去年9月到今年6月，我在美国当地的一所学校为一名来自日本的同学做翻译。学校快开学的去年8月底，我去学校看新的分班名单。学校门口摆着一张课桌，桌上放有一张纸，纸上写有各个年级的新的分班名单。我所在的班里有不少日本人的名字，其中有一位是我不认识的安藤同学。

新学期开始的那天，我在学校看到一个没有见过的东方血统的同学。我猜想他可能就是安藤。新的班主任米勒老师跟安藤说话，我走上去给他们担任翻译。这便是我做翻译的开端。

我就那样开始给安藤做翻译。不过，班主任米勒老师却从来没有对我说过“桥本麦，新的日本人转学到我们这里，你给做做翻译吧。”之类的话。我只是觉得日本同学刚来这里，我不给他做翻译，他可能会有些不方便。我就好像参加志愿者活动一样开始给安藤做翻译。在此之前，我从来没有参加过任何真正的志愿者活动，所以对志愿者活动抱有一种期待感。

安藤去年刚到美国，英语一句也不会。我也是因此才想到要给他做翻译的。像他这样刚来美国的外国学生，一般每天要去两小时左右的ESL（英语特别课程），不上ESL的时候就和我们一起学习。不过，像作文和拼写那样较难的课，他们就做ESL的作业。算术、图画、音乐以及体育等课，ESL的同学和我们一起上。我尽量让安藤坐在我旁边，有不懂的地方，我就给他翻译。我们就是这样学习的。

Both wealthy and poor children are equally likely to acquire an education in money,whether it is formal,or in the school of hard knocks. Conversely, both children are as likely to ignore this education.

A poor child may believe that one can get along,if not as easily,without wealthy.A wealthy child may be well trained by a parent steeped in the knowledge of money management,the key to developing this skill is education.

To sum up, I am sure that many amazing changes will be brought by the 21st century. Furthermore, I think that with the help of the contemporary technologies people can do many things that were even difficult to imagine a century ago. So, nowadays it is rather difficult and even impossible to imagine all changes that will happen in the next decades.
