Direct answer + X
1. X= 5WH+ How Often
Have you travelled recently?
1 :Yes, I have. (Direct answer)Last month(when) I went to Hong Kong(where) with my parents(who). We had a great time at the Disney Land and went shopping, too.(what) 思路演示2: No,I haven’t(Direct answer). I’m been busy with my studies(why). But after the exam(when), my parents and I(who)are going to Hong Kong and we would like to go to Disney Land and go shopping, too. (what)
Part 2真题:Describe a library that you have used.
You should say:
where it was
what type of library it was
what you used the library for
what you liked and /or disliked about this library
and explain how useful it was for your studies or research.
思路演示:“where it was”: on campus(Direct answer)
(Where): It was next to our teaching building of English Department (When) : It was built 50 years ago when our school was established. (Who) : Most of the students liked to go there as well as the teachers (How often): I almost went there everyday especially around exam time.
X= examples
What's your favourite type of music? Well,I’m a big fan of Modern Popular Music(Direct answer), you know, like Hip-Pop, Rap, Rhythm and Blues , Rock ‘n roll, things like that… Part 3 真题:What kinds of films do people in China like to watch? Well, they watch a broad range of movies, in fact(Direct answer). For instance, men prefer Action & Adventure , Martial Arts and Romantic Comedy. But women are more into Romance and Romantic Comedy. And children are quite interested in Science Fiction and Animated Cartoons
雅思口语高频:a person in the news who you want to meet.
Describe a person in the news who you want to meet.
Personally, the person I would like to meet most will be Murakami Haruki. He is a writer. He was my favorite writer back in middle school and still remains one of the writers whose books I will buy, in no time, whatever they publish. For me, still a middle school student, he was like a bridge linking between my prisoned youth at school and the mysterious adulthood lost in some metropolis. I could not help bringing the author himself into the world of his novel as a symbiosis of the protagonist and these two persona will coincide in a very interesting way. Is he a womanizer or ascetic? Is he proactive or docile? These questions walk me through many nights wondering what kind of person I am and will be. As far as I know, Mr. Murakami himself is quite a reserved-to-himself man, which conflicts his protagonist sometimes. However, for me at present, restless pursuit of knowledge, power, love, etc., seems quintessential so I do not read too much of his writing anymore. But I am still grateful for what he created in his career and would like to reread his works in a fresh angle as a grown man.
1. mysterious:strange and interesting because you don’t know much about them
Eg. A mysterious young woman is living next door.
Mysterious adulthood
2. protagonist:the main character in a play, film or book
Eg. at that time, films rarely had a woman as the main protagonist.
3. Reserved-to-himself: slow or unwilling to show feelings or express opinions
Reading and children
Reading and children
What kinds of book are most popular with children in your country? Why do you think that is?
I think the most popular kind of books with children in China is comics. Statistics and my person experience with children bring me to this conclusion. First of all, if you bother to check the top sellers in terms of books, you will find comics for children permanent residents in those lists. As a comparison, those books telling fairytales and legends seem a little weak in terms of effect on children. Also, whenever I find some children gazing at their smart phone or tablets or reading a paper back book, they are mostly reading comics. It has become a great challenge to find kids focusing on words instead of pictures. Based on these two evidences, I believe comics are most children’s favorite in China.
Why do you think some children do not read books very often?
Well, for this issue, I think the shift of lifestyle is first and foremost to blame. In the online era, we, no matter adults or children have tens of alternatives to do in our spare time and reading a book is one of the most attention-intense among them. Why not go surf the Internet using your smart phone or tablet for some easy-to-understand stuff with beautiful pictures explaining everything to you, or some other rich media requiring no literacy. We grownups still struggle to escape from such grasp, needless to say the children.
How do you think children can be encouraged to read more?
Before we dive into the question, I think I need to make it clear that the children today have been reading far more than we expect. Read Weibo posts, WeChat messages, endless news feeds and many other kinds of media. They are avid readers that older people cannot match with. What grownups are trying to do in this scenario is to shift their focus of reading from those “light” material back to some old-school, serious and provoking thoughts created by real thinkers. Upon this problem I hold a pessimistic opinion. What we can hope for is nothing but luck which can bring a few on them to what grownups want them to read.
Reading for different purposes
Are there any occasions when reading at speed is a useful skill to have? What are they?
Yes indeed. Based on my own experience as a university student, reading at speed can save me from piles of papers to finish before a near deadline. Suppose a student needs to finish reading three or even more papers of more than one hundred pages and write a report about the issue discussed in them, and even worse, the deadline is two days from now. In this case, reading at speed is quite comforting. Another occasion where reading at speed is extremely helpful is to do a presentation about an unfamiliar topic in a short time. If the presenter can read fast enough and memorize what he or she has read about, the presentation can be fully equipped with knowledge though it may be not logically organized in some ways, but at least the audience can have something to digest. This looks very much like a cheat but turns out to be useful.
Are there any jobs where people need to read a lot? What are they?
Yes, definitely. For instance, journalist, novelist or any other kinds of jobs involving writing requires a great amount of reading. These jobs are basically about output, which means to take in information and process it into different forms for more people’s better understanding of the issue. In this situation, reading as a crucial source of gathering information is indispensable. Without adequate input, the output will be dry in all ways so that the jobs calling for detailed information will be total failures.
Do you think that reading novels is more interesting than reading factual books? Why is that?
Yes I do. As an avid reader of novels, I always have a preference for books with an intense plot to those with merely knowledge or information. Generally speaking, I believe all kinds of books are written to communicate certain knowledge to their readers but the knowledge are packed in different covers. Some are embedded in a story, which is what novels do with the knowledge, and some are delivered within a series of experiments and assumptions, which is how factual books are organized. The preference for novels is parallel to the fondness of junk food instead of the tasteless fibers and protein capsulated inside colorful pills. What matters to a person’s taste for books is heavily influenced by the way the information is communicated. That is how I look at the preference for novels to factual books.

Third, Chinese cuisine takes a long time. I found that it takes a long time to make Chinese soup every time. To be honest, I don't have that much patience.

The doctor checked me and asked me how I was feeling. He checked my pulse and my body temperature. He asked me to open my mouth, take my tongue out and checked it subsequently for any possible infections and if there are any possible symptoms of typhoid. He further checked my blood pressure and concluded that I have developed intense allergy infections probably due to the temperature changes and dust inhaled during the travels. He prescribed me some medicines and a cough syrup to be taken at regular interval for 3 days. He advised me to avoid any cold food items and beverages. He also suggested that I drink turmeric milk and ginger lemon honey tea for instant healing. He asked me to take plenty of rest and avoid going out in the dirt. The suggestions were useful and my health improved significantly in a couple of days.

如 ”If I really have to choose a place to describe, I’d like to tell you that …. is such the place。”
当考生在面对话题无从下手时,可以利用 ”WH Questions”来引导思路的拓展,包括 “what, when, where, who(whom), why, how (how exactly, how often, how long, how much, how many)”。
例如,Describe a restaurant or cafe you like. 首先须明确what(the Bookworm),when(some five years ago), where (down the south of Chengdu),who(foreigners for most of time);其次是整个描述的重点why(comfortable, pleasant, intimate ),how exactly (detailed description of being comfortable, pleasant, and intimate),how often(once a month…),how much(30-40 yuan on average per person),how many(3 in Whole China)。
Sample answer:The Bookworm is my favorite cafe in this city, which is about 15 minutes drive from the Tianfu Square down the south, and unlike other fancy cafes in the downtown, it sits in a quiet surrounding. The Bookworm was born 5 years ago with the help of a journalist, who soon became the business partner and co-owner of Chengdu Bookworm. During these years, it’s been popular and welcomed by almost every foreigner in Chengdu. I guess it’s probably because the cafe is really the place that can make them feel at home, ranging from the food, coffee, inside decoration, and those books written and published from their country。
The Bookworm creates a warm and intimate atmosphere, offering its customers home style food and drink. When you get annoyed from a trouble in study or at work, having a rest at Bookworm will be the very pleasant thing to chill out. The greatest part is the live music every Friday night at which you can enjoy the best jazz and blues. There are three Bookworms in China, Beijing has the first, and Chengdu and Suzhou follow the step, therefore if you‘re taking a trip to Beijing or Suzhou, you can still have the opportunity to enjoy the nice little cafe. I like the cafe, for it’s the place where I can relax, eat, drink, read and enjoy music。
In the shop, you can always find some special and interesting stuff, such as hand-made floating lantern, photo books, tiny china pot, and Nepali jewelries and things like that。
比如“Describe a concert hall”,我们可以通过数据的支撑来这样描述“The Civil Concert Hall holds about 50 to 60 shows on an average each year, receiving almost 30,000 audiences, and part of them come to this hall simply because of its comfortable seats and great sound and lighting effects. ”有了数据的支撑,可以使我们对音乐厅的规模和条件有个更直观的了解,而不是简单地描述“the concert hall is very popular and well-equipped。”
The magazine I’ve been reading recently is O2 (Oxygen Magazine), which mainly covers good books, movies, music, and life design as well as eco protection are the key topics throughout the whole magazine. Unlike the normal magazines, you cannot find any company’s advertisement on it. Another thing makes it different from the ordinary ones is that it uses recycled paper, and that’s what it’s aimed since it was born.
Memory
1.Do you think memory is important?
Yes, I do. If we couldn’t remember certain things, life would be very awkward and difficult. Our memories hold a lot of important information we use all the time, every day, just to live.
2.Do you think it's important to have a good memory?
It can certainly help make things easier. If you can remember things easily and not forget them it can be very beneficial. Activities such as studying and learning seem much easier.
3.What are some of the benefits of having a good memory?
I guess some people think you are maybe more intelligent, or certainly smarter than most people, especially if you have an excellent memory and can remember everything. It can help you avoid embarrassing social situations if you never forget someone’s birthday, or if you don’t forget people’s names when you haven’t seen them for a long time.
4.Are there any things that are especially important for people to memorize?
I suppose it depends on the situation. Everything is important to some people. I mean… most people get upset if their friends or someone close forgets their birthday or a special occasion like an anniversary.
5.Do you think having a good memory is important for students?
Well, it certainly helps, doesn’t it? I mean it’s so much easier to remember all those facts, or formulas or information or whatever it is you’re studying. It can save a lot of time if you can just recall most things you need in an instant and not have to review your books or look it up again each time you some information.

Today, I’m going to share with you a place I often go visit with my friends. It is a small café near my home named ‘ABC’.
Though it is just five-minute walk to my home, it was actually my friend Lily who took me there for the first time. I remember that day, when the two of us were both worn out after a tiring day of school, Lily suggested we took some time off to relax ourselves. And, that’s why we ended up in that small café.
As a full-time student, I have to go to school 5 days a week. Therefore, the time left for me to visit this lovely place and spend some leisure time with my friends is mostly weekends. Fact is, my friends and I have made it a habit to visit this small café every Saturday night, and we usually go there by bike.
This small coffee house is located on a quiet street with a lot of trees planted on both sides. It also has a patio with hanging gardens which I like very much. Every time I sit reading there, it somehow makes me feel that I’m sitting in a tranquil paradise of my own. Separated from the hustle and bustle of city life, this small café allows me to ponder quietly, taking some precious time off to relax myself after a week of hard work. Here, I can concentrate on doing a personal project to writing diaries without being interrupted by other people.
Except for its peaceful environment, this café also serves great coffee and cakes. The employees working there are all very nice, showing appropriate waiting manners. In fact, I have already made friends with a lot of them, given the fact that I am no strange face to their shop.
As I said, I go there a lot with my friends. Over a nice cup of coffee, we get to share our little stories with nice scent around. At moments like that, we can escape from reality for a little while and enjoy ourselves.

An English Class
The English lesson that left me a deep impression( 让我印象深刻)was taught by my junior high-school teacher, Miss Wang. One day she came into the class with a bag of things in her hand. I was curious about what they were and Miss wang said “it’s a surprise!” That really made me more interested. Later she told the class that we were going to learn how to order meals in English. First she showed pictures of tasty food and played a video of a person ordering steak. From the video, I learned lots of natural expressions (自然的表达), and even better, I got to know some western table manners, like you have to put your napkin on your lap before you eat the steak, and place fork in your left hand and hold the knife in your right hand. The best part was that we had a role-playing game. My teacher Miss wang first divided the class into pairs, gave us some food as realia (课堂教具), and provided some sentences and dialogues for us to practice. Everything went on smoothly and effectively. It was definitely one of the best English lessons I’ve ever had.
I have had many English lessons throughout my academic years, and the most impressive one was taught by my junior high-school English teacher, _. It was a Friday morning; she came into the class, holding her teaching materials and carrying a huge bag of things. When wondering what they were, I was told that it’s gonna be a surprise for the class. That really held my attention
Shortly afterwards, she said to the class“today, we are going to learn how to order a menu in english” On hearing that,I was like “wow, is she going to treat us to some delicacies(请我们吃美味佳肴)? That would be amazing!” Then basically, she showed some pictures of tantalizing food on her power-point, and engaged students to discuss what they prefer to eat and why. Every one looked so intrigued and was eager to talk. In a while she played a video of a person ordering a menu in a steak house. Through watching that clip(片段), not only did I learn some authentic restaurant vocabulary and expressions (地道的用餐词汇和表达), but also I got aware ofwesterndining etiquette(西方用餐礼仪). I have to say that lesson was really well-planned(精心设计的). But that’s not all. What fascinated me most was the food she brought to the class. Believe it or not, those things in the bag were mini steaks! Hardly can you imagine how much she must have spent on them. The final activity was a role-playing game: students working in pairs, one plays the role of a waiter and the other a customer. I was lucky enough to the customer and try the steak. It was like a taste of heaven(太美味了!), so tender and fresh.
All in all, this lesson was definitely something unforgettable. It was about English, but also about culture and communication. Totally student-focused(以学生为中心)!
5-6.5: keep talking
按照字对字的翻译就是:the purpose of our study is in the new situation’s consistent development to cope with the changing things.
we should learn to deal with the ever-changing events, especially in such a new situation which has been changing day by day。
