Today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.“

”Yeah, right. It isn't that easy.“ I protested.

”Yes it is, “ Michael said. ”Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line is: It's your choice how you live life. “ I reflected on what Michael said.

Soon thereafter, I left the big enterprise that I had worked in for years to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often though about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling off 60 feet from a communications tower.

After l8 hours of surgery, and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, ”If I were any better, I’d be twins. Wanna see my scars?“ I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

”The first thing that went through my mind was the well being of my soon-to-born daughter,“ Michael replied. ”Then, as I lay on the ground, remembered I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live.“ ”Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?“ I asked. Michael continued, ”... the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the operation room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, l read 'He's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action.“ ”What did you do?“ I asked. ”Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me” said Michael. “She asked me if I was allergic to anything. ‘Yes,’ I said. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled”, ‘Gravity’” Over their laughter, I told them, 'I'm choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead'.“

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I Learned from him that every day we have a choice to live fully. Attitude is everything.

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, “If I were any better, I’d be twins!” He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, ”I don' t get it. You can' t be positive all the time. How do you do it?“

Michael replied, each morning I wake up and say to myself 'Mike, you have two choices today. I choose the positive side of life.”

“Yeah, right. It isn't that easy.” I protested.

“Yes it is, ” Michael said. “Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line is: It's your choice how you live life. ” I reflected on what Michael said.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, “If I were any better, I’d be twins. Wanna see my scars?” I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

“The first thing that went through my mind was the well being of my soon-to-born daughter,” Michael replied. “Then, as I lay on the ground, remembered I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live.” “Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?” I asked. Michael continued, “... the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the operation room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, l read 'He's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action.” “What did you do?” I asked. “Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me” said Michael. ”She asked me if I was allergic to anything. ‘Yes,’ I said. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled“, ‘Gravity’” Over their laughter, I told them, 'I'm choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead'.”

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I 1eamed from him that every day we have a choice to live fully. Attitude is everything.

In our daily lives, we have many choices to make, such as what to eat for supper, what clothes to wear, or what to do on weekends. At certain times in our lives, we need to make even more critical choices, such as which school to attend, what job to take or who to choose as husband or wife. Yes, life is a matter of choice. Seemimgly, it means a choice of tangible things. But in essence, it means choosing a way of life. Life is to be lived, savored, and enjoyed, not to be wasted or complained about.

Hardly can we forget the time when our society faced the grave threat from the life-and-death disease--SARS. Yet, even during those dreadful times, some afflicted people remained optimistic. Instead of wearing neutral white masks, some people turned to colouful ones, and thus display a happy mood. And some creative people dubbed SARS to mean “SMILE AND REMAIN SMILING.” I was deeply touched by their optimisim, nearly forgetting that we're still in a battle. people who survive these kinds of circumstances, (at some point)decide in their minds to carry on in spite of the overwhelming odds.

laid-off workers, typically regarded as the victims of economic advancement, are subject to desperation that being unmeployed has brought on them. But, encouragingly, we have witnessed some of them striving hard to rebuild confidence toward life and discover new opportunities for demonstrating their values.

Although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities, we do have the privilege to choose to live optimistcally,to love our lives, to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.

Every morning when we get up, we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day. As for me, I choose to be cheerful.

因之努力,所以爱迪生的发明一千多;

因之坚韧,所以越王勾践卧薪尝胆灭吴国;

Many senior school students are faced with the headache choice between big universities and small ones。 Apart from different requirements, each has advantages and disadvantages。 If you ask me what my preference is, my answer is that I would like to go to a big university。 A big university attracts me for sound reasons。 More qualified teaching staff, higher aims and better conditions are helpful to students studying there。 What is more, various lectures organized by more colleges and departments make students in different majors form all round opinions on things。 And diverse activities enrich students' life after school。 Additionally, a big garden campus provides a satisfying environment for studying and living for four or more years。

Though more students might mean more competitions, though I might be a small fish in a big pond, I will be motivated to work harder。 In a big university, I believe, my visions will be broadened, and my college life will be a more fruitful and colourful one。 In word, I am inclined to study in a big university。

‘avoid the rush-hour’ must be the slogan of large cities the world over。 if it is, it’s a slogan no noe takes the least notice of。 twice a day, with predictable regularity, the pot boils over。 wherever you look it’s people, people, people。 the trains which leave or arrive every few minutes are packed: an endless procession of human sardine tins。 the streets are so crowded, there is hardly room to move on the pavements。 the queues for buses reach staggering proportions。 it takes ages for a bus to get to you because the traffic on the roads has virtually come to standstill。 even when a bus does at last arrive, it’s so full, it can’t take any more passengers。 this whole crazy system of commuting stretches man’s resources to the utmost。 the smallest unforeseen event can bring about conditions of utter chaos。 a power-cut, for instance, and exceptionally heavy snowfall or a minor derailment must always make city-dwellers realize how precarious the balance is。 the extraordinary thing is not that people put up with these conditions, but that they actually choose them in preference to anything else。

large modern cities are too big to control。 they impose their own living conditions on the people who inhabit them。 city dwellers are obliged by their environment to adopt a wholly unnatural way of life。 they lost touch with the land and rhythm of nature。 it is possible to live such an air-conditioned existence in a large city that you are barely conscious of the seasons。 a few flowers in a public park(if you have the time to visit it) may remind you that it is spring or summer。 a few leaves clinging to the pavement may remind you that it is autumn。 beyond that, what is going on in nature seems totally irrelevant。 all the simple, good things of life like sunshine and fresh air are at a premium。 tall buildings blot out the sun。 traffic fumes pollute lost。 the flow of traffic goes on unceasingly and the noise never stops。the funny thing about it all is that you pay dearly for the ‘privilege’ of living in a city。 the demand for accommodation is so great that it is often impossible for ordinary people to buy a house of their own。 exorbitant rents must be paid for tiny flats which even country hens would disdain to live in。 accommodation apart, the cost of living is very high。 just about everything you buy is likely to be more expensive than it would be in the country。

in addition to all this, city-dwellers live under constant threat。 the crime rate in most citis is very high。 house are burgles with alarming frequency。 cities breed crime and violence and are full of places you would be afraid to visit at night。 if you think about it, they’re not really fit to live in at all。 can anyone really doubt that the country is what man was born for and where he truly belongs

如何选择朋友how to choose Friends)

As the saying goes, “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. Friends play a very essential role in our daily life. However, how to make goods friends is a problem for most of us. As for me, I have three principles to choose friends.

In the first place, good friends should have their own principles. We should take into account the fact that people who insist on their principles have high quality. Therefore, it is worth making friends with them.

Then, I want to point out that good friends should be full of trust. This kind of person has a pure heart, so we can communicate with each other by heart.

Finally, active friends are just like beautiful sunshine. They can light up our blue mood, drive away the dark clouds and give us courage.

Friends who have above three characteristics will be great wealth for us.

How to Make Friends(如何交朋友)

Everyone needs friends. A friend can give us help and share our difficulties and happiness. But how can we make friends?

First, to make friends, you must be friendly to others. Smile at others and you are sure to get a smile in return. You should try to make a stranger feel at home wherever he happens to be. Think more of others than of yourself and never judge a person by his appearance and clothes.

Second, friends should negotiate instead of quarrel. When you don't agree someone, please discuss with him.

Finally, never believe in those who leave you when you are in trouble. And never leave your friend when he is in trouble. Remember, a friend in need is a friend indeed.

Friends should be faithful to each other. So long as you can put your friend's interests in front of yours, you will have a lot of good friends.

CHOOSING FRIENDS(选择朋友)

A man who is careful in choosing friends will certainly derive benefit from them. Why? Because there are more false friends than real ones in this world. To have one real friends is better than a hundred false ones. Friends who flatter you to your face are not true friends.

We must make friends with those who have good character and kindness of heart. On the other hand, we should do our best to a void keeping company with bad people.

Everyone needs friends, and if you fail to make friends, you should examine yourself and see if there is something wrong with your personality.

May be you have social faults such as snobbishness, talkativeness and using slangetc. which drive away your new acquaintances.

Whatever your social faults may be,look at them honestly and make real effort to correct them.

To be friendly you must feel friendly.Cheerfulness is the basis of friendliness.

A cheerful person smiles.A smile is a magnet which draws people.Smile at someone and you are almost sure to get a smile in return.

A friendly person does his best to make a stranger feel at home, wherever he happens to be.Put yourself in the other fellow's place and make them feel welcome.

Try to remember names. It makes your new acquaintances feel happy when you call them by their names.

It gives them the feeling that they have made an impression on you and that mean something to them because you remember them.

If you don't agree with other people on a certain matter, you should appear to be friendly.Don't argue, but discuss.

You always lose friends if you argue too much.

A friendly person thinks of others, and doesn't insist on his own “rights”.People who refuse to consider others have few friends.

Finally, don't treat people only according to their social positions.Really friendly people respect everyone at all times.

猜测词义的方法有很多,比如根据 语境、定义标记词(means,re fer to,…)、重复标记词(in other words,thatis to say,…)、列举标记词(for example,such as,…)

1:A middle-aged1 professor said that

matter how much he gave her for the household expenses, she always ranshort.

2:Prometheus stayed chained to the rock for many years. Then atlast the mighty2 Hercules c ame forth3 and broke the

3:The tiny droplets4 that form on

to produce a cloud are far apart from each other.

some people to kill pain,in other words,it can help the patients'muscles relax during opera tion.

例如:child-childless(无子 女的,-less表示“无…”), Marx-Marxism(马克思主义,-ism表示“…主 义),large-enlarge(扩大,en-表示”使…“),tell-foret ell(预告,fore- 表示”前“),Australian+satellite→Aussate(澳星),state+run→state-run (国有的 )等等。

A German told me that all over China

will give you higher blood pressure.

(1)DO/you/read/word/by/word?(目光停顿6次)

(2)Can you read/phrase by phrase?(目光停2次)

Four weeks ago/I was late for work.

/I left my house/five minutes later than usual,/and I saw /my bus coming/toward the bus stop.

/I beganto run,/but I was too slow.

/I waited ten minutes/for another bus,/andIwas gasping6 for air/when it arrived.

以Watching Ants(详见统编教材高中英语第一册第14课)为例。 Whil e ants grow,theychange their form three times.(Topic sentence)下面各段分别介 绍蚁后(the queen) 、蚂蚁采食(how to milk bugs)、蚁城饮食情况(how the wholecity is fed)以及相互交谈方式(taptal king)等,这便是这篇文章的 轮廓。

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate。 He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say。 When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, ”If I were any better, I’d be twins!” He was a natural motivator。

If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation。 Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, “I don' t get it。 You can' t be positive all the time。 How do you do it?”

Michael replied, each morning I wake up and say to myself 'Mike, you have two choices today。 You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood。' I choose to be in a good mood。 Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or choose to learn from it。 I choose to learn from it。 Every time someone comes to me complaining I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life。 I choose the positive side of life。“

”Yeah, right。 It isn't that easy。“ I protested。

”Yes it is, “ Michael said。 ”Life is all about choices。 When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice。 You choose how you react to situations。 You choose how people will affect your mood。 You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood。 The bottom line is: It's your choice how you live life。 “ I reflected on what Michael said。

Soon thereafter, I left the big enterprise that I had worked in for years to start my own business。 We lost touch, but I often though about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it。 Several years later, I heard Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling off 60 feet from a communications tower。

After l8 hours of surgery, and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back。 I saw Michael about six months after the accident。 When I asked him how he was, he replied, ”If I were any better, I’d be twins。 Wanna see my scars?“ I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place。

”The first thing that went through my mind was the well being of my soon-to-born daughter,“ Michael replied。 ”Then, as I lay on the ground, remembered I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die。 I chose to live。“ ”Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?“ I asked。 Michael continued, ”。。。 the paramedics were great。 They kept telling me I was going to be fine。 But when they wheeled me into the operation room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared。 In their eyes, l read 'He's a dead man。' I knew I needed to take action。“ ”What did you do?“ I asked。 ”Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me” said Michael。 “She asked me if I was allergic to anything。 ‘Yes,’ I said。 The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply。 I took a deep breath and yelled”, ‘Gravity’” Over their laughter, I told them, 'I'm choosing to live。 Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead'。"

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude。 I Learned from him that every day we have a choice to live fully。 Attitude is everything。
