双语诗歌life for rent

The Truth

My sadness locked inside a box,

kept guarded within my heart,

And little do they know,

that my smile is merely a bluff.

Yet I lay, hoping that someone

will see through my fassad.

Mothers Friends and lovers may come and go, but mothers are forever as you know! Mothers love you good or bad, My mothers the very best freind,I've ever had. There is nothing more precious on earth, other than the day when she gave birth. No matter how far away or so near, your the one that I hold so dear! Now there's only one more thing to say... happy...Happy...Happy Mothers Day!!!! Betty Jean Walters

A friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out.

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend, Someone who changes your life just by being part of it, Someone who makes you laugh until you can’t stop, Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world, Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open, This is Forever Friendship.

When you’re down, And the world seems dark and empty, Your forever friend lifts you up in spirits, And makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full, Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times.

If you turn and walk away, Your forever friend follows, If you lose you way, Your forever friend guides you and cheers you on. Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay. And if you find such a friend, You feel happy and complete, Because you need not worry.

i remember,i remember,

the house where i was born,

the little window where the sun

came peeping in at morn;

he never came a wink too soon,

nor brought too long a day,

but now ,i often wish the night

had borne my breath away.

在清晨悄悄地往里张望;

i remember,i remember

the roses red and white,

the violets, and the lily-cups,

those flowers made of light!

the lilacs where the robin built,

and where my brother set

the laburnum on his birthday,—

the tree is living yet!

i remember,i remember

where i was used to swing,

and thought the air must rush as fresh

to swallows on the wing;

my spirit flew in feathers then,

that is so heavy now,

and summer pools could hardly cool

the fever on my brow!

和飞翔的燕子一样飘荡;

i remember,i remember,

the fir trees dark and high;

i used to think their slender tops

were close against the sky:

it was a childish ignorance,

but now 'tis little joy

to know i'm farther off from heaven

than when i was a boy.

那棵高大的枞树郁郁葱葱;

我总认为接近了天空;

The Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:

Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer! and Vixen!

On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donder! and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of Toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my head, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.

How to read

How to read

Virginia Woolf

It is simple enough to say that since books have classes — fiction, biography, poetry — we should separate them and take from each what it is right that each should give us.

Yet few people ask from books what books can give us. Most commonly we come to books with blurred and divided minds, asking of fiction that it shall be true, of poetry that it shall be false, of biography that it shall be flattering, of history that it shall enforce our own prejudices. If we could banish all such preconceptions when we read, that would be an admirable beginning.

Do not dictate to your author; try to become him. Be his fellow-worker and accomplice. If you hang back, and reserve and criticize at first, you are preventing yourself from getting the fullest possible value from what you read.

But if you open your mind as widely as possible, then signs and hints of almost imperceptible fineness, from the twist and turn of the first sentences, will bring you into the presence of a human being unlike any other. Steep yourself in this, acquaint yourself with this, and soon you will find that your author is giving you, or attempting to give you, something far more definite.

The thirty-two chapters of a novel — if we consider how to read a novel first — are an attempt to make something as formed and controlled as a building: but words are more impalpable than bricks; reading is a longer and more complicated process than seeing. Perhaps the quickest way to understand the elements of what a novelist is doing is not to read, but to write; to make your own experiment with the dangers and difficulties of words.

Recall, then, some event that has left a distinct impression on you — how at the corner of the street, perhaps, you passed two people talking. A tree shook; an electric light danced; the tone of the talk was comic, but also tragic; a whole vision, an entire conception, seemed contained in that moment.

To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,

Old Time is still a-flying;

And this same flower that smiles today

Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the Sun,

The higher he’s a-getting,

The sooner will his race be run,

And nearer he’s setting.

That age is best which is the first,

When youth and blood are warmer;

But being spent, the worse and worst

Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time;

And while ye may, go marry;

For having lost but once your prime,

You may forever tarry.

时光老人脚步分秒不停;

瞬息之间就照上头顶;

人生宝贵就在青春;

找好爱的'归宿正当妙龄;

TO SPRING(双语诗歌)

Oh you, sweet Spring, alight from cherub's wing,

And put the ugly winter full to flight;

And rouse the earth to smile, and larks to sing,

With skies so bright and hearts of youth so light.

Your gentle and genial breaths each blossom blow,

While bees in gardens hum the lullabies.

The hills and dales are stripp'd of mantles of snow,

And streams and rivers freed from irons of ice.

May seasons all be Spring--the pride of years,

That all the thing would e'er in glories gleam!

May men be ever in the prime of years!

But dream, however sweet, is but a dream.

If happy when you come and sad when gone,

Would that you'd never come or never gone!

吓得讨厌的冬天狼狈逃窜;

Like Just Meet For The First Time

Similar to a beautiful poem,a beautiful dream

Can only be obtained by chance, not by pray,

Coming up always at moments least expected

I like that kind of dream

In which everything could start again

And everything could take time to explain

Even gratitude and ecstasy are felt in my heart

As if all wasted time could unexpectedly return

My heart is overflowed with happiness

Because you're smiling in front of me

Just as you were years back

A kind of dream I really like

Knowing that for my sake you’ve trekked thousands of miles

I still feel lush grass fresh and fallen petals in profusion,

As if you and I just had met for the first time

Climb over five thousand years,

Side banner will give you the bright,

My dear motherland.

Hence,

I am not going to crawl,

Hence,

I will not be subjected to slavery,

Hence,

my monument in the new China,

Straight into a stand of trees.

Trees,

I am just an ordinary tree.

Spray can not be turned into the new China will be singing the songs around the clock;

Clouds can not become a new China dress China and the United States movement.

I am just a normal tree,

Incoming sand standing place

With my brothers and sisters together

For my motherland green barriers erected.

I am just a normal tree,

Standing on the shore of the choppy,

With my brothers and sisters together

For my country to increase the strength of Haiphong.

I am just a normal tree,

Standing on ice and snow of the north sky,

With my brothers and sisters together

For my sculpture image of the motherland.

I am just a normal tree,

Hot side of the south,

With my brothers and sisters together

For my country to open up a cool road.

I am just a normal tree,

Even if I fall,

Also let the speeding train,

With young Chinese,

To break through the fog of financial crisis,

Direct access to the full glory of a new era.

不能变成浪花将新中国的赞歌日夜高唱;

Bright Smile

Whose smile is it? It’s so sweet, so deep

And so round! Strings of pearls, small ones,

Big ones, all sparkle with innocence!

Emerging from spring, it floats to the surface

And brightly

Scatters around!

Whose smile is it? It’s like a flower blossom,

Graceful, not disturbing a soul!

The mindless, subtle fragrance drifts with wind,

Whiffs over a low wall, and sojourns

In the air

Around the sun.

Whose smile is it? It built this hundred story tower

With unknown birds flying around? Whose smile

Is it? It made tens of thousands of wind bells ring

From the eaves of colored glazes layers

All the way up

Into the sky?

Requiescat

strew on her roses, roses,

and never a spray of yew.

in quiet she reposes;

ah! would that i did too.

her mirth the world required;

she bathed it in smiles of glee.

but her heart was tired, tired.

and now they let her be.

her life was turning, turning;

in mazes of heat and sound;

but for peace her soul was yearning,

and now peace laps her round.

her cabin’d, ample spirit,

if flutter’d and fail’d for breath

to-night it doth inherit

the vasty hall of death.

世界曾需要她的欢笑;

How long will the full moon appear?

Wine cup in hand, I ask the sky.

I do not know what time of the year

’Twould be tonight in the palace on high.

Riding the wind, there I would fly,

Yet I'm afraid the crystalline palace would be

Too high and cold for me.

I rise and dance, with my shadow I play.

On high as on earth, would it be as gay?

The moon goes round the mansions red

Through gauze-draped window soft to shed

Her light upon the sleepless bed.

Why then when people part, is the oft full and bright?

Men have sorrow and joy; they part or meet again;

The moon is bright or dim and she may wax or wane.

There has been nothing perfect since the olden days.

So let us wish that man

Will live long as he can!

Though miles apart, we’ll share the beauty she displays.

Liberty and Love

by Sandor Petofi

Liberty, love!

These two I need.

For my love I will sacrifice life,

For liberty I will sacrifice my love.

Little

小小的

Stalk without wrinkle,

Pool in which images

Should be grand and classical

Not this troublous

Wringing of hands, this dark

Ceiling without a star.
