文中令我印象最深刻的，就是冉阿让背着在战斗身负重伤的青年人马里尤斯在下水道中行走。在途中他遇到了认为他杀人越货的拐子德纳第与奉命捉拿他的警探沙威二人。但他始终保持镇定，并在心中一直秉承把救人放在首位的原则，最后成功送马里尤斯到其爷爷家。而沙威被其高尚的行为感动，羞愧难当而跳河自杀。
