There are so many unique cities I have visited and experienced, but the one that really sticks out in my mind is Austin Texas because of it’s mixed lifestyle and nightlife. Actually, I’ve been there several times, and I would go back in a heartbeat.

The first time I was in Austin was back in 1987 when I was stationed at Fort Hood Texas while serving in the U.S. Army. A lot of my Army buddies told me Austin was the place to go, especially 6th Street which is one of the main streets in downtown Austin. They were undeniably correct!

When I finally went there on the advice of my friends, I was amazed at how packed the streets were with a diverse crowd. Everybody was having a great time socializing in every corner of the street. I knew I was in for a good time.

Sixth Street is filled with bars, nightclubs, and restaurants, and you can listen to many different types of music from country and western to blues, jazz, and good old rock n roll. I’m personally a fan of rock n roll and to my delight I found a bar called Maggie Mae’s that had a local musician playing some of my favorite hits such as Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison.

One of the other things I liked about this area was how clean the streets were. I was happy to see people using the trash receptacle and not throwing their litter on the streets.

Now for one of my gripes! I was not a happy camper with the high prices for drinks, food, and entertainment. I couldn’t believe a domestic beer cost $6 for a pint and the cover charge to listen to music cost between $10 to $15.

All in all, I love this city and would recommend it to anybody who loves nightlife and music.

There are many reasons supporting my view that are an open atmosphere, a practical attitude, a mix culture, a rapid rhythm … Indeed, this city provides everyone so many chances to grow up our careers everywhere every time. Education and Formation, Arts and Entertainment, Commerce and Trade, Mechanic and Industry… every section is on the way of developing.

Another point which I could add is that you could visit many entertainment centers on the town, and if you need fresh air, it’s so simple to take a western tour in a few days or run along the beach, climb up on the mountain in some neighbor provinces. Something else that I need to comment on is that you will find your favor meal which is part of various special goods that come from everywhere in the country and in the world. After careful consideration of the above reasons, I personally agree that the most attracting thing of this city is its own life style that has been keeping for long times.

A couple of months ago I went to the Greek island of Crete. We stayed in a town called Xania, which is on the coast in the north west of Crete. We got there by various means of transport, taking a train to the airport, then a four-hour flight, followed by a twenty-minute taxi ride from the airport to where we were staying. The whole journey took around eight hours from door to door, which was a bit longer than we expected it to take, although we didn't have any major delays, thank goodness.

I enjoyed my stay there very much, as I had not had a holiday for ages and needed to switch off from working. We didn't do much sightseeing, although Xania itself has a long and fascinating history so went to the local museum in order to learn more about it. I spent a lot of time reading books and swimming in the sea, which I must admit was quite a lot colder than I thought it would be. I also enjoyed eating the delicious Cretan food, and walking around the ancient streets in the town.

One of the things I enjoyed the most was going to a restaurant called Xalkina, where they had live Cretan music every night. The musicians were playing instruments that I had never seen before, and I loved the style and tempo of the music they played. I would definitely like to go back to Crete one day, though next time I would probably make more effort to see the amazing sights of the rest of Crete.

I can remember the place for some reasons. This was the only place that was crowded but I loved that crowd. Everyone was busy with their respective activities. 1、60%的考生，因“表情”被扣分(备注：本文所列百分比和其他评分数据，仅代表部分专家经验，并非官方统计数据)

在雅思口语评分标准的“发音”评分项中，有这样一个界定：“能够使用表情、肢体语言帮助自己被理解。”根据这个标准，如果你有下列问题，你会被扣分：

(1) 几乎不看考官，可能被扣0.2分。

(2) 虽然看着考官，但是表情和口语答案并不配套。

(3) 因为考官面无表情，你原先勉强保持的微笑逐渐僵硬，直至像考官一样面无表情，这样，你可能被扣0.05分。

为了不被扣分，建议各位考生这样做：

(1) 在备考阶段，一定要注意“表情和语言配套”!

(2) 在实际考试的时候，无论你紧张与否，无论考官是否面无表情，请你脸上保持微笑，哪怕很生硬。

遇到”单字重音“，你必须把那些单词放慢、加重，原因很简单，在整个句子当中，只有这些单词，才是最重要的，其他单词，都要轻读。

在雅思的”发音“评分标准中，有这样一个界定：”考生会使用重读、弱读，使自己更容易被理解。“而我们多数中国考生，仅仅把重读理解为一个单词里的重音音节，而不能把重音理解为”一个句子中的重音单词“，所以自然要被扣分了。

不会使用”词串“的考生，得分一定会被扣0.5-1分。事实上，不会”词串“恰恰是中国考生的致命伤，它除了影响了词汇分，还影响了流利分和速度分。

5、99%的考生，只使用”一种语法“，而不使用”多种语法“

多数中国考生，只使用单一的语法结构，即主谓宾结构，而很少使用多种语法，如被动语态、强调句、虚拟语态、疑问句、感叹句等，因为中国考生本性”含蓄害羞“，最喜欢用平铺直叙的陈述句，而很少表情丰富地使用疑问句、感叹句、强调句等。我们只能说，只有稍微改变自己害羞的个性，才有可能操练起多种语法，

6、99%的考生，只使用”一层结构“，而不使用”多层结构“

多层结构答题法对于中国考生并非易事，因为很多中国考生在应试教育的荼毒下，根本就没有形成自己的思维逻辑，遇到问题只能凭借脑子里仅有的一点知识，胡乱说两句。要想熟练掌握多层答题法，最好的方法应该是选择一个高质量的雅思培训机构，选择一位善于启发学生思维的口语老师，先被领入门，再慢慢自我修炼。其实，只要练就多层答题思维，几乎所有考生都可以得到6.5的分数。

7、99%的考生，因”不敢提问“被扣分

根据笔者给学生做模拟的经验，有超过50%的考生，在考试的时候会对某个或某几个问题不甚了解。在听不懂题目的时候，绝大同学采取的策略是：一猜二蒙!

当你猜测或蒙的时候，你在对考题的理解能力、表述自己观点的能力会严重丢分。如果你放松地、大胆地问考官，你压根不会被扣分。即便考官解释之后你要求他再次解释，你也仅仅可能因为”理解能力“而被扣个微乎其微的0.05分，而绝对不会因”听不懂“、”答跑题“收到双重重罚。

8、99%的考生，因”哑巴思维“被严重扣分

笔者在模拟面试中，最痛苦的地方，不是听到了中国考生的哑巴英语(论坛)，而是直面”哑巴思维“，这是中国学生雅思口语均分全球倒数第一的根本症结，其严重程度，远超刚才所讲的其他问题的总和。

So it’s extremely useful, and what’s good about it is that it grows incredibly fast, you know, not like most other trees, and so although a lot of it’s cut down to make stuff, there will still always be an abundant supply of it here.

But anyway, finally then, as for how much I like bamboo, well I’d say it’s actually probably one of my favourite plants! Because I mean, it kind of just gives me a nice, pleasant feeling whenever I see it. And it’s also a plant which is often associated with China, because we grow so much of it here, so it’s something that kind of reminds me of my own culture, if you know what I mean.

I can tell you about Periwinkle, commonly known as Sada Bahar in my country. It’s one of the most popular plants here. It is an evergreen subshrub or herbaceous plant growing to 1 m tall. The leaves are oval to oblong, 2–9 cm long and 1–3 cm broad, glossy green, hairless, with a pale midrib and a short petiole; they are arranged in opposite pairs. The flowers are white to dark pink with a darker red centre. The fruit is a pair of follicles. In the wild, it is an endangered plant; the main cause of decline is habitat destruction by slash and burn agriculture. It is also however widely cultivated and is naturalised in subtropical and tropical areas of the world.

My first memory of this pink flower (which I later found out was called the periwinkle) was at my Grandmas place. Every morning she would water the sandy flower beds from which the periwinkles sprang up. I loved watching them nodding at the sun and dancing in the wind. Periwinkles grow perpetually all year through and are also available in shades of white and purple.

Periwinkle is very easy to grow. Just pluck a branch from another plant and stick it in well drained soil. Soon roots will grow and the pink flowers will multiply. I picked a four inch branch one year ago from someone's garden and today I have a flowerbed overflowing with periwinkle flowers.

I think this is one of the most popular ornamental plants we have, and it is used in medicine as well. Today, the leaves and roots of the periwinkle are used in the pharmaceutical industry and in ayurvedic medicines to treat different diseases like diabetes, hypertension and cancer.

Sydney is my favourite city among the cities I have visited so far. Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales of Australia. Sydney had many attractive natural areas, botanic gardens, parks, and high rising buildings. This city has many heritage listed buildings that attract the tourists and visitors. The Sydney Opera House is one of the most recognised landmarks in Australia and is a great place to visit.

This city is known for the dynamic cultural hub and it has many famous museums, galleries and art galleries as well. Because of the great architecture, warm weather and hundreds of tourists attraction more than 11 million international and domestic tourists visit this city each year. I had been there for about 15 days and I really enjoyed everything about this city. I stayed at a 20 storied hotel that offered a really amusing sight views. The transportation system of the city is better than many other cities and I could have been maintaining the track and time of my schedule because of that. I loved being at open & wide spaces in the gardens and parks. People are welcoming and friendly there. A tourist can get necessary help both from people and the authority and can roam easily without any interruption. I saw 2/3 art museum and some cultural festivals and those were awesome.

There are so many places to be, so many things to do in Sydney. Some of the attractive places are Royal Botanic Garden, Hyde Park, Queen Victoria Building, Sydney Town hall, Macquarie Lighthouse, Australia Square, Sydney Opera House and so on.

Well, I am from England, and in England, we love to talk about the weather! I can recall one particularly extraordinary day, when bad weather brought my city of Sheffield to a standstill. I am going to tell you what the weather was like, where I was when it happened and how it affected me I still shiver as I recall it!

I woke up on a December morning about four years ago and the first thing I noticed was that it was really really quiet. It is hard to describe if you have never experienced it, but after a thick snowfall, everything sounds different. The snow had fallen feet deep onto the ice, it was really treacherous even trying to walk in these conditions. Where I live in Sheffield, it is incredibly hilly. Snow ploughs had cleared the major roads, but this had exposed dangerous thick black ice underneath which was impossible to walk across. The combination of ice and steep slopes meant that I was sliding around everywhere and so was everyone else.

My normal walk to work would have taken me perhaps 30 minutes, but on this day it took over three times that long as I had to negotiate the tricky roads and paths. We stayed at work long enough to phone people to cancel appointments and confirm we were shut, and then I had the same long trek home in the snow again. I was exhausted by the time I got back!

It was quite an experience, it made me appreciate how much we should respect the elements. I felt safe at first because it was an urban environment, and usually, we don’t get much disruption due to bad weather there, but really the snow and ice made it unnavigable for the next few days.

Before visiting St Diego California America, I considered Hangzhou and Shanghai of China were among the top beautiful cities. Now, I must say St, Diego, this clean, pretty coastal city outperforms them in many ways.

St Diego is located in the southwestern corner of America near Pacific ocean. Obviously, it has everything a coastal city should have-blue sea water, clear sky, sailing boats, flying seagulls or so. Moreover, unlike other seaside cities in China which are full of narrow streets, busy road and passengers, St Diego offers every visitor a relaxed life and broader view.

The Coronado beach in St Diego boasts its soft and fine sand as well as surfing spots, so a lot of families go there to enjoy the adventure and pleasure of surfing

Along the seashore, we have the opportunity to visit a craft carrier(航空母舰) which used to serve in US military and now has retired and been converted into a military museum. This place is surely preferred by kids and teenagers who always hold the dreams to be a hero, you know.

Here, kids are told the history and guided by retired sailors, engineers to enter the cockpi(驾驶舱) of a real retired fighter(战斗机). It is really amazing for them.

One thing I almost forgot to mention is the cuisine(饮食)there. I can find any taste, like Italian pasta, pizza, Thai curry and coconut juice, as well as Chinese food. All of them are tasty.

I hope I have chance to visit there soon.
