Son of a bitch!Goddamn it!

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its globalposition. My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter offact,I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some booksabout management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting:Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell morethan others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing thesame difficulties?
With the questions in my mind,I started to read many relevant books. I waslucky to read the book “Jack:Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch,in Which JohnA.

To live a meaningful life everyday; to continually pursue my predetermined worthwhile goals. My view of life.
Could I put myself in the life-threatening working environment? Could I sacrifice my life for the benefits of others? Some people may laugh at my crazy question. To me, that is a serious question I have come a long way to find my answer. “I am not sure whether it is worth to answer”; “What is the true meaning of that question?”
When I was a young child, I watched a soap opera that was about court. I was deeply impressed by the judge’s calmness and the lawyer’s eloquence and resource that were showed in this opera. From then on, I hoped to study law some day. Fortunately, I performed well in entrance examination and got enrolled into xx University. Then I chose law as my major without hesitation. At university, I studied hard and got GPA 3.4. What’s more, I broadly read all kinds of books, including philosophy, history etc. My teachers’ instruction strengthened my understanding of law and makes me understand the significance of law to a country. From my studies, I had a lot of fun and got more interested in law. Moreover, I actively participated in practice in holidays from common company to law firm and tried to apply the theory I had learned into practice.
This summer, I had my internship in counselor department in xxx Group Co Ltd which was involved in a business contract dispute, which was submitted to China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission for arbitration. As a representative of the requested applicant, I took part in the evidence collection in the early arbitration stage and clearly explained why the 5% balance of goods was not paid on time. After knowing the whole case, I visited my teacher, an Arbitration Law professor, and listened to her opinions. Realizing the counterpart didn’t completely implement their contract duty, I gave reasons as follows: First, the counterpart company didn’t mention bearing issue, which caused that the delivered machines couldn’t be put into the plant because of the disqualification of workshop. Thus overhaul was necessary, which delayed production and resulted loss. Based on these reasons, the counterpart didn’t completely carry out its duty, so our party did not pay the balance on time. During this time, I found out the evidence and pictures that attested counterpart did not give reasonable suggestion and service, and made a statement in the court. Finally, the arbitration turned out that counterpart compensated our loss, in which the arbiters invoked the reasons that I stated. They had a panel made up of 3 lawyers and 5 company representatives as agents while we just had 3 persons—two lawyers and me. Under such condition, I was able to cooperate with them and clearly stated my opinions without any nervousness, which got their respect. This matter greatly inspired my enthusiasm on study.
In addition, I took part in the contact draft in several companies. In the process, when I met a lot of problems, I often turned to my teachers for help, which made good impression on them. As I cherished each practice, I studied my specialty and English hard. With effective study method and diligence, I did well both in English and law, which helped me a lot to get scholarship every year. On the other hand, my practice inspired me to study. In practice, I exercised my legal knowledge. I also realize the big gap between theory and its application—sometimes I have master the rules but I didn’t know how to use it in actual case. My practice experiences have not only strengthened what I learned but have supplied new knowledge for me, which is good for my future study and career.
In my study and practice, I admired outstanding lawyers’ eloquence and jumping thinking more and more. However, in China, most of lawyers come from theory study and those who can perform well in practice are insufficient. Moreover, after the China’s entrance to WTO, there are a lot of problems with Chinese law. I think, my internship experience is not enough. In practice, I could combine substantive law with procedural law to analyze case, but I still feel my theoretical foundation is not solid enough. What’s more, comparably speaking, the chances that I have to initiatively study and practice are not a lot. Thereby, I am eager to study further abroad to know more about foreign law, thoughts and lawyer career so that I am able to stand out in fierce competition.

Dear xxx,
Making an option for an undergraduate specialty is just like making an optionfor the course of life. It is the greatest joy in life to indulge in the studyof the specialty that best suits one‘s taste. The specialty of EconomicInformation Management specialty is an interdisciplinary faculty that combinesthe knowledge of computer science, economics and management. It covers threemajor areas that gallop at the fastest speed and throb synchronically with thepulses of the present-day society. As an interdisciplinary subject, it endeavorsto investigate the efficacy of computer application in both economy andmanagement. This perfectly fitted in with my innate quickness of thought and myclose concern for reality. For several years in the past, I have experiencedmany setbacks and frustrations in the process of studying this subject, but Ihave also experienced the joy, the illumination and the stimulation that itbrought me with its rapid development and practical values. Anyway, I willcontinue to be fascinated by this subject with its endless secrets.
Years of study and research, as well as practical work, have enabled me todevelop a superb command of computer technology and its application inmanagement. To me, the subjects on data structure, computer network,target-oriented methods and C++, information systems analysis and designing, trade information and EDI, information economics, industrial enterpriseinformation management, and commercial enterprise information management are themost beautiful flowers in this infinitely beautiful garden of knowledge. Theyexposed to me a brand-new academic sphere featuring interdependence and commonadvancement, leaving me completely enamored with the enormous practical value ofthe computer technology. At present, I have become well versed in manyprofessional skills, including Java Delphi, C / C ++, VB, HTML and JavaScript. In terms of operational system and databanks, I am very skilled in Windows NT,UNIX, MSSQL Server, Sybase and DB2. Due to the nature of the specialty, I mustclosely follow the latest academic developments, especially in the latestprogress of computer technology. I often take an active part in academicmeetings and technical training. For example, I was involved in a number ofacademic events sponsored by CCF Young Computer Scientists & EngineersForum, which covered the development of Linux technology in China, networksafety and multimedia technologies. Recently, I have conducted a comparativestudy of several popularly-employed servers and my research findings will soonbe published in the China Computer Technology Journal. In addition to thisresearch, my graduation thesis is another fruition of my devoted academicendeavors. It deals with IC card technology and its application. It aims toresolve the safety and the encryption technology of IC card as well as theconcrete design of IC card machine room controls. In this project, we studiedthe working principles of IC card that can be read repetitively as well as an ICcard reader capable of repeated reading to realize the functions of online feecalculation through IC card reading technologies. The research findings weresubsequently employed in the management of our university‘s own computer center. The judges of my thesis unanimously rated the thesis as thoroughgoing andexhaustive, replete with original concepts, and with very rich values both intheory and in practice.
My interest and industry were well rewarded with outstanding scholasticresults. My fellow students were all very brilliant and I was far behind themwhen I first entered the university. But my dauntless character drove me upward.I later caught up with them and ranked fourth in a class of 46 students. My GPAwas 3.4 in the four years of study and was 3.5 in the latter two, showing anupward progress. I scored for four times the highest-grade scholarships and wasrated as an outstanding graduate, something very rare in a class. My thesis wasalso graded “outstanding.”
At the stage of undergraduate studies, I was engaged in specific softwaredevelopment related to my specialty. I realized some financial modules withVisual Foxpro in the E-commerce modular education software. Upon graduation fromuniversity, I worked at the Product R&D Department of a very famous computercompany mainly involved in the research and development of net banks and onlinepayment. The projects in which I participated at this company include: theR&D of online banking projects of the Industrial and Commercial Bank ofChina and the Agricultural Bank of China, and the R&D of intermediatepayment products bys Globalset, QSI and Trintech. In the ISO9000 softwarequality confirmation work, I was responsible for managing and researching thesoftware quality system standards. In the annual China International FinancialExhibition, I was responsible for organizing and planning. During this period ofmy work, I have become acquainted with many leading techniques, including thedemand analysis, systems designing, software designing and project managementfor ISO90000 standardized techniques related to the Java Enterprise grade and toNetwork Safety. My performance has received highly positive comments from mysuperior.
Nevertheless, in the actual working experience, I have become increasinglyaware of the weaknesses of the relevant computer technology in China. In thefield of E-commerce, China‘s footsteps of development have been withheld mainlybecause China has neither E-commerce solutions suitable for its particularconditions nor advanced software and network technologies. There is a big gapbetween China and advanced western countries in software quality because Chinahas not paid adequate attention to this issue. China has not yet developedrelevant intellectual technology or established a complete set of reliablemechanisms with regard to the implementation of software designing, testing andmaintenance. I have developed an adequate command of the relevant skills inthose aspects and I have always maintained an intense interest in them. I hopethat by seeking advanced studies abroad, I will succeed in finding a suitableE-commerce solution for China‘s emerging industry in this field. On the otherhand, I will be equipped to make contributions to the development of China‘ssoftware sector, especially to help improve its software quality.
A careful investigation has informed me that your university is a leadinguniversity featuring an educational system and research atmosphere far moreadvanced than those in China and boasting a number of accomplished professorswhose academic attainments are also far beyond the reach of their Chinesecounterparts. It is my belief that I will acquire the most advanced knowledge inthe field of E-commerce and software quality, the kind of knowledge that Iexploit to promote the development of China‘s own expertise. I am soberly awarethat no one can accomplish tremendous achievements in all fields, but as long asI orientate myself to one field for which I have accumulated considerableexpertise and constructed a solid groundwork, I am sure that I will attain afulfilling career out of it.
Yours sincerely,
xxx

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England. The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. As a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. My mother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simple calculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I, also, would someday be able to enter the realm of business.
With the time of growing up, I preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered. Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.
As a high school student in China, I had to concentrate on the College Entrance Examination (CEE), even so, books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, , I was so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in the department of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms, I realized that I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At that moment, I lost my direction and objectives.
My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some books about management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting: Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell more than others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?
With the questions in my mind, I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book “Jack: Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch, in Which John A. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. When I was a junior, I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. I should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. From this, my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed, definitely I was increasingly interested in what I was doing. By December, , I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge, I strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.
Fortunately, as a senior, I began by conducting an internship in the Architecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months, I worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different industries. The experience showed me that management is much more important than that of I thought in big companies. After graduation, I continued my work in this company. In May, , the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depth discussions with teachers and students in the classes, they all encouraged me to pursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual ability and the brand new ideas I mentioned.
During the short period of training, I realized that pursuing a higher degree in management is a wise choice for me now. Lancaster, with its excellence in management, represents the perfect fit for my needs. In your challenging environment, I can build the required foundation of knowledge related to management to achieve my goals. I am firmly convinced that your admission will be my first step of success. With this in mind, I hereby submit my application, and await your favorable reply.

Applied Program:Organizational Behavior
I am interested in the field of study of Organizational Behavior. In the past, I have had the experience of working in settings where the people and the corporate cultures of the companies were all different. I have found that there is a great difference in the both the behaviors of people and of their organizations, depending on whether they are state-owned enterprises (SOEs), large multinational firms, or small to medium sized foreign enterprises. One simple example is that of the ability of an employee to act independently without direct instructions from his or her boss. In many Chinese organizations, acting without direct instructions is considered a form of disrespect towards the supervisor, who is generally offended by such behavior. In my experience and research, such organizations tend to have low operating efficiency with the employees losing their innate ability to take the initiative.

Currently, I am a junior student in International College of Hubei Normal University majoring in Accounting. Thus, I have obtained great knowledge about business for the past three years. Success stories of my parents , relatives and friends along their career-path have entrenched my belief in being independent and confident as a contributing memeber of the community.
As I look back on early days of my schooling , I am just as grateful to my working parents for having sent me to one of the best boarding schools in Beijing where I received quality primary education and learned to appreciate independence. As I recall , being independent was probably the biggest asset I gained as a teenager with the absence of parental guardianship for most of those 6 years. After I upgraded to secondary school, I offered to go to school by bike. Though hesitant at first, my parents gave their well-thought-out consent to the 15-km ride average Chinese parents would simply veto in the first place given the “one-child policy”and subsequent “little emperors” pampered by parents and grandparents. Thankfully, that day-to-day routine bike trip, rain or sunshine, tempered my strong character. I have been holding myself to highest standards, academically and physically from primary school days through to college life. I have grown up all these years amongst top cohorts and have been exposed to varied horizons and dimensions of school life in and outside of classroom. I am perfectly healthy and stong with a sharp mind and demonstrated commitment to teamwork. I was handpicked to play for school baseball team when I was in primary school. Back then, my proven leadership and excellent skills in the field assured my coach that I was born to be a team leader. And I did justice to his well-timed appointment by heading a team of Beijing to compete in Shanghai and Hong Kong several times. And the strong track record of out outstanding performances each time still fills me with pride and excitement today. During one match tour to Hong Kong in the 1990s, I was immediatel exposed to the enviable luxury and prosperity of the city, the dynamic economic center of Asia. That trip awakened me ,for the first time, to the value of wealth and finance. And it was that very journey to the thriving metropolis that shaped my ambition to be a financer.
Years later, when the colleg entrance exam came, that moment of life and death for most of senior high school students in China,my top preference was Finance Colllege of Beijing Technology and Business Unversity. The result came as a sad surprise as I was admitted to Computer Science College instead. But I stuck with my dream major and decided to minor in finance. I have since worked hard to equip myself with systematic knowledge of finance. As a result , I amd now well on my way to graduation with double degrees in both computer science and finance in 2012.
During my college days,I led my cohorts in starting up a micro company as I dabbled into the real business world. We settled for newspaper as our maiden attempt.. As a new horn,I took a hands-on approach, from editing to circulating, from cost control to market survey. My strong leadership and sunergy of the entire team kept this mini organization going pretty well in its infancy. Yet inexperience in operation and cost management led to a failed business in the end. But I saw the silver lining in the failed venture. I now know more about where I need to work on. When I was a little boy, my parents taught me how to manage money in the safest way. They helped me put my pocket money in the bank and get interest as a return. Now, as a grown-up already,I recognize that systematic learning and book knowledge can truely help me know how much more about what finance is all about. Naturally, as one’s knowledge about swimming increases, the desire to swim in the sea grows. Yet, with more academic exposure, I have come to realize how I am ill-equipped with the knowledge needed to stay afloat in the trubulent sea of finance. That self-conscious humbleness versus the profundiy of finance as a much-respected discipline has led me to opt for further study in the US,home to a number of world-class colleges of finance.
After meticulous comparision and cross-checking, I have settled for Clark University, the birthplace of the first-ever graduate school in the US. I trust that demanding academic standards here and ,best of all ,great mastermind of finance that Clark can offer will undoubtedly broaden my horizon and update my vision as financier of the future. To me,Clark is the best and right place that can surely make the difference, academically and professionally alike. I am more than anxious to embrace those best minds in Clark and contribute my humble part to its huge wealth of knowledge and innovative ideas. I am therefore very much looking forward to a positive reply from Clark, my dream campus. May that offer come just in time for my journey towards a rewading learning experience in one of the greatest colleges in the US.

I am a student, graduated from BaoYang middle school, Nanning, GuangXi autonomous region, in 2006. I am still studying in high school now, because I was not enrolled by the ideal university last year. Recently, I have a dream to study abroad. Then I search online and find that it is more convenient and suitable for me to go to New Zealand for study. First, New Zealand is a multicultural country, which has the most advanced education in the world. Second, the tuition is lower than other countries’, which I think is mo
re reasonable for me. Finally, the climate of New Zealand is similar with the climate of the South of China. Considering above reasons, I told my parents my plan on going to New Zealand for study, and my parent agreed with me.
As a girl, I like preschool education since I was young. Nowadays, Chinese parents, who want their children to get better education, pay more attention to preschool education. If I study specialized curriculums on preschool education, I will go back China and work hard on preschool education after leaving college.
My plan is as follows: first, I plan to study English in language institute for about a half year in New Zealand. Then, I will study specialized curriculums on preschool education.
I believe I have the ability of study abroad, because I have finished all high school curriculums. Besides, my parents both have job and have rich income, so they will support me to finish my study. After finishing my study, I will return to my homeland and work on preschool education, so as to realize my life value.

Dear Sir or Madam,
At the request of University of Denver, my student in Zhengzhou 19th High School, I’m providing this reference, which I hope can be useful for you to review her application to your undergraduate program.
I have been the Chinese teacher and class director in Zhengzhou 19th High School for more than ten years. We are one of the most famous and high-quality high schools in the whole city, the faculties in our school are all renowned and highly-experienced. Though I’m relatively young in the school, I have lots of experience in Chinese teaching and student managing. I have been titled the outstanding young teacher and class-director by school and city.
Yadi Wang came to my class in September 2006, the semester she entered our school. I know she is talent in music. She used to performance flute in our school activities, such as in talent show. In 2007, she passed the high level test of FLUTE LEVEL 8. She loves music that is all her classmates and school teachers know.
YADI WANG had special leadership and friendship in my class. Once we were about to take part in our school’s drama festival. We were supposed to play a Chinese traditional drama –BAIMAONU. I analyzed some key plots and roles of this drama to my students, and then left all the other works to their own. YADI WANG was in charge of the directing and casting. It was not an easy job as it may sound. The enthusiasm made everybody ask for the leading roles, but no one was willing to take these minor ones. So YADI WANG decided to run an audition. Combined the performance in the audition and students’ actual characteristics, YADI WANG assigned everyone the most suitable role. And then, she divided the crew into several groups. Different groups rehearsed in different places at the same time. And the leading actors were the strings to connect these groups into a collectivity. Through this way, it saved lots of time, which was the scarcest thing to middle school students, to get everybody into his role. And before the final performance, she just needed to call all the actors together for a preview for once or twice. She has done even better than I had expected.
Another time was in a seminar, we ran a debate competition about teacher’s professional ethics. YADI WANG was the leading debater of the con side. During the debate, she showed her wide knowledge and eloquence. She used lots of proverbs, history figures and examples to support her stand, and every word of her was incisive to get to the point, and also full of humors. Her performance won both her teammates and opponents’ admiration.
Her positivity and versatility also can be found in many other aspects. She is ours school’s famous piano player who is always invited to play in many occasions. She knows the traditional skill of calligraphy writing, which she has been practicing from very small. During weekends or vacations, the “Holiday Working Team” she leads can always be found doing many community services. Normally, in order to get more students to participate in class’s management, the student cadre will change every semester or two, by student vote. But Yadi Wang has won all the elections by now, so she continued to be the monitor from the beginning of our class to today, and very likely to the graduation. All her classmates have approbated her ability, characteristics and performance. She is already a model in the class.
In this reference, I didn’t mention much about Yadi Wang’s grade, which I believe you can easily find was so outstanding from her transcripts and her ranking (25th out of 1560 students), because I’d like to give you something that you cannot find from these documents but I think is equally important to contribute to her excellence. I do hope, according to my recommendation, you could give her a favorable review. Thank you! Please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely Yours
Molly Yu

As a child I often accompanied my father to his small coin shop and spent hours watching him work. When I was older, I sometimes set up displays, waited on customers, and even balanced the books. This experience instilled in me the desire to own and manage my own business someday, yet I understand that the business world today is more complex. This complexity requires more education, and with that in mind, I am applying to the Master’s of Business Administration program at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB).
In addition to my helping out in my father’s business, I have had numerous other work experiences that further enhance my qualifications for this program. My resume enumerates the various positions I have held at Kerasotes Theaters, Chili’s restaurants, and Indiana University’s new Student Recreational Sports Center (SRSC), and what all of these positions have in common is an emphasis on serving the public effectively. Further, as an assistant manager at the Showplace 11 and a staff coordinator at the SRSC, I have gained valuable expertise in managing employees and creating work schedules. Both of these positions have allowed me to develop my sales and people skills, which are extremely important in an increasingly service-driven marketplace.
Not all of my work experience has been as a paid employee. Part of my volunteering experience at Middleway House, the local battered women’s shelter, involved extensive work on computers, including word processing, organizing databases and creating spreadsheets. Also, I recently participated in an internship program for academic credit with the Eli Lilly corporation in the personnel division. As a management intern, I was able to watch the workings of a major corporation up close and would like the opportunity to combine my experiences with the theoretical background available in the MBA program at IUB, with its emphasis on computers, marketing and human resources.
My successful internship is one element of my overall academic success as an undergraduate here at IUB, yet I have also made time for a variety of extracurricular activities, including working for my sorority and competing in intramural basketball. My positive experiences here have resulted in my desire to stay in Bloomington to continue my academic endeavors; furthermore, continuing my education here would allow me to make important business contacts, with the career goal of opening my own computer consulting firm in the Midwest.
