Honesty is regarded as a virtue by most, if not all, of the world's cultures and religions. Many of us, if asked to enumerate the qualities we seek in a friend or a partner, would place honesty at the top of the list. In reality, many people seem to think that being honest is for others and not for themselves. However, I believe that, given the negative consequences of lying and deception, practicing honesty is in our own best interest.

For one thing, being dishonest can have serious side-effects on our mental health. Dishonest people even if they have not yet been “found out”, are likely to carry guilt and shame inside them. This is because, although lying is an immoral, most liars still have a conscience deep down inside. For another thing, those who misleads or lie to others are bound to be caught sooner or later. Indeed, people may get away with lying once or even several times. However, the one time that they get caught could entail great loss, or even spell their downfall. Depending on the nature of deception, having one's lies could mean losing one's job, being deserted by friends and family, or even spending time in jail.

Generally speaking, while it may be impossible to eliminate the deceit that exists around us, each of us can decide whether, and to what extent, to practice truthfulness ourselves. Considering the adverse influence that lying can have——including destroying our mental heath and , ultimately, causing us to suffer great loss——it is apparent that honesty is our only viable option.

In recent years, a new type of online shopping is rapidly gaining popularity ― group purchasing, which was originally introduced from foreign countries but is now widely accepted all over China. People can buy not only goods, but also all kinds of services on group purchasing sites.

Group purchasing is very convenient, and saves people a lot of money. But it also has some problems. Since group purchasing is nothing more than another form of online shopping, the nature of it is no different from other online shopping patterns. Problems that exist in online shopping also can be found in group purchasing, like deceptive advertisements or poor after-sale services.

In my opinion, we should treat group purchasing as a way of shopping and nothing more. We must be careful not to buy something we don’t need only to follow the fashion.

Ideals

Everyone has his ideals. A businessman wishes to make greater profit; a farmer expects plumper harvests; a student tries to learn more and better.

However, one should be sensible about whether his ideal is well founded or not. If it is, one has to plan and work hard for its realization. Effort, skill and persistence are all necessary. And very often, one has to get help from others, including advice and support in one form or another.

My ideal is to become a doctor. It is said that the field of medicine is a well-paid profession, but I take it as a lofty profession entrusted with saving people’s lives. To realize my ideal I have concentrated on laboratory work to develop the analytical skills necessary to become a qualified doctor. I believe that I will realize this ideal one day.

Online Games

As a product of modern computer and the Internet, online games have become very popular among college students. A great many students have enjoyed great pleasure and satisfaction from these games. But as we see, some students lacking self-discipline are too much indulged in these games so that their health and academic performances are affected. This phenomenon has caused much worry from the teachers and parents.

However, some others argue that online games are not always harmful. They can train the ability of youngsters to respond to things quickly. Moreover, they can stimulate their imagination and their interest in computer science. More importantly, it does bring college students much pleasure and release their pressure greatly.

From my point of view, online games are a wonderful entertainment if you play them in a reasonable way. When they interfere too much with your study, it is better for you to give them up at once. Yet if you have enough self-control over them, you can certainly obtain real pleasure and benefit a lot from them.

never is the way for disabled people to success easy. apart from hard work, they need special patience and will, which are the key to success. often we’re moved by their experiences. then we will respect them and help them.

as the god seems as if not equal to disabled people, we should help them. some day when you meet a blind person in the street, go to help him/ her cross the street or show him/ her the way; some day when you meet a disabled person in a bus, give your seat to him/ her; some day you meet a disabled beggar, offer him some money; some day when you talk with a disabled person, encourage him/ her and let him/ her know the world is still beautiful. not only should we treat disabled people equally, but even more well!
