五、有关准备推荐信的注意事项
推荐信中的`内容一定要和RESUME以及0008表中所添内容一致,不能有任何出入。有些移民官检查材料非常细致,如果发现有出入,会留下不诚实的感觉,这是非常忌讳的。
如果申请人在不同的单位工作过,最好搞到该单位的推荐信。尤其对工作时间并不长的申请人来说是比较重要的。因为申请人的工作经验得分是与工作年限有直接关系的。

凡是希望通过特殊人才(eb1a),杰出教授和研究人员(eb1b)和国家利益豁免(niw)的途径申请移民美国的,都必须提供推荐信。那么,推荐信对你的移民申请有什么作用呢?推荐信的作用在于它能帮助移民官了解移民申请人在自己行业里取得的专业成就和地位。在审理你的申请的移民官眼里就是专家证言,类似法庭上的专家证词。移民官审理过各种不同领域的申请,他们是否对不同领域的研究或工作都精通呢?不是。我们递交的eb1a,eb1b 和niw申请都附带一堆专业论文,审理你的申请的移民官是不是仔细阅读你的每篇专业论文呢?我想,未必!他们不仅看不懂也没有时间看。他们看什么来决定该不该批面前这份申请?他们主要看三方面的材料:第一方面是有关该类案件的法律条件和审理政策;第二方面是律师准备的证明材料(petition package);第三方面就是看专家们怎么说。第一方面不是问题。因为审理eb1a,eb1b 和niw申请的移民官一般都是精通法律和熟悉业务的老移民官(指资历,非指年龄)。移民局一般不安排新移民官审理这些技术要求较高的移民申请案件。第二方面极其重要,因为律师的材料能将你本人,移民官和移民法律联系起来,让移民官相信他/她应该作出批准的决定。有关律师的作用,以后再谈。这里只谈第三方面的材料,就是推荐信。

推荐信的质量是案件成败的关键。好的推荐信是对申请有帮助的推荐信,有帮助的推荐信就是逻辑性强而且充分肯定和评价申请人成就和贡献的专家证词。好的推荐信还应该紧扣主题并有具体事例(内容)作证明。没有实际内容,大话空话连篇的推荐信没有用而被扔掉。比如说,推荐信中强调某某博士是某方面研究的国际知名的学者,那么该推荐信就应该接著讲给读者听为什么或如何说某某博士是国际知名的学者。

推荐信应包括哪些内容?这取决于推荐信的用途。我们在这里只从加拿大技术移民的需要这个角度,来讨论雇主推荐信应包括哪些内容。一封合格的雇主推荐信应该包含以下三部分的`内容(缺一不可):
申请人的职业。
申请人的职业,必须在推荐信的第一段,明确说明。
