、两个第二名，男子双打第一名的好成绩；夺得了举重第一、二名各1个、仰卧起坐第二名的好成绩。还组织14名肢残人参加市肢残人健身操比赛，获飞翔健身操二等奖、超越健身操三等奖。
以上是我区近几年来举办和参加的大型体育比赛与活动，主要是向全社会展现了残疾人事业的成果和残疾人自强不息的风貌，也在全社会营造了扶残助残的良好社会氛围，鼓励引导更多的残疾人参与体育运动，推进了我区精神文明建设。
（二）残疾人竞技体育取得了令人瞩目的成绩
近几年来，经过区残联、区体育局、区民政局、区教育局等单位的共同努力，残疾人竞技体育水平不断提高，运动员队伍不断壮大，多次组织残疾人运动员参加各项比赛盛事，也取得了骄人的成绩，为我区残疾人事业争了光、添了彩。
1999年，区残联被评为上海市特奥工作先进集体,有2人荣获上海市特奥工作先进个人。
2000年在第五届全国残运会上，运动员克服运动训练强度大、密度紧的困难，不负众望，获得了F36级跳远、T36级1500米两项全国冠军，并获得了道德风尚奖的荣誉称号。
2002年，我区运动员分别到法国、德国、韩国参加世界残疾人体育比赛，其中1人在法国举行的世界残疾人田径锦标赛上获标枪CP5组第三名，在韩国釜山举行的第8届远南残疾人运动会上获F35级男子标枪金牌和T35级男子跳远银牌。
2003年，我区有4名运动员参加了在南京举行的全国第六届残运会，他们不负家乡人民的期望，获得了优秀的战绩。如李卫春获得三金一铜，并被团市委授予2001年－－2002年“上海市新长征突击手”（上海市优秀团员）的荣誉称号、王一峰获得二银、张瑛获团体第2名、何峰获第四名。
2004年，我区运动员李卫春入选中国残奥代表团，于9月17日至28日参加了在希腊雅典举行的第十二届夏季残疾人奥运会田径项目的比赛，获得T35级100米铜牌。

）积极开展残疾人群众体育活动
多年来，我区积极开展各类残疾人喜闻乐见的体育活动，将残疾人群众健身活动扩大到社区、推广进家庭，致力于增强残疾人体育康复健身意识，宣传体育锻炼促进康复的理念，提高残疾人群体身体素质。先后参加了第五、六届上海市残疾人运动会，2002年组团参加了区第二届运动会，共有18个镇、街道（园区）残联组队参加，运动员达119人，分别进行了田径、乒乓、象棋等三个大类12个单项的比赛，比赛体现了群众性、参与性、广泛性的特点，使更多残疾人走出家庭、走向社会、参与到残疾人体育活动中。
我区各基层残联也开展了丰富多彩的文化体育活动，如基层单位组织残疾人参加了镇运动会开幕式和比赛。有的`单位先后举办了二届残疾人运动会，来自全镇的29支代表队137名残疾人参加了自行车慢骑、乒乓、象棋、田径等8个项目的比赛。
二、工作体会
以上成绩，是在区委、区府领导的正确领导下，在区体育局、区民政局、区教育局、区残联和有关单位的大力支持下取得的。这离不开各级领导对残疾人体育工作的重视和关怀，离不开区体育局及有关单位的支持，也离不开各镇、街道（园区）残联的密切配合，我们体会是：
（一）残疾人体育运动离不开各级领导的重视。
开展残疾人体育运动，不仅是全民健身的需要，而且是一个社会文明进步的重要标志。长期以来，区委、区府领导对残疾人体育工作十分重视，每次组团参加上海市残疾人运动会，区委、区府领导都亲自给运动员作动员，鼓励大家顽强拼搏，赛出水平、赛出风格、赛出成绩。比赛结束后，又召开总结表彰会，区领导亲自为运动员发奖，勉励他们继续努力。
（二）残疾人体育运动的开展得到了有关单位的支持和配合。
残疾人体育事业是一项社会化系统工程，涉及社会方方面面，我们在各项运动会筹备和比赛中还得到了社会各方的大力支持和配合，在2001年，成立了由文广局、体育局、教育局、区残联为成员的区残疾人文体工作领导小组，形成了各单位支持残疾人体育事业的社会氛围。各单位、各基层残联广泛动员、积极选送残疾人运动员参加比赛，特别是区体育局把残疾人体育工作纳入到整体工作之中，在比赛场地、教练、裁判等方面给予支持，保证了此项工作的顺利开展。
（三）残疾人体育活动需要残疾人的积极参与。
通过开展残疾人体育活动，可以向全社会展示残疾人自强不息、顽强拼搏的精神风貌，提高了全社会对残疾人事业的重视。从近几年来开展的残疾人体育活动来看，参赛的运动员来自全区各行各业，参赛的人数也逐年增加，充分体现了群众性和参与性。广大残疾人运动员在比赛中也发扬了顽强拼搏、自强不息的精神，他们有的虽然是第一次参加比赛，比赛中也没有得到名次，但是他们克服了自身残疾，在比赛中都没有半途而废。
同志们，我区残疾人体育工作取得的成绩，主要是在各级政府和领导的重视与支持，社会各界的关心与帮助，各级体育部门的配合与指导下取得的，同时也是依靠本区广大残疾人运动员、教练员、体育工作者长期埋头苦干、默默奉献，以及广大残疾人朋友积极的参与，才能取得如此的成绩。在此，我谨代表区残奥会、聋奥会、特奥会和全体残疾人体育工作者，向所有关心、热爱和支持残疾人体育事业的各位领导、同志们、朋友们，表示衷心的感谢，并致以崇高的敬意。
三、今后的工作目标
我们与其他区县残疾人体育事业相比还存在较大差距，各街道、镇（园区）之间开展的残疾人体育活动、项目不平衡。因此，我们要在三个协会新一届班子领导下，不断研究新情况，解决新问题，奋发进取，开拓创新，争取新的发展和进步。明年的残疾人体育工作总的思路是：
――广泛开展残疾人群众体育活动，提高残疾人身体素质。要加强对基层残疾人体育的指导与扶持，积极动员基层残联从社区抓起，组织各类残疾人因地制宜地开展残疾人群众性体育活动，增加切合各类残疾人实际情况的体育康复和健身的活动项目，将残疾人群众体育活动推进到社区与家庭。
――加强残疾人体育人才的选拔和培训，结合实际，指导基层开展残疾人体育活动的同时，做好优秀残疾人的选拔、训练工作，积极选送优秀残疾人运动员参加市残疾人运动队的集训。
――做好迎接2008年世界特奥会的工作，重点做好三项工作，一是发展智障运动员，到2005年特奥运动员争取达到2480人；二是做好动员8周岁以上，智商70以下的智残人走出学校，走向社区、融入社会，争取做到每年活动8周；三是2005年举办好一届区特奥运动会，为2008年国际特奥会作准备。
同志们，实现上述任务与目标，既是时代的要求，也是本区广大残疾人、残疾人体育运动参与者的共同心愿。让我们高举毛泽东思想、邓小平理论的伟大旗帜，贯彻实践“三个代表”重要思想，团结拼搏，与时俱进，为实现全面建设小康社会，开创我区残疾人体育工作新局面而共同奋斗。
