今年的政府工作报告回顾工作时提及，“就业增长超出预期。20城镇新增就业1314万人。高校毕业生就业创业人数再创新高。”麦可思研究院发布的《年中国大学生就业报告》显示，届大学生毕业半年后的就业率为91.7％，与届的92.1％和届的91.4％基本持平。
从数据来看，大学生就业率并不低，但社会上仍然弥漫着就业难的气息。
在黄德宽看来，近年来大学生就业呈现分层次的特点。“好的大学、好的专业，学生就业没有问题，一些重点大学毕业生还有很多选择机会，一些社会需求量稳定的专业，也不存在就业难的问题。”
“其实不是找工作难，是找好工作难。” 经历了一个学期找工作的奔波后，武汉大学大四学生申敏忍不住感慨。在她看来，大学本科毕业基本都能找到工作，但要薪酬、工作环境、工作性质都满意就很难了。“体制内的工作往往工资低，工资高的企业又不稳定。”
据黄德宽观察，大学毕业生就业压力较大的是一些办学质量相对低的高职类院校，“毕业生就业满意度相对低一些”。
“还有一类情况，就是前几年一些热门专业集中上马和扩招，当时很多人主张社会需要什么人才我们就办什么专业，比如金融、法律、经济、英语等，这样肯定会导致人才过剩。”黄德宽认为，“办学不能简单追求热门，今天的热门专业如果‘一哄而上’，未来就会变成冷门。”
西北政法大学国际法专业毕业生李良对此深有感触：“本来以为法律专业就业面挺广的，临毕业了才发现其实不好找工作。”李良说，本专业做律师的一个班里只有一两个人，更多同学选择考研、考公务员。
“高校不能简单地通过看专业的热和冷来决定是否办学。国家发展需要方方面面的人才，要从宏观上进行调控，根据整体的国家人才需求和经济发展需求来考量，有些冷门学科只要科学控制规模，就业率就会很高。” 黄德宽说。
10月，教育部发布《教育部、国家发展改革委、财政部关于引导部分地方普通本科高校向应用型转变的指导意见》，提出促进地方普通高校与中职、专科层次高职有机衔接。针对大学生就业难的问题，全国政协常委、复旦大学教授葛剑雄已呼吁多年，在接受中国青年报·中青在线记者采访时他表示，高校如今分为应用型和科研型，解决大学生就业问题，应提高应用型院校的办学质量，加强这些专业的实用性，让大学生更容易找到对口的工作。
《国家中长期教育改革和发展规划纲要（-）》提出，20全国高等教育毛入学率要达到40％。葛剑雄认为：“不应该主张让所有人都去考大学，但应让每个阶层的年轻人都有出路。”
经历了一年的奔波找工作后，广东工业大学大四学生江枫总结，就业时最需要的是放平心态。“现实和理想总有落差，找工作时把在哪儿定居、是否买房子等问题同时压上，想法多了选择自然困难，就找不到工作了。”
全国政协委员王次炤也建议，年轻人应该把就业的眼界打开，要能放得下，最初就业期望值不要过高，要敢于从基层做起，靠努力逐步实现自己的目标。
如今有一些年轻人，因为就业不满意而主动选择暂不就业或者待就业，此举不乏争议，黄德宽认为应给待就业的大学生一定空间：“我相信更多的90后是积极向上的，应给他们空间去自我发展，或者寻找创业的机会。只要他们是主动选择了这种方式，就不要着急，社会和家庭要宽容一些。”
破解就业难问题，全国人大代表、华南农业大学副校长吴鸿认为是个“系统工程”，需要“全社会添砖加瓦”。在他看来，这不仅需要学校在大学原有的课程体系中增加更多的实践能力培养，企业也应该多一些耐心，花时间对大学生进行再培训，学生自己更应该努力学习专业知识技能。
对于就业创业，全国政协委员、著名经济学家厉以宁在接受中国青年报·中青在线记者采访时寄语年轻人：“无尽的路途在前面，就看有没有耐心、毅力和智慧。”
