元音一定要发饱满、到位,特别是双元音。但是很多童鞋往往会把双元音发成单元音,比如,把/ai/time读成[tem],/ei/make读成[mek],/au/cow读成[k?],这样说出的英语时不准确不地道的。之所以出现这样的问题是因为把汉语的发音方式带入到了英语中,用汉语的发音方式来说英语。其实,汉语和英语的发声位置是有很大区别的:汉语发音时口腔前部运动幅度较大,声音比较尖,英语则是用口腔中后部发音,声音比较低沉。英语元音是通过口腔和气流的运动来发声的,因此要发好元音一定要让整个口腔动起来,不要只动嘴皮子。

学习辅音,关键是要干脆,嘴皮子要利索。比如我们常见的一个轻辅音/θ/,发这个音时,舌头要稍伸出,上下牙齿要轻咬舌尖,如果你是把this读成”zei si”,that读成”zai te”,那这个咬舌音你就真得要多加练习了。辅音发音要短和轻,由于说汉语的习惯,我们发音时比较容易画蛇添足,在辅音后面加上一个元音,比如说把red读成reder,把friend读成friender,不仔细听的话也听不出来。说到这里,有没有躺着也中枪的童鞋呢?

英语的整体感觉,和音乐一样,是有节拍的。每个重音和他后面跟随的轻音节,构成了一个节奏群,每个节奏群在读的时候用的时间差不多。也就是只要重音数相同的句子,念得时间大致是相同的。快来看下例子吧!

英语中有五种基本语调:升调(↗)、的降调(↙)、的升降调(∧)、的降升调(∨)以及平调(→)。

The most useful ingredient in my fridge for cooking at home is ground meat because it is inexpensive and suitable for many recipes. It used to be called hamburger meat and was usually beef. Now, it is sold all over as ground turkey, veal, chicken or pork as well as beef. I use it to make my favorite, meatball. Sometimes I use ground meat to make a meat sauce for pasta and then there are meals when I stir fry it into vegetables and put it all on a bed of rice. I even use it in soups. It can be fried, grilled and baked in hundreds of different recipes. Meatloaf is just one of the dishes I can prepare ahead of time with ground meat to have ready for company or when I am busy. Ground meat is the most useful ingredient because it doesn’t cost a lot and cook easily for freshly made meals or to store in freezer for later use.

I like building model airplanes as my hobby because it gives me a change of pace from my busy schedule. I have been building model airplanes since I was 10, when my father gave me one as my birthday present. It takes time and concentration to match and glue the small parts and although some people don’t have the patience to do this, I find it very relaxing. Each model teaches me about design and engineering. Sometimes I go to a club where there are others who share my interests. This hobby lets me touch a bit of history and I can imagine the adventure of the original flyers.

我也只有高效巡回讲座的时候才会介绍一下shadowing 因为听众大部分不一定会短期内考试

但是上课时间分分钟全是讲题 不 讲题讲技巧强化班18小时还不够

记得当年备课的时候想在上课说Podcast shadowing 听抄技巧什么的

结果直接被老大骂回来了 “他们能直接用吗?短期内能提高吗?不能的话就只讲跟考试有关的内容”

你看连考试相关内容都被驳回了 更不要说段子什么的呢

一般是先总结阅读内容 The school made an announcement that...../ in the proposal, there is a student suggesting that....

然后说学生意见 the ... in the conversation agreed/disagreed with ...because....1st reason 2nd reason

关于4题准备

这道题一般来说是大家最头疼的题目。。

因为阅读很抽象 题目很多时候两个单词都看不懂 更多时候是看懂了也不知道在说什么。。

这道题记住一个原则

阅读的抽象概念 和 听力的具体事例 是一一对应的

就是说

如果阅读说 reference group是指一帮子人 我们很崇拜他们 所以他们干嘛 我们就会去学他们干嘛

听力中必然会出现 具体的一帮子人 我们绝对会崇拜他们 他们绝对会做一些具体的事情 我们绝对会去学他们做这些事情

听力中除了以上和阅读相关的,其他的信息不用听不用记

回答:题目会要求用听力中的例子解释阅读定义

in the lecture, the professor.....

然后 原则是 听力中请出现阅读关键词

比如这道题 说完听力中出现具体的一帮子人我们很崇拜他们以后 要说therefore, they became his REFERENCE GROUP。

目的是让rater知道 你是真的听懂了 听力和阅读之间的联系

乃们明白了吗

第四第六题其实是最简单最有套路的

刷提到最后你们会爱上这两道题的

关于5题准备

1。问题

问题的组成大多情况下遵循这个原则

期望BUT现实 且两者之间有巨大的矛盾

比如想去音乐会(期望) BUT 那个时间有AUDITION(现实)

2。两个SOLUTION

回答:

总结问题 说清楚solution(不需理由) 然后说你选哪个为什么

其实后半部分就是第二题的微缩版本 答题技巧请参照1,2题答题技巧

关于6题准备

呵呵呵呵仿佛又看到了学生痛苦抱头的场景呵呵呵呵呵

以前讲课讲累了就拿46题虐学生呵呵呵呵呵

这道题大多数 80%+都是生物题

而且是关于 adaptation 和 survive的生物题

(所以我以前上课会说 如果你真的一点都没听懂 你就往“这个动物要活下去!活下去!”上面说。。)

技巧:上来三句话一定是废话 三句之后出现重点

重点=第四题概念

也就是同样的技巧 抓关键词 接下啦每一个例子都跟关键词对应

就拿日本7月6号的题来讲

河里面的生物 有adaptation 所以可以不被水流冲走活下去

okay接下啦你需要听 是哪个生物 有什么adaptation 怎么不被水冲走

于是出现了第一个larva 它有个Hook可以勾住河床 所以冲不走

第二个(名字忘了) 它没有鱼漂 所以不会float

以上。

简单吧。。。

tip:动物名字如果真的记不下来可以记首字母 因为后面问题里面会出现这两只的名字 照着念就好了

如果是实验题 同样听三句话以后的关键句

然后根据关键句 记关键信息

如果你也被这样的托福问题所困惑:

1、为什么自己的阅读和听力在老师的指导下和自己勤奋的日夜刷题的题海战术中不断取得自信,但是口语还是无情的在真实的考场中被“虐”?

2、为什么自己在每日的训练中已经能在表述答案时做到流畅自然,但分数还是不能像其它科目一样得到高分?

3、为什么已经每天跑到湖边疯狂地用英文呐喊,老师还是说自己的口语有问题?

想知道问题出在哪里吗?

如果是发音存在问题则需要了解自己哪些音节发得不准,或是在发音技巧上如连读,不完全爆破等多下功夫。机会与自己的小伙伴或是native对话,模仿地道的英文。单纯重复而不对错误进行及时的纠正,只会让自己在通向高分的道路上渐行渐远。

有时候有目的的训练才能使自己的口语不断进步。另外,要着重强调的是中国考生在托福口语中面对问题,已经有思路,但仍存在的表述障碍,或是已经很努力地去练习,但是找不到具体提升方向的三方面:一是表达思想空洞,没有具体的例子和细节支持,二是缺乏连贯性,三是词汇使用不当。

1、表达思想空洞

首先,中国学生在用英语表达的时候,论点有余,但是支持论点的例子和原因显得严重不足,因此,整篇表达听上去十分干涩,不够丰满。

例如,当一个中国学生想要表达他非常喜欢一部电影的时候,他可能会不断地罗列他的论点而无法去挖掘、发展他的观点,他会说“I love this movie, and I think it is amazing. No one loves the movie like I do; it is so good and I think it is the best film in this world.”

这样的表达即使用最漂亮的发音呈现出来也显得苍白无力。甚至有的同学将托福口语题目中常出现的一句话“Use specific details and examples to support your opinion.” 当作一句没用的话,殊不知这正是托福口语考试希望同学们做的,用充分的事实去展开。

一个建议的版本可以是这样的,如果想表达很喜欢Forrest Gump《阿甘正传》这部电影,可以说:

“I love this movie because I can learn something about America's history. For example,I know the lost generation and Watergate scandal through this movie. People living in UnitedStates start doubting the policy of government, and of course, how the Vietnam War affected American people's lives. People want to change their attitudes to the war, and look for their own freedom and democracy. So I can have the opportunity to enrich my knowledge concerning this through this masterpiece.”

这是一部非常“有文化”的电影。导演将美国重要的历史事件默默的安排在阿甘的经历中,通过时代的变迁反映出美国在各个时期的特征和美国年轻人的追求。如果考生可以用“迷失的一代”,“水门事件”,“”来举例,rater马上就明白我喜欢这部电影的原因了,而且通过这些美国人耳熟能详的例子也体现出考生满腹经纶,是一个非常了解美国历史和文化的优秀考生。

再举一例,比如谈到一所好的大学需要具备什么样的特点这道题时,会说“The university has a good library.”或“The university has numerous trees.”就此停止了,而没能有理有据地展开。

正确的表述比如:

“My university has a good library, and it is one of the largest and most valuable research libraries in China. It has about 6 million items in its collection, including over 2 million books and pamphlets and thousands of charts, engravings, manuscripts, map and so forth. The library's half million manuscript collection reflects different aspects of Chinese life and culture. And the library has grown so large that it could no longer be housed in one building. Two more buildings were built to accommodate the ever increasing collection in the library. Also, the library is computerized, so students can research the information or E-book freely when the professor assigns the new homework, which makes the use of the library a pleasant experience.”

要想避免表达思想内容空洞就可以按照上面大学图书馆一例来把自己的想法展开。具体要细化到什么程度还是由考生自己决定,不过强烈建议考生可以根据自己的生活经验和真实的感受(比如真的对自己学校的图书馆)进行客观的评价,而不是在考场中随性的编造例子,毕竟编造的内容是你临时想的,你也不能确定你的创造是否能hold住45秒的答题时间,反而自己真实的感受更容易表达。所以平时对于生活中的素材,或是一些新闻实事合理积累也对话题的展开大有裨益。

2、注意中西方文化差异

还有就是在举例表达时也必须注意中西文化的差异,很多考生在阐述思想时能把中国文化中普遍认同的东西表达出来,却没有能够把中国人为何普遍认同这种东西其背后的原因和条件讲述出来。

因为美国人对其背后的原因和条件一无所知,就很难明白你想表达的思想观点,甚至会认为你所表达的观点是荒.唐的。比如说,一个学生在谈到在中国用什么交通工具最好这一问题时,阐述了这一观点“Only the very wealthy people can afford to buy a car.”为了使美国人真正理解这句话,就必须按下面的方法来交代原因和条件:

The living standard in China is still not very high. The average monthly income per person even in large and affluent cities is about 200 U. S. dollars. This income is just enough to cover the family expenses, without any money left for savings. Furthermore, cars in China are far more expensive than in the United States. The cheapest car in China would be about 10,000 dollars. Very few Chinese people can save enough to purchase a car, not to mention the cost of car maintenance.

从此例可以看出在表达思想时一定要把支持这一观点的事实和条件列出来,即使是众人皆知的原因和条件亦是如此。要避免跨越的思维,造成强逻辑的错误,这是西方人在表达思想时与中国人的不同之处。

在中国,一个人下结论时,如果别人听不懂,往往这个听不懂的人会被看作无知,而下结论的人被认为是有高深学问和深刻语言能力的,这也是我国强调“博学”的体现;而美式思维更强调推理能力,即如何自圆其说。

即有时候我的观点与你所知的观点有些许不同,甚至曾被你认为是错的,但是当你听完我的叙述之后,你发现有道理并被我说服了。有意识的培养自己说理的能力,对于思路的详细扩展有非常积极的影响。

美式发音没有标准重在接近发音习惯

我们学习英语作为我们第二甚至是第三语言(second language),而作为second language learner我们很难说出绝对纯正的美语,我们只能说无限度地接近纯正,从而让考官听起来比较舒服,更愿意听你的回答。其实可以反过来想,我们在听外国人说中文的时候越接近我们发音习惯的我们越觉得舒服,也会因此惊讶于他们的地道发音。同理,当考官听到你的回答十分接近他们的说话习惯的时候,他也会更加佩服你的能力。要想拥有比较纯正的美式发音,很多同学会考虑与美国人交流,但事实是我们身边的资源是有限的,去找一个美国人天天练对绝大多数考生来说是不现实的。所以最直接的方法是从模仿开始,从我们身边最方便的资源下手。

看美剧练口语发音思路分析

就单纯练日常口语的发音来说,TPO其实比美剧更有效,因为口语考试的T3和T5完全是校园场景,与我们的生活更接近,与考试也更加对口。而美剧的题材差异太大,与我们生活或考试直接相关的内容不太容易找到。同学们在跟读TPO之前要至少听三遍以上,把每一句话弄懂,了解了这句话想要表达的意思之后再进行模仿,否则不知意思的盲目模仿是徒劳的。在此基础之上,考生们要建立自己的口语常用表达库,归类整理出美语常用的日常表达并熟读熟背,你的口语会有质的飞跃。

首先大声模仿是重中之重,这一点很重要,模仿时要大大方方,清清楚楚,一板一眼,口型要到位,不能扭扭捏捏、小声小气地在嗓子眼里嘟嚷。只有大声说出来你才能听到自己的声音,像不像、美不美(American),才能有个评断。另一重要原则是长期坚持模仿。优美的语音、语调不是短期模仿所能达到的,对于有英国英语基础的人学说美国英语也是如此,对于习惯于说汉语的人学说英语则更是如此。此外,模仿时还要有耐心,有信心,有恒心,不能有任何松劲畏难情绪,要相信自己完全有能力模仿得更好。

1. 中心是否切题:

解释:考察考生所表达的口语内容是否完整、准确地回答了题目的要求。考察重点在于考生是否能够准确理解题意和准确迎合题意两个层次。

2. 意思是否明白:

解释:考察考生所表达的口语内容是否能够被明白地理解,还是表面上很流利,而实际上语义含糊、不知所云。

3. 结构是否严密:

解释:考察考生是否有能力将口语用严密的结构和逻辑表达出来,还是缺乏层次,信马由缰。

4. 表达是否连贯:

解释:考察考生口语的语流是否有停顿,这包括思维停顿和表达停顿两方面的原因或表现。但此标准并未对考生的口语表达速度作硬性的要求。

5. 发音是否清楚:

解释:考察考生的发音是否能够做到纯正、清晰。起码理解起来并不因为口音的问题存在障碍。

6. 语法是否正确:

解释:考察考生是否能够熟练的使用较复杂的句子结构表达思想,同时尽量避免错误。

7. 词汇是否熟练:

解释:考察考生是否可以掌握足够的英语词汇进行表达,考察重点在熟练度和准确度两个方面。但此标准并未对考生的用词难度作硬性的要求。

托福口语考试技巧:自信必胜法

以前只关注读写听的考生不得不花时间和精力来准备口语部分。据调查统计,考生各部分的成绩排列从阅读、听力、写作到口语依次降低,口语的分数在各部分中通常是最低的。这个现象在考生中引起的巨大的恐慌。另一种状况是,即便是平时自认为口语能力不错,听力能力也很好的同学,也会对自己最后较低的口语成绩感到不解。于是口语部分的考核就变得更加令人琢磨不透了。Ets 对口语部分的评判标准定得也相对模糊,从某种意义说,不能提供给考生清晰的指导。这样一来,口语能力差的同学怕考试,口语能力好的同学也对之没有太大信心,口语部分的考核似乎成了考生们的“鬼门关”。

笔者在执教托福口语课程的过程中发现,目前大多数考生对“口语好”的定义似乎都是“说得相对流利,发音比较准确,语速不会太慢”。这无可厚非。然而,刚才提到的准则仅仅只是“口语好”的外包装,大家需要关注的更重要的是说话的“实效性”,即思维逻辑,语言组织和词句质量。

我觉得没有必要过多提醒大家关于语言“外包装”的问题,因为这绝对是大家注重的方面,所以在口语强化班里的同学基本都有练习过或是系统学习过发音,这很叫人欣慰。可是,大家一定要注意,ibt的口语是电脑录音,评判者是通过听录音来做分数评估的,所以,“说得快”未必是件好事,说得清楚才是重点。考虑到评卷者的“听觉疲劳”,说话的“断句”和重点词汇在重音和语调上的突出,则是有效传达信息的关键。所以同学们不要一味求快,而要注意断句,语调和重音。

看看下面的例子: The Great Wall was the greatest man-made military defense structure in ancient China.

这是一个在口语表述当中很上档次的句子,但如果大家一口气读完的话,这个句子的美感就体现不出来了,而且在录音的情况下很可能还会让评卷者无法听清楚。于是我们需要借助短句和重音来表达,下面我用/作为断句的标志,用〉来点明重音,于是我们可以这样来处理这个句子:

The Great Wall〉/was the greatest /man-made military defense structure〉/in ancient China.

大家可以试着读一读这个句子。断句并可以是稍稍停顿,或者是拉长词的读音,我们在wall 的时候拉长读音,在greatest和structure后稍作停顿,于是这个句子听起来就更加容易理解,因为我们把句子的意群The Great Wall、was the greatest、man-made military defense structure、in ancient China划开了。补充一点,这样的口语听来更上档次。所以在这里,笔者想提醒大家是,为了使表达效果更好,是语言听起来更加悦耳,我们不但要注意发音,还要注意说话时的断句和重音。

这是语言的外包装,但做好了这一切是绝对不够的。正如每个人在打开美丽的包装盒时所期待的是盒子里面更加诱人的礼物一样,每个考官在悦耳的声音背后更想想吸纳入耳的绝对是有组织,有意义的词句。所以另一重对语言的要求也接踵而至,即说话的 “实效性”:思维逻辑,语言组织和词句质量。

在第一和第二题的独立口语任务中,大家需要作的是就自己的经历或向法来回答一些问题。题目主要涉及日常生活和一些社会现象,准备时间15秒,答题时间45秒。这类型考试的形式和面试很相似。15 的准备时间形如虚设,根本无法让考生绘制一个好的答案。大家都知道,要想在面试中表现得好,事先必须有所准备,同理,要想在这两个题目上得高分,预先的素材准备时必不可少的。正所谓:有备无患,胸有成竹。信心百倍,微笑说话。

我们先来看看关于如下题目的两种答案:

What is you favorite place for reading?

Answer 1:

I think my favorite place for reading is the library. First because in the library, many students are reading and you will read with them. Second because in the library, you can get many books easily, so you can get to the information quickly. En … so I like to read in the library. Answer 2:

This gives me inspirations. Indeed, I like to read in parks rather than in libraries or classrooms.

大家一比较就会觉得,前者了无生趣,机械死板,内容单薄;而后者新颖敌特,语言丰富,内容翔实。我要求学学员在学习完毕之后能答出类似后者质量的答案,但在15秒的时间内准备出后面的答案对大多数同学来说是不现实的,而如果提前有所准备,情况就大为不同。于是第一和第二题的信心来自提前的准备。但考生又会有疑问,题目范围如此之广,涉题领域如此之大,怎么下手去准备呢?题目有无数,准备题目自然不是上策,而准备“资料库”,学会“借题发挥”则不一样,定会事半功倍,效果非凡。于是第一和第二题的成败关键就在于资料库的搭建和“转话”技巧的培养。

第三题和第五题比较类似,都是听对话之后回答相关的问题。听懂对话是成功的一半,而如何不失重点,合理有效的组织答案则是成功的另一半。对于听力好的同学而言,学习组织答案的技巧是关键。如果连声累述而没有重点,或是词不达意缺少亮点,岂不白白浪费了好的听力。对于听力能力欠佳的同学而言,如何把握对话的节奏,关注重要的信息,用说话结构的完整来弥补听力的不足都是重要的技巧。这些都是课堂上讲述的重点,也是备考信心的来源。正所谓

第三题:火眼金睛读材料,熟门熟路记重点。

对话模式心有数,有效信息尽入耳。

第五题:对话结构我知道,信息丢失不重要。

答题要点我抓到,说话结构都知晓。

第四和第六题类似,是通过听一段课堂讲座来答题。生僻词汇,快速语流给同学们造成了听力上的巨大障碍。于是大家首要解决的问题是如何对待听力材料,如何最好的利用听到何读到的信息,如何在合理的答题结构中来隐藏听力的缺失。这样的题目对说话的技巧要求是非常高的,而掌握这些技巧就是考试信心的源泉。正是:

第四题:火眼金睛读材料,熟门熟路记重点。

托福口语考试更注意讲的实际内容

第一,新托福口语考试对学生的要求除了“怎样说”外,更重要的是“说什么”。

这一点充分体现了新托福考试的宗旨:测试考生在真实的校园生活和学术环境中交流的能力。与现行的托福考试相比,新托福考试把运用语言或文字表达个人观点的主观题作为主导,而以往占很大比例的客观题(如选择题、是非题)则很自然地退居到次要地位。

以往那种靠语言知识判断,仅仅选出一个正确答案,或回答 “Yes”或“No”的考试不再复返。这样一来,考生如想通过新托福考试,真正凭借的将不再是“正误选择划勾”(正确几率占25%)的能力,而是自如驾驭语言实现交流的真本事!

具体体现在新托福口语考试中,就是让考生阅读文字信息,听一段课堂演讲或发生在校园里的对话之后,针对内容综合复述,回答问题,实现语言输入和输出的相对关联,从而判断出考生的实际语言应用能力。

新托福口语考试的设计是建立在语言技能综合循环,培养“交际能力”的概念上的。因此,它要求考生进行语言交际训练时,不仅要注重语言的合理口头表达,还要注意口语表达的内容是必须通过听读的输入技能获得并循环于意识中,通过意识加工创造表达出来的。

1、口语评分标准中隐藏的三大提分关键点

①delivery(Fluency流利性与连贯性)

这一评分标准中,考官着重关注:

考生能否流利连续地说,还是需要放慢语速才能继续说下去?

语句前后要有一定的逻辑

能够一直紧密围绕着话题讲

是否有长难句的表达

②Language Use:

在Language Use部分我们中国学生往往要注意对单词运用是否自然,准确以及合适程度?

是否能够始终用丰富的词汇表达各种意思?

③Topic Development:

难点:怎么样一层一层的筛选信息,找到有用的信息?

这里想提醒大家,在说前两个口语topic的时候切忌说了一大堆理论化的理由,但没有一个是展开细节来支持的,这会让ETS觉得你的argument不够strong。

一般来说结构采用:What to say+How to say

针对提分,你需要做的是:

词语可以少量出现重复或者自我更正和简单,可以使用一些不同的连接词,但要有一定的逻辑,要去交流而且尝试使用长难句,在理解语句时一定要找到有用的关键词。学生在理解评分标准之后再有意识的训练会有效改善之前在此方面存在的问题。

2、熟悉language use,快速Get提分技巧

两种语言体系必然会造成两种语言逻辑,中国人和美国人的思维在事情的轻重、空间、方位就大相径庭,所以考生要学会美式语言逻辑。

在托福口语考试中,当你顺畅自如地蹦出一句考官熟悉的谚语,绝对会让考官眼前一亮。例如:

注意:在口语考试中,看到问题,要遵从以下几点:

3、常用词汇如何地道表达?

有时可用连接词进行连接语句,例如:and将两个同义词连接,这样既可强调要表达的意思,又可延长一倍的时间。多用习语,口语词,谚语词,gonna,wanna,thatal = that will,有的词读的短而快,有些则长而慢,注意语音语调的变换。

口语回答方式及策略

独立口语

独立口语作为中国考生最纠结的题目之一,很多同学在练习上并没有养成太好的习惯,过分依赖于“写”思路而不是“练”嘴巴。口语更为重要的是明确高质量的练习目标及养成练好表达习惯。除此之外,积累好的口语素材和语料也是备考阶段最重要的方式,保证能够在单位时间呢更好的提高自己的流利度、准确性和表达效率。

1、拆题

独立口语是半开放式问题,也就是你可以加入主观的信息,但与第一题不一样的地方在于该主观信息不是描述性的,而是选择性的,也就是说你会在是否或者AB中选择其一,并且说明为什么要这么选。

例如:

a. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Use details and examples to explain your answer. All children should be required to learn a second language in school. (是否型)

b. Some people enjoy taking risks and trying new things. Others are not adventurous: they are cautious and prefer to avoid danger. Which behavior do you think is better? Explain why.(AB型)

2、切入点

第二题准备时间与改革前第一题一样,也是15秒。思考的时候,快速定下方向(3秒),最好分为两点理由,并写下每个理由的关键词。理由一定要有具体的例子作为支撑,素材可以是经历过的事情,也可以读过的故事或新闻。思考理由的时候一定要充分brainstorm(头脑风暴),可以从stakeholder(利益方)的角度出发,做出合理的分析。

比如例a中,涉及到的利益方就是两个,学生和学校,假设我选择“同意”,那就想想第二外语对学生的好处是什么,对学校的好处又是什么?

笔记应该就是这样的:

考前,TPO口语都需要写下思路,前期练习需要每题都完整录音45秒,自己纠音,纠错,直到没有明显错误为止。熟练以后,可以只列提纲,知道该类问题怎么回答就可以,要学会举一反三,很多语料和例子可以用于不同的题目中,要灵活。

综合口语1

1、拆题

综合口语第1题,属于复述类的题目,围绕校园生活的各种场景展开。先会让你用45秒左右读一段文章,通常就是学校的新政策、学生活动、课程作业之类的一些变革;之后你会听到一段对话,两个学生就开始讨论阅读中的这个变革,此时某一个学生会发表自己对此事的观点,并给出两点理由。之后考生会有30秒的准备时间,和60秒的作答时间。

例如:

TPO 7-3:阅读中的信息为“学校即将中断雕塑课,原因是选课学生太少且雕塑教授即将退休”;听力中对话主角表示这样做不好,理由是“首先学校必修课要求太多,根本没时间学雕塑,其实大家对这个还挺感兴趣的;其次学校可以招兼职教授,或者直接让艺术部门其他老师兼职教雕塑”

问题:The woman expresses her opinion of the university’s plan. State her opinion and explain the reasons she gives for holding that opinion.

2、切入点

这类题目属于复述类,也就是说不需要加入个人想法,尽可能把阅读和听力的主要观点重复出来就好。回答的主要内容就是说明该变革是什么,为什么这样做,学生的观点的什么,两点理由分别是怎么说的。需要注意的是,阅读的理由简单提及就好,重点放在听力对话者的观点和理由。

例题笔记如下:

3、练习策略

复述类的题目就是考察考生提取信息并把它表达出来的能力,所以一定要注意抓阅读和听力的主干,回答过程尽可能用原词,且注意好时间,比较合理的时间分配是前17秒阐述变革,剩43秒左右陈述对话的观点和理由。不练到口吐白沫,就当自己是裸考咯。

4、答题要点

1. 本题主要考察快递、阅读校园通知或学生建议等非学术型文字内容并进行简要的口头陈述的能力。

2. 阅读部分需要45秒-50秒内快速抓住文章体裁和主旨(可以通过文章标题或文章前2-3句话进行定位),之后,需要概括阅读部分的2个原因(可以通过序数词、连词等进行定位)。

3. 听力部分需抓住主角观点及内容进行笔迹记录,大部分同学可只记主角(部分能力较好的同学可以适当补充配角信息),保证笔记内容与原文复述尽量意思一致,并且按照合理的结构限时回答问题。

综合口语2

1、拆题

托福综合口语第二题属于学术类的复述题,复述学术词汇和学科讲座场景展开,和第三题一样,先读后听,抽出关键信息再复述。首先会有用45秒左右的时间完成一篇小阅读,内容主要涉及人文,社会科学和自然科学的某个学术名词(term),接下来会有一个2分钟左右的演讲针对这个term给出具体的例子。之后30秒准备,60秒答题。

例如:

TPO 1-4:阅读解释的名词叫做“groupthink”(群体思考),定义为个体趋向于与团队中他人保持一致,以此获得他人的喜爱,或者出于不想耽误大家时间的目的,尽管有时结果不佳。听力中,教授举了个人的例子,讲了曾经发生在实习的电脑公司的一个故事。

问题:Explain groupthink and its effects using example of the computer company.

2、切入点

由于阅读和听力的信息量远远超过了答题60秒的时间范围,所以在准备期间的最主要工作就是把关键信息提取出来,舍去旁枝末节。首先名词的定义一定要阐明,接下来在举例子的过程一样要体现故事发展的脉络和清晰的人物关系,包含具体的细节。

3、练习策略

学术类的话题首先要搞定的就是单词,相比于开放式和生活类的题目,第四题涉及的东西相对比较专业, 所以要按照科目把相关单词搞的滚瓜烂熟,这样就可以迅速在阅读和听力过程中抓到考点。另外,答题的重点放在例子的描述,前面的定义只占到15秒左右,之后45秒都用来“讲故事”,为了保证故事完整,前面无用的细节一定要删掉。不练到口吐白沫,就当自己是裸考吧!

4、答题要点

1. 本题主要考察学生对于学术类名词、长难句的理解能力和单位时间内的语言概括能力。

2. 阅读部分需要在45秒-50秒内快速抓住对于文章标题的解释或描述(可以通过部分解释或描述信号词进行定位)

3. 听力部分需抓住具体例子内容进行笔迹记录,可以通过教授在叙述例子过程中所使用的连词或时间点进行相应顺序的记录。保证笔记内容与原文复述尽量意思一致,并且按照合理的结构限时回答问题。

综合口语3

1、拆题

托福综合口语第三题,围绕学术词汇和学科讲座场景展开,相当于听力中lecture的mini版。形式与改革前第五题相似,首先听一个90-150秒的课堂片断,准备20秒,回答60秒;内容与第四题相似,同样和学术相关。听力片段一般也会描述一个学术概念,然后举两个相关的例子。

例子:

TPO 8-6:听力中阐述了经济学中给一个产品定初始价格的两种策略。策略一是先定的很高,之后降价,这样的好处在于可以打造高质量的产品形象,并在前期获利,比如一些高科技产品;策略二是先把价格定的较低,来打压竞争者,举了个电脑公司的例子。

问题:Using the points and examples from the lecture, explain the two pricing strategies described by the professor.

2、切入点

本题目的难点一在于听力,不像第四题,没有了阅读部分的预判,考生需要通过听lecture的前几句话来迅速判定讲课的主旨,且涉及学术,因此需要把学科类单词全部变成听力有效词汇;难点二在于取舍,听力时间远大于答题时间,所以一定要删掉不必要信息,把听力中精华挑出来,所谓精华就是定义和例子的关键词,并列的信息挑选一二就可以。

3、练习策略

一个好的回答除了避免低级语法错误,且发音标准之外,要做到抑扬顿挫,有急有缓,要是再加上一点点恰当的语气那就更完美啦。要达到以上标准,策略和示范Ivy老师已经在该系列六篇文章中告诉大家啦,若是大家都能按照这些技巧每天练到“口吐白沫”,坚持2个月,那么你离口语满分已经不远啦。

4、答题要点

1. 本题主要考察学生对于学术类名词、长难句的理解能力和单位时间内的语言概括能力。

2. 题目整体与改革前task4并无太大差异,同样要求考生先对于文章前面出现的学术类专有名词进行定位和理解,然后再分别与其相关的2个小论点和例子。

答题技巧

引申具体事件的抽象概念

真题举例:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Some people want to change their appearance, even by surgery.

是否同意通过手术改变外表。这道题最直接的解读就是:你是否同意做整形手术改善外表。但与其说在讨论“整容手术”,不如说是在讨论“一个好的外表值不值得”。因此,从“整容”这件具体的事,我们可以引申为对“外表”这一抽象概念的判断。

很多时候,题目给出的具体实例会限制考生们的思考。但好在这些比较现代化的观点往往在现实中毁誉参半没有定论,所以小伙伴们完全可以将具体事件延伸成对一个抽象的概念的态度,好让自己有更多地发挥余地。之后再分析好利害关系,这样同意与否都合理。

针对这道题,我们可以说外表的提升能带来很多好处,例如让人自信、有利于发展爱情等。也可以说只关注外表不好,比如太过于浅薄、要接受非议等。

教育话题立足于本质

口语常变着花样的问教育类的问题,比如你觉得家长限制孩子社交媒体的使用好不好?或者让青少年多参加集体运动好不好?不管是说网瘾还是说社交,最后都能跟教育扯上关系。

真题举例:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?Parents should have control over their children on using social media.

是否同意:家长应该限制孩子们使用社交媒体

很多小伙伴们在作答时会首先考虑到社交媒体的优劣再展开叙述,但是忘了这本质是道教育类的题目。

遇到这类题,不管谈的是什么,归根结底是要从“孩子”、“家长”、“老师or学校”三方面中的某一点展开,而不能只谈题干中的行为。

例如这道题,我们可以同意家长的观点,理由自然是社交媒体的弊端。但需要注意的是,我们要把“社交媒体”与它的对象“孩子”联系起来,针对性的说社交媒体对于孩子的负面影响。此后,再叙述家长对于这种影响的遏制。

设定场景做选择

真题举例:

Which job do you prefer: a job with high salary but requires you to work long hours, even on weekends, or a job with low salary but does not require you to work overtime?

你更喜欢哪一份工作:一份薪水高但要求你长时间工作,甚至周末也要工作,还是一份薪水低但不要求你加班的工作?

这种题我们之前说过,两边都不好选,选谁都有理,选谁都吃亏。这种场景下,我们可以设定一个具体的场景,在场景中对自己的选择做出合理解释。例如,一个年轻人时间比较宽裕,而且生活支出较高,他就需要选择第一份工作。

怎么提高口语发音?

边听录音边做标记

(录音材料推荐大家使用官方真题Official中的task5)

第一遍 感受录音的语音、语调。不要读出声音来,只要静静地听、仔细地感受就可以了。

第二遍 标记单词的重音(word stress),把耳朵听到的每个单词的重音标在录音材料原文上。

第三遍 标记所有单词与单词之间的连读。

第四遍 标记句子的升调、降调,要体会不同的句型所使用的语调的变化。

第五遍 标记句中的弱化,某一个音读得比较轻,甚至都感觉不到,这个音就是被弱化了。

认真模仿关注细节

模仿大致可以分为两个阶段:

句子的模仿。先一句话一句话模仿,把每一个句子的语音语调模仿到位,关注到每个细节。

段落的模仿。把单个句子模仿好之后,就可以把一段话连起来了,模仿时要特别注意句子与句子之间的衔接。

开口朗读加深记忆

从发音原理来讲,英语和汉语的音节组合方式大不相同,发音方式也有很大区别。中国人的发音器官实际上并不熟悉或是不适应英语发音方式,大量的朗读练习实际上是在训练发音部位,让发音器官的肌肉适应英语的发音体系。光是大量朗读是不够的,还需要练习记忆,在朗读的时候脑袋里要在播放听过的录音材料。

经过前两步之后,录音材料已经深深印在学习者的脑海里了,朗读时就可以跟着脑海里浮现的声音一起进行了。不需要再听录音材料,也不要把录音上的声音彻底扔到脑后,按自己原来习惯的方式进行朗读。

反复模仿终成正果

如果觉得自己的朗读和录音的确有差距,没有读出录音上的那种味道,就要返回去再听听录音材料,找其中的原因,做对比研究,看哪些地方不太像,再按第一步的方法标记一次。返回去听录音材料找到差距后,就要努力再进行模仿,这样循环往复一直到满意为止。

通过上述几个方法,大家口语中存在的语音语调问题就能得到比较好的改善提升了,在此基础之上考生只要在做好口语内容方面的针对性准备,拿到理想的托福口语分数就指日可待了。

根据不同起点分数,做针对性训练

起点分数在16分以下的同学:主要的问题还是在基础不够扎实上。对于听力材料中词汇和表达的处理速度过慢,影响了全篇的理解。

给这个阶段的同学的建议是:先拿短语篇来做逐句精听,打好听力基础。短语篇可以选择老托福的93篇,科学美国人SSS,也可以选择TPO真题当中的对话理解,这些总时长在3分钟以内的音频都是很好的素材。

逐句精听之后,及时做一个梳理对比,把原文中没有被听出来的信息做一下分析,看看是词汇不认识还是语音现象的问题。如果是词汇问题就做个积累,记下来多读多背几次;如果是语音现象问题,就到对应的出处多听几次。精听完了之后再做一遍看稿跟读,模仿语音语调语速。

起点分数在16-23分的同学:主要的问题是对于长句子和具体细节层次的处理速度过慢。全文能听懂梗概和框架,但是细节含混不清。

给这个阶段的同学的建议是:用长语篇来做复述和听译练习,提高对于语篇中细节层次的理解准确度和详细程度。长语篇在选材上选取TPO真题中的学术讲座即可。

复述练习是听英文说英文,而听译练习是听英文说中文。两个不同的练习达成的目标有所不同。复述练习可以训练提高对所听信息还原的准确度,可以运用在综合口语或者综合写作的听力训练中。听译练习可以训练提高听力分项中学术讲座的长句子信息的理解速度。以上两种练习方式都可以循序渐进地先从小切片开始,比如每个句子为单位进行复述或者听译,然后逐步扩大到每1分钟左右为单位,甚至是每2分钟左右为单位来练习。在这个过程中可以同时训练自己记笔记的速度和整理加工信息的能力。

起点分数在24分以上的同学:主要的问题是在细节上会有一些信息的遗漏。但是考试所考到的细节都是关键细节,所以出现细节的遗漏主要还是因为对于考点的预判不够准确。一定要多关注语篇的整体篇章结构和内容展开的过程,要训练自己对考点的预判能力。

给这个阶段的同学的建议是:按照不同的学科来分组梳理语篇结构(相同学科的文章结构特点往往是类似的),并做整篇的复述练习。通过比对原文之后,分析判断所遗漏的信息是否为考点或者与原文中心思想密切相关的内容,来进一步加深对信息重要性的判断。

此外,如果想提高自己对于语速的适应能力,可以在平时训练TPO真题的时候将语速调整为1.2倍(主要是TPO30以前的素材),这样在考试的时候会有更多时间思考和反应,并及时对考点进行预判。

篇12:高效备考托福口语攻略

托福口语真的太难提升了,稍微介绍一下我的口语提升之路。

虽然最后一次托福考试我成功上了110,但口语是回避不了的弱项。

为了口语可以上25.当初的复习真的是不择手段。

但大家也不用担心啦,口语还是有很大的提升空间的~~

大部分中国学生都是常年的应试教育,哑巴英语,能开口说就不容易了,更何况需要我们去侃侃而谈。

想要托福口语过得去,我们得知道考什么呀?

考察我们口语能力(Task 1和Task 2),还有阅读和听力能力(Task 3—Task 6)。

如果我们的综合能力不行,在Task3-Task6不容易拿高分

那考官如何判定我们能不能拿高分呢?

首先口语考察我们三个方面的语言技能:

表达(包括发音和流利程度)、语言运用(包括语法和词汇)和主题展开(包括内容的组织和综合型题目中回答的完整程度)

每个评分人给每道题评分的范围都是0到4分。

在成绩单上,会收到口语考试各类题目的得分信息,但是这个评分信息是以四个单词的等级评估的:Weak、Limited、Fair、Good。

而对应的得分为:Weak(0-9)、Limited(10-17)、Fair(18-25)或Good(25-30)。

其中,第一题和第二题、第三题和第四题、第五题和第六题会分为三组得到如Limited, Good这样的反馈。

接下来,评分人在给每道题打完分数之后,所有打分的平均分会被加起来并转换为0到30分的标准。

那么不难看出,想要拿到25+的成绩,我们至少有两项的成绩要在Good的档位里面。

那具体的我们该怎么样提高我们的口语水平呢?

1. 尽量使用简单句结合复合句的表达

如果只用简单句,会显得我们的口语很单调。

如果只用复合句,你确定自己能记住么?

一味的使用简单句,那么也只能拿到2—3分的评分。想要跨过3分这道坎,我们需要多运用一些高级的句型。

尤其是在表达个人想法的时候,what引导的名词性从句就是一个非常不错的选择。

比如:What I think the man should do is…

2. 使用万能加分词:连接词

如果我们想要自己的句子连贯性比较好,可以使用连接词。

但是,千万不要频繁用and,划重点划重点划重点!!!!

首先and置于句首的用意很朦胧,还有,频繁用and就像中文里不停地用然后,然后,然后....

我们可以用,如:also、in addition及on top of that等。

如果两个观点间为对比关系,还可以加对比结构,如:in contrast等。

3.尽量运用词汇的替换

同义词转换不仅仅在阅读听力里重要,口语也是非常重要的!!

这是上高分的关键啊~~~

只是一味的重复阅读和听力里面的原文的话,最多只能拿到3分,即Fair的评分。

要知道,如果三分之二的评分只能在Fair档内,总分是很难突破25分的。

所以我们在总结出中心句的同时,对中心句进行一定的paraphrase。

例如,听力原文的对话为:“They come to class prepared and rested and they can concentrate.”

我们可以转化成:“They all come to seminars with good rests and preparation.”

托福口语模板的正确使用方法

1. 当太多人都去用同样的模板时,就会产生大家说的都是同样的内容,而使考官失去了新鲜感。

2. 很多考生在考前并没有做相对应的准备,所以造成很多时候考生拿着模板生搬硬套到一个题目上,导致题目与答案不相呼应的结果。

所以针对以上问题,为大家总结了托福口语模板的正确使用方法,希望大家能够注意:

首先托福口语模板要具有创新性,考生应根据不同的题目类型、题目内容来展现具有个性的模板化答案。我们可以看到,新托福第一题基本上与雅思的第二部分内容非常类似,所涉及的题目基本上都是地点,人物,时间或者说物体的描述。那么,首先我们先来看一下对于地点的描述。

在地点描述的题目里面,我们主要分成两个大的板块。第一,是描述一个建筑物;第二,描述一个城市。两者虽然有很多相似的方面,但依然存有较多的区别。

1、开头语:因为新托福口语考试的第一部分的作答时间只有短短的45秒,所以千万不要在开头部分过于累赘,尽量的简洁有力,一句话做一个简洁的概括。

….这里,考生需要straight to the point, 将自己要描述的内容直接点出来。

2、Overall description: 对一个building的描述,基本上需要从以下几个方面来说:

(1) 地点: It is located/situated in the northeast of the city…

(2) 颜色:比如说当我们在描述一个现代化的建筑物的时候,我们需要涉及到其总体的颜色,比如说it is blue on the outside and generally bluish green on the inside等等。

(3) 历史:建立的时间: It was built in the year…; 当初为什么要建这个建筑物

(4) 特色:相比于其他的同类建筑,这个建筑物的特色体现在哪些方面。

3. Personal Experience: 上述主要描述了一个建筑物的主体。讲完考生如果还有剩余时间,可以将一些个人与这个建筑物之间的关系扯进来,作为文章的一个收尾。

托福口语:发音练习要坚持一个月

(一)第一题——简单原则,即:没有对错之分,只要自圆其说即可

第一题是开放性话题,内容涉及4个大方面:人、物、地、事。要求考生在15秒钟的准备时间之后,用45秒来回答问题。这些问题都是最身边、最生活、最简单的话题,考生只要用最简单的语言答问题之所问即可。有些时候用一些比较复杂的词汇或者句子结构反而会成为口语熟练表达的桎梏。因此脑海中最先闪现的词或结构就可以摘来使用,当然这些词汇和结构要求恰当、合适。

(二)考生通常遇到的问题

<1>整体来看——语调缺乏起伏;流利度不够;流利但是发音不清晰,语调太平;衔接性不强。

<2>语言应用方面——用词不当(大词小用);句子结构有误;有明显的语法错误——思想混乱,三单、过去式形式错误,男女不分。

<3>话题开展方面——有理由,没细节;只有细节,没有提炼出理由;语言空洞,理由和细节不能支撑所持观点。

<4>中英转换时找不到合适且恰当的英文表达。如果考生出现了上述所有问题,那自然分数低的“可观”;一般考生只会出现上述个别现象,所以只要对症下药,就可取得比较高的分数。

(三)解决方案

1、每天的发音练习必不可少——至少坚持一个月。大家要记住:语音方面,如果不是糟糕的不可救药的话,都是可以纠正过来的,所以首先要对自己充满信心。那么到底要练习哪些音呢?其实就是国际音标中的6个困扰音,即中国考生最不容易发到位的音——[ɑ:]、[e]、[ei]、[ai]、[au];考生必须对着镜子把嘴型做到位,不断读这6个音,同时也要读其相关的单词,每天至少要练习30分钟。

2、选择合适跟读材料,每天跟读30分钟——不必花费心思挑选跟读材料,只要跟读我们的听力材料即可,比如红、蓝色Delta中的听力材料,尤其是跟读简单的对话材料(因为其内容比较生活化,有些短语可借鉴到口语内容里)注意模仿其语音语调,至少跟读3遍,并且总结其中的常用英语短语表达。

3、每天10分钟的口语小段子——谨遵第一题根本原则——最生活,每天用10分钟的时间完成一篇口语小段子,内容是一天当中任何值得纪念的人、物、事、地,字数在93-107字。写完后纠正出语法错误,然后熟读自己写的段子,继续完善。完善后,尽量做到脱稿复述出来,要求流利且注意到语音语调;期间最重要的事情就是总结常用口语的地道英文表达,并且通过不断实践,不断使用来熟练掌握这些表达,为口语考试打好基础。

托福口语:表达地道的10组句子

1. How many pages did you end up with? 你的(报告)最后有几页?

依照大多数人的习惯, 「你的报告最后有几页」这句话通常会把它翻译成, “How many pages did you get finally?” 是不是啊? 但事实上如果是老美来说这句话, 他们会说的是, “How many pages did you end up with?” 也就是说, 当老美提到「最后」这个概念时, 他们通常用的是 end up with 这个片语. 所以如果你要说, 「看了那么多的房子之后, 我们最后还是买了湖边的那栋房子」就是, “After seeing so many houses, we ended up with buying the one on the lakeside.”

所以 End up with 也有「最后有什么样结果」的意思, 再举个六人行 (Friends) 里面的例子, 有一次 Monica 问 Rachel 和牙医师约会的结果怎样? 她的回答就是, “We ended up having sex on his chair.” (我们结果在他的椅子上发生关系) Monica 听了之后差点没昏倒. 我想大家不难从这几个例子当中发现, 在许多地方用 end up with 会比 finally 来得更为恰当.

2. That project turned out to be a big flop. 那个计划变成一个大失败.

讲到「变成...」这个动词, become 会是许多人唯一能想到的英文翻译. 所以这个例句许多人会翻成 “That project became a big flop.” 对, 这样讲完全没错, 但各位下次不妨可以学老美用 turn out 这个片语来代替 become. 这样子这个句子就会变成 “That project turned out to be a big flop.” 听起来有没有比较顺口呢?

另外老师上课时在讲到数学运算时也常说 turn out 例如最常见的, “If you multiply the first equation by 2, the two equations will turn out to be exactly the same.” (如果你把第一个式子乘以 2, 这两个式子就会完全一样.)

3. I ate salad, soup, steak and pudding. On top of that, I drank two cups of coffee. 我吃了沙拉, 汤, 牛排和布丁, 除此之外, 我还喝了两杯咖啡.

讲到除了什么什么之外, 以前老师教我们的都是 besides, in addition to (包含的除外), 不然就是 except (不包含的除外, 详见注1) 所以这个例句一般人的讲法会是, “Besides/In addition to salad, soup steak and pudding, I drank two cups of coffee.” 但除了 besides/in addition to 之外, 老美也很喜欢用 on top of that 这个片语. 而且当他们在讲 on top of that 都还会特别强调加强语气. 通常能表现出一种夸大的语气来吸引听者的注意. 比方说吧!. 「她的未婚夫不但有五栋房子和二部豪华轿车, 银行里还有十亿元的存款」在这里重点是最后的十亿元存款, 所以句子这么造, “Her fiance has five houses and two luxury cars. On top of that, he has 1 billion dollars in the bank.”

4. We're gonna have two parties back-to-back next weekend. 下周末我们将连续有两场派对.

「连续」这个概念在英文中的说法有很多. 最简单的可以用单一副词 consecutively, 例如例句就可以翻成 “We're gonna have two parties consecutively next weekend.” 当然你也可以用片语 in a row 或是 back-to-back 来替换这个 consecutively. In a row 原意是排成一列, 例如 three days in a row 就是三天排成一列, 也就连续三天的意思. 而 back-to-back 字面上则是「背贴背」, 当然也有连续的意思在内. 所以比方说期末考到了, 哇咧, 明天居然连续考三科. 这个用英文说出来就是 “We'll have three tests in a row tomorrow.” 或是 “We'll have three tests back-to-back tomorrow.”

5. I have another class right after this. 我随后(下一堂)还有课.

我刚来美国时常被诸如, 「我随后 (下一堂) 还有课」, 「下一辆公车随后就到」这样的句子困扰. 原因是我觉得「随后」如果翻成 immediately (马上) 似乎不太对, 但又想不出什么其它替代方案. 后来我才慢慢了解原来 「随后」就是用 right after 或是 right behind. (单指空间上的之后) 所以要是上课时坐隔壁的不帅的男生问你, “Have a cup of coffee with me after class?” (下课后一起去喝杯咖啡吗?) 拒绝他就是, “I'm sorry, but I have another class right after this.” (很抱歉耶, 我下一堂还有课.) 或是像有时候公车挤不上去, 司机伯伯就会告诉我, “There is another bus right behind this one.” (下一辆公车随后就到.)

提醒各位, right 在英文中常常有「马上」的意思, 例如, “I will be right back.” 就是我马上回来的意思. 所以如果你去掉 right 单说 “I have another class after this.” 当然也可以, 但意思会变成, 「我之后还有课」(也许是下一堂, 下二堂有课不一定), 但如果是用 right after this class 则很明确地指出了是「下一堂」.

6. Knock it off. I can't stand this anymore. 停止吧! 我再也不能忍受了.

「停止」这个动作在英文中有许多的表示方式, 例如最简单的 stop 就是一例, 但是除了简单的 stop 之外, 老美也喜欢说, “Knock it off.” 或者是 “Cut it out.” 例如看到两个人在打架, 你可以赶快说, “Knock it off” 或者是 “Cut it out.” 来劝他们快点住手.

Knock off 这个片语还有许多其它的用法, 像是台风把高压线给吹掉了, 在这里你就可以说, “The typhoon knocked the power line off.” 或是上数学课时老师说把 x 给消去, 这里的消去也可以用 knock off 喔. 造个句子就是, “If you knock off x in this equation, you will end up with the final solution.” (如果你把 x 从这个式子给消去的话, 你就会得到最后的答案.)

7. How can we get through this (situation)? 我们要如何度过这个(难关)呢?

讲到度过某个困难的时刻, 或许你的直觉反应是要用 pass 或是 overcome. 但是另外还有一个你想不太到的说法: get through 或是 pass through. 例如有一次我搭一个老美的车因超速被警察拦下来, 他就很紧张地说, “How can we get through this?” (结果最后他还是无助地被警察伯伯开了一张罚张.) 或是当有人遭逢不幸, 我就会安慰人家说, “No matter what's going to happen, we will get through this hard time together.” (不管再来会发生什么事, 我们都要一起过度难关.)

注意一下如果是要讲的是你已经遭遇过的事情, 则过去式 got through 和完成式 have been through 同样好用. 例如期末考好不容易结束了, 你可以松口气说, “I'm so glad I got through finals week.” (我很高兴终于考完了.) 或是 “I'm so glad I have been through finals week.” (强调“已经”考完了.)

8. We have to work this problem out by tomorrow. 我们必须在明天之前解决这个问题.

讲到 work out 这个动词片语, 它在英文里的用法可是千变万化的. 首先例如解决问题, 老美除了说 solve 之外, 也超爱用 work out 的, 所以解决一个问题你不但可以说 solve a problem, 还可以说 work a problem out. 不过有时候还要看看上下文的意思, 如果我说, “Let's work out some plans for the holiday.” 这里的 work out 翻成解决当然不太恰当, 所以你可以把它翻成「作出来」. 整句的意思就是, 「让我们为假期拟定一些计划」

其实 work out 不单单可以代表「解决」 (solve) 的意思, 或是「作出来」的意思. 它还可以代表「成功」(succeed). 例如你写了一个程式, 但你不知道能不能成功地执行, 你就可以说, “I don't know if this program is gonna work out.” (我不知道这个程式会不会成功.) 或是男女朋友交往, 但你觉得你们俩个人不可能有结果, 这句话就是, “I don't feel this relationship is gonna work out.”

当然啦, 许多人都知道 work out 还可以代表运动 (exercise) 的意思. (但通常是指在健身房所作的运动), 所以从这里不难看出老美其实很喜欢用一些很简单的单字, 例如 work out 就可以用来替换比较难的 solve 或是 succeed.这也算是美国口语上的一种趋势吧!

9. I have to work on your name. 我必须练习(发出) 你的名字.

讲到这个趋势, 那我再考考大家知不知道 practice (练习) 这个字可以用什么字来代替? 想到了没? 答案是用 work 就可以代替 practice 喔! (通常 work 之后会再加上介系词 on, 成为 work on something) 像是有一个老美问我叫什么名字, 我告诉他我叫 “Kun-Lin” 结果他发了两次都发不对, 自己就笑了笑说, “Sorry, I have to work on this one” 其实他想说的就是, “Sorry, I have to practice this one.” (很抱歉我必须练习一下.) 的意思啦!

跟 work out 一样, work on 用在不同的地方就有不同的意思. 像是你去餐厅服务生要收盘子时就会问, “Are you finished or still working on it?” (你吃完了吗? 还是要继续用?) 所以在这里 work on 可以当「吃」解释. 但是如果你到医院去, 听到有人说, “The doctor is still working on his patient.” (医生还在医治他的病人). Work on 在这里又成了治疗 (heal) 的意思. (这个 work on 在这里如果翻成 「吃」就太可怕了吧! ) 但是我想告诉大家, 虽然 work out 和 work on 在不同的场合有不同的解释, 但大家不必去死记每一种的解释, 只要看一下上下文, 通常他们的意思都很明显.

10. I really need to kick back during the holiday season. 我假期时真的需要好好放松一下.

最后讲到 relax 这个字, relax 在口语中可以代换成 kick back. 听来是不是有点奇怪呢? 但这真的是蛮流行的讲法. 例如我在广播上常听到, “Kick off your shoes and kick back for a while.” (脱掉你的鞋子, 好好地放松一下自己.)

Kick back 这个片语还有许多其它的意思, 但都跟字面上的意思「踢回去」有关. 例如报复 (revenge). “The United States decided to kick back after the incident” (事件发生后, 美国决定要报复.) 或是像拿回扣也是用 kick back 喔, 例如, “The company had to kick back a lot to the corrupt officer.” (这家公司必须给..的政府官员很大一笔佣金)

1、独立口语表述的练习方法

根据熟悉的话题进行论述,如描述一个熟悉的地方或谈论一段个人经历;用简单明了的语言说明一种观点或偏好,并用逻辑的语言对原因进行阐述;提出一项建议并用合理的解释规劝别人接受这个建议;

罗列出ETS常出现的热门话题,并针对这些话题做出一分钟的回答。用考试的真实境况,选择一道题,准备1分钟后,用自己的语言表达观点和阐述原由,从而达到提高口头表达能力的目的。

2、平时创造英语学习的环境

功夫要从平时做起。有机会就通过录像机、录音机或光盘,有意识或无意识地跟听或跟说英语。也可以上网与北美人士交流。

虽说新托福口语主要考查交际、交流能力,但语音、语调和重音都会影响到成绩。建议平时多练习对墙、对镜子说话,力图达到自然流畅的程度。提供大家一个好办法:录下自己练习时的声音,扪心自问:别人是否能明白你所说的?

3、临场注意事项

A 32-year-old woman in Belgium has become the first woman ever to give birth after having ovarian tissue removed, frozen and then implanted back in her body. The patient had the tissue removed in 1997 in hopes of preserving her fertility because she had Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cancer, and was about to undergo chemotherapy with drugs likely to damage her ovaries and cause infertility. She and her doctors hoped that once she was cured, the ovarian tissue could be thawed and returned to her abdomen to produce eggs.

1、概述问题

这个部分一定要注意细节,在对对话的内容作高度概括的同时一定不要忘了这件事。只有把细节说清才能把问题说得清楚,说得全面。由此,在听对话的过程中,为了要能很好地把握住这些细节,take notes的工作自然显得尤为重要。

2、表明态度

接下来便要表明自己会更支持哪一种解决办法的。相对于概述问题,这部分是大家的独立创作的开始,所以一定要坚定而又毫无犹豫的表明自己的态度。

3、说明原因
